Is anyone watching it? I hate big brother, I have watched 1 season out of them all, But I have seen a bit of this one and things about it seemed interesting, the whole ever house mate being a girl thing was pretty interesting!

But I herd today about 0ne f the contestants being kicked off the show for using a racist term, So I watched the show to night to see what happened (the stupid thing caught my attention!)

And after watching it, I really don't agree with what they did. I get that the term she used was bad, but she in no way said it maliciously. She even said she has Black friends who allow her to use the word, so she is obviously used to using the word.

I really don't agree with the fact that she is white and used the word nigger, and that's why she got kicked off the show. But the other girls were then using the word but because they are black it's fine, I have never gotten that. Because that is raciest, having a word that your only allowed to use if you are black!

To be honest I've only seen bits of this show. I watched the opening night as I do every year and then I caught Tuesday and 10 minutes of Wednesdays episodes. All I could see from this years house is that all they do is talk about each other behind their backs.

Theire horrible! They don't have a nice word to say about each other and personally that's something I don't want to watch.

Saw a bit of last nights episode this morning and I have to agree with you I think it was taken a bit too far, and I think the girls she said it too took it too seriously. She did keep sayin that she's used to calling her coloured friends that name and I think Big Brother only made the decision to evict her because their scared that Ofcom will punish them further.

Personally I think it was a huge fuss about nothing... but on the other hand I'm glad Emily was evicted because honestly I couldn't stand her!

i don't really watch big brother...usually just the finale to see who won, lol
but i read in the paper today about Emily getting the boot, and, yeah, she didn't mean to be offensive, she didn't use the word to be mean, but i can kinda see why Big Brother gave her the boot.
after everything that happened last year with Shilpa and Jade, Big Brother don't want to appear like they're accepting this. they don't want people to complain again, or to be invesigated by the WatchDogs again. didn't they say before this series started that they would have a no-tolerance thing going when it came to racism? we could all see that Emily wasn't being mean, she was joking and playing around, but i think Big Brother don't want to take the risk of being accused of going back on their word, so they kicked her out.i can see where Big Brother are coming from.

BB doesnt start in the states until July. I'm so excited!

You should try get hold of some of the UK BB stuff. Whole new world! :D
If Emily had said what she said this time last year (pre-Jade) then the most you would have seen would have been a formal warning, assuming anyone even noticed she said it in the first place. It is a pretty awful word but context and intent have to be taken into consideration too. You can't just assume every slip of the tongue suggests racism or everyone on the planet will fear making any kind of race suggestive comment at all.

Jade really screwed things up for BB because now they will have to jump on every single possible comment that some politically correct group may not like or they will risk yet more problems. This will lead to more problems and unfair treatment like we saw with Emily. Totally idiotic move on the part of BB. Where are they going to draw the line now?
