So, knowing that Bianca Lawson was actually cast as Cordelia, but had to bow out due to contractual obligations with another show, how different would the character have been if CC didn't play it? Would she have been meaner? More aggressive? CC's Cordy was more of a smartass than anything else in BtVS really... Also, does Xander/Cordelia still happen? I guess at least we'd have a main african american character. We know that Joss' shows were kinda lacking in that department.

What about the acting? Could Bianca have pulled it off as well as CC? I'm interested in everybody's opinions. 🙂

I wouldn't want anyone besides Charisma Carpenter being Cordelia!! I think the character would have been very different, in panels with Charisma she said she cared about the character a lot (even during BtVS), and would often go to the writers and tell them that she doesn't think Cordelia would do something like that. A big reason why Cordelia became such a strong female was also because of Charisma, she said she hated playing weak females and she probably had a huge influence on what happened to her character during AtS

I can't rep anymore today but I completely agree with Hale Caesar.

It would be nice to have a different character that was a different ethnic origin though.

Bianca Lawson is alright, but I like Charisma Carpenter better 😀 and I can't see anyone else as cordy 😀

For some reason I imagine her being very like Nikki from Save the Last Dance?. I suppose it would depend on how she viewed the character. Whether she thought she had any depth or not.

I'm happy we got her as Kendra though. "That's me favourite shirt! That's me ONLY shirt!". :lmao:

I will probably be blasted for this but I think Charisma would have made a better Buffy, not too sure about Bianca as Cordy. Harmony? HELL YEAH. I could soo see her as Harmony.

Lol, personally I couldn't even imagine her as a semi-decent Buffy. Had she been the lead I doubt I would have watched beyond the first episode or so.

As for Bianca as Cordy... I'm not sure, because obviously we don't know how she would have played it, but I really think that Charisma brought depth and a certain loveability to Cordy that I doubt another actress would have succeeded in creating.

I think part of the reason why I say it is because when I think it would have been much closer to the movie version. That was the hardest thing for me to get used to initially, was the difference in the Buffy character. I think having "Cordy" be Buffy would have been friggin fantastic.

Ah, I see your point

Do you prefer movie Buffy to series Buffy?

No. But I think the movie Buffy(character) was a better Buffy than the first season Buffy(character). Buffy was supposed to be a valley girl. And I do think the movie was better than the first season of Buffy, in general. It was certainly funnier. But again, I was expecting the movie. Said before it took a long time into the first season for me to really get past the idea that the series and the movie were not supposed to be the same.

Yeah, I suppose I can see that. But I think this speech to Giles pretty much covers how she went from Valley Girl to S1 Buffy:

Buffy: Oh, come on, stake through the heart, a little sunlight... It's like falling off a log.

Giles: A, a Slayer slays, a Watcher--

Buffy: Watches?

Giles: Yes. No! He, he trains her, he, he, he prepares her--

Buffy: Prepares me for what? For getting kicked out of school? For losing all of my friends? For having to spend all of my time fighting for my life and never getting to tell anyone because I might endanger them? Go ahead! Prepare me.

Im sorry but the only Cordy for me is Charisma she plays her so well I'm not sure I would have liked the character as much as I do if it was Bianca Lawson.

Seeing Bianca in "Save The Last Dance", it's easy to picture her as Cordelia. I think she would have played her much nastier, much meaner and definitely not as "valley girl" as Cordelia did.

I think Cordelia would have been bitchier. Charisma's Cordelia is not just bitchy, she's cute too, with her big smile and jokes and no tact. I think Bianca wouldn't have given us a relatable Cordelia. She would have just been a popular bitch (which looks like she'd fit into that criteria), and wouldn't have been as popular. Simply because she'd be less relatable.

I don't think she could have pulled it off. I have seen her on The Vampire Diaries, Dawson's Creek, Pretty Little Liars and The Secret life of the American teenager and she is usually almost the same lol. I mean it doesn't bother me but she has like one face all the time so no I don't think she could pull off the character of Cordy especially on Angel. I don't think I would have loved Cordy as much either.

I never really noticed the origin thing don't really care for that aspect all that much in Buffy.
