Big Bad for S9

+1 for no more Big Bads and more character development which was practically non existence in season 8.

Seeing how I took credit for being Twilight...and the betrayal...I guess I'll just state here too that I am also the big bad of season 9.

think the big bad will be.......

none other than Joss himself...

ok, kidding lol... well, kinda... now they've taken down Twish!te and The First Evil, Buffy and co decide to actually hunt down The Powers That Be and demand an explanation for all this crap happening... especially due to Whistler's bull in season 8.... when they finally find The Powers That Be, they find it's just one guy, who strangely looks a lot like Joss Whedon lol

OMG- I love the Practical Magic quote in your banner- totally made me smile this morning! :D
The big bad for season 9 will be...

...an otherworldly STD Buffy contracted from her sexcapades with Twangel.

Seriously though, I hope they go back to basics and have more character interaction and development.

HahaXD Oh and your banner is awesome!
I'd imagine the big bad would either be something magic-y trying for revenge for the loss of it, or some big bad that never presented itself out of fear of magic. The Jossverse is notorious for dealing with consiquences.

I think it would be pretty amazing for the Senior Partners to be the Big Bad for S9. They've always been there and Buffy has never taken a crack at them.

Would love to see it.

What if, instead of a regular Big Bad, there was a civil war among the Slayers? It's a given that Buffy is going to protect and defend Angel, despite everything that he has done during Season 8. A group of Slayers break off from Buffy's more loyal central group and determine to make him pay for the crimes that he committed as Twilight. Buffy refuses to allow them to take Angel, and violence ensues. Making things worse, Xander, who has never needed any sort of an excuse to hate Angel, and Willow, who is embittered because of Buffy's expulsion of Magic from their universe, which prevents her from bringing Giles back are the leaders of the rebel forces. On Buffy's side are Spike, obviously, Andrew, Buffy's core group of Slayers, and, probably, Faith, all determined to protect Angel from execution by staking/beheading/incinerating. Angel's old crew, what's left of it, at least, would also be on his side.

By the end of the season, the majority of the Slayers are either dead or somehow stripped of their powers, Willow has once again regained her magic, probably by way of her half shake girlfriend, gone dark, goes into hiding, possibly in a parallel dimension where time moves differently than at home, and plots her revenge on the Slayers in general and Buffy in particular. Xander is turned into a 4 armed monkey and is cursed to guard the Watchers' Archives until the next Slayer is called.

The Season ends with Buffy still unable to make up her mind between Spike and Angel, but notices that Angel and Andrew, who became close friends during the civil war. are spending more and more time together, and are planning a trip together to Tibet to visit a monastery that Angel knows about.

With Xander's leaving Dawn. unattached and lonely, sets her sights on Connor. Gunn and Rona pair off, and Illyria joins Dracula in his castle as a permanent guest.

And they all live more or less happily ever after.

Haha, funny, but poor Xander ends up a monkey? That's mean. And I think he would always side with Buffy.

please make a more thourough fan-fic of this!XD
I don't think I want anyone we know to be the new Big Bad. Unless it's Joss. Seriously, I want the gang to find out that some guy with weird hair is responsible for all their heartbreak and hunt that sucker down.

That would be amazing. Holy crap, that would be amazing.
I thought the villain from S8 had not been defeated yet? The winged lion monster. Unless they take care of it in the last issue of S8, I'm guessing it will still have to do with it.

I always wanted to see a Vampire!Buffy, though. 😉

We actually did see a VampBuffy in one of the early seasons. I think Sesaons One or Two. Too Tired right now to remember.

S1, Nightmares
No big bad; a syndicate of demons and baddies pool their resources together to take down the slayer army. It would force the team to focus on multiple enemies; which would force them to interact more than in season 8.

No more big-bads, season 9 should focus on character development and the Scoobies should focus on smaller problems. I'm not saying that they should start patrolling graveyards again (would make a dull comic), but it should definitely be smaller in scale. The fact that it tried to be so big, is one of the reasons that I dislike it.

I'm also hoping that season 9 will involve Ethan Rayne in some way, his death was a stupid waste of the character.

Angel and Spike should also move on from Buffy and start to become their own characters again. This already happened once (Angel s5 and the IDW stuff), but season 8 destroyed all of that, season 9 should allow them to be themselves again.

More than anything I want the Scoobies and Angel Investigations to meet. I wanna see how Buffy reacts to Connor and I wanna see if Willow still has a thing for Fred (who is now Illyria).

Pretty much agree with everything you said.
I'd actually like to see all of the scoobies being the big bad. I think they could take on a paranormal big bad and each of them be possessed by it - when they think it's Xander, it moves from him to Willow and so on. It'd also be a great way to see Buffy as the big bad if it possessed her lol.

after reading the last episode of Season 9, i think the biggest enemy are not demons or anything else.
the biggest enemy is her conscience.
i know it by myself. when i did have done something bad as a child. stealing cookie's or something. i couldnt sleep.
and of course beside her conscience, she has to hide for slayers who feels their betrayed by buffy. and wanting to kill buffy or even worse. want her to suffer in pain.
buffy as the last real slayer who listen to her destiny.

Here's a thought. Maybe that guy in issue #40 that we've never seen before is a male slayer. That could be what changed slayer line from buffy's death and resurrection the second time. Although it would be very doubtful that's the case.

A male slayer would be cool..He would feel very cheated though in a female dominated socity.

Or the Cullens being the big bad would be the BEST THING EVER!!!

Harth is the Male Slayer!

Buffyverse Fan agrees: Harth is the Male Slayer!

Doesn't look like Harth, though. And Jeanty (or was it Allie or Joss lol?) said that we've never seen him before. Does anybody have a picture of young Giles from Buffy Omnibus? It reminds me of him, but I thought he had lighter, spikier hair and an earring. Could it be young Ethan Rayne?
