I just wanted to comment, yesterday, I re-watched 'Lessons' (7.1) where at the end all the big bads from every season appear as the first, I just want to say I thought this was an extremely exciting and good idea, especially so you knew that what was to come, would be the last season, it was so well done, especially the morphs.

I loved that scene too. It's a shame that all the Big Bads didn't make it to season 7. It would have been cool having The First turn into Glory to psyche Buffy out. Maybe they were planning on having all the big bads appear but there were some problems or not enough time.

LOL! You just beat me too it! There definately should have been more Glory! :)
Yeah, i enjoyed that too. It was a lot of fun to watch all the previous Big Bads together, even if they were just forms of the First.

It's just a pity that they weren't used more later in the season. We saw the First become Drusilla, Warren and the Mayor again later on but i would have loved a few more scenes with the Master, Adam and Glory.

Did anyone else notice a slight mistake in the sequence of Big Bads though? I'll give you a clue. Think season six! 😉

Oh yeah, the Big Bad in season 6 was Darth Willow. But since Willow didn't die, the first couldn't transform into her. But there was also another mistake which was the season two Big Bad. The First should have transformed into Angelus. But since it was tormenting Spike, it chose to turn into Drusilla.

Doh! I actually meant to have been typed "Think season two" but i've got season six on the brain at the moment, what with spending half the day debating the whole Spike/Buffy rape thing! 😀

But yeah, you actually got it anyway. Angelus should have been the Big Bad of season two but they used Drusilla instead. It's a pity they couldn't get DB in to do a short scene because i still feel seeing Angelus would have shaken Spike up way more than Drusilla ever could.

I LOVED that scene! It was a nice way to tie in all the previous seasons and really cool to see all the "big bads" in a few seconds. A great (and creative!) move on the writers' part for sure 😀

Ohhh i loved this as an opener.
I honestly thought this was gonna be how the season would have played....it would have given the First a little more credence in my mind if it played on the past more.
I mean the Master could easily have been used to psych-out Buffy.
Joyce was great for Dawn...but i would have liked a Little Glory and the Key stuff....that could have been shown as Dawns growth.
Adam...i don't think he was needed, but Maggie Walsh would have been awesome with the mind play on Buffy.

Warren, he was always gonna be used, i mean thats the one for Andrew.
The Mayor, though used, i would have liked that a bit more....and maybe even a bit of Kendra....a previous Slayer....

sorry.....

Yep. Season 7 promised so much, but delivered so little. There were many dead people the First could have exploited...I guess money issues and unavailability were a big problem....

It was very provocative to have the parade of Big Bads end with Buffy herself.

Yeah it was.
In the commentary for the episode they say that they couldn't get everybody back in because of unavailability and also cost was supposed to be a big factor. I would have loved to see Tara come back as the First...
I think the Judge would have been a good one too.
I would have liked to see the Master shake Buffy up a bit, and for Glory to try and intimidate Dawn, the Faith and the Mayor was right and Tara with Willow would have been great.

can the Judge actually appear? i know Buffy blew him up with a rocket launcher, but he can be reassembled. so, does this mean he can't die?
(i haven't watched S2 in a while, so i'm having some problems remembering the storyline.)

Yeah, technically he is probably not dead, just in itty bitty bits! :)
oh yeah, lol sorry well anyway it would have been cool to see him again somehow...

yeah lol i know, but it just would have been a good appearance, not to add to any major plot, but just so we could see him coz he was pretty bad for a not so big bad.

Actually, one name that should have been added and i think was put forward for Conversations with Dead People was Jesse.
That would have been a great person for the First to use as it would have given Xander something to do....then perv over those girls......naughty naughty man

Yep, Jesse was originally going to appear to Xander in CWDP but Eric Balfour wasn't available. Combine that with the fact that Amber chose not to appear as Tara and you get two really big missed opportunities, in my opinion!

I don't know. Jesse hadn't been around since the first season and then he was only in two episodes. If done right it could have been good. But I think this would have been a good oppourtunity to bring Cordelia to back to Buffy. I know the she wasn't dead yet but she was a higher being for a while so maybe that counts... I don't think it does but it would have been cool.

I don't think that Cordy would have had a big impact. I mean she and Xander were history and that ship has sailed on their day in the sun. She was also playing an evil character in Angel that season so having her play another one on Buffy would have been cruel on Joss's part. Like tainting her image on both shows.

To me it would have been a full circle kinda thing. Jesse died right at the start of the show and so it would have been kinda cool to have him (in a fashion) back for the end.
