I really didnt know where to put this thread, so sorry moderators if you have to move it.
Anyway, what do you think the biggest mistake the producers made on Buffy.
Like for example, killing Tara.
I know maybe it wasnt their fault, but i think that the move to UPN, was a big mistake, the show was much better on WB, i think that UPN dont really care what happens to the show now.
I also think that another big mistake was killing Buffy for a second time, then bringing her back, dont get me wrong, i wouldnt watch a Buffy-less Buffy, but i think that somehow it made some of us think (os this slayer ever going to die, no one is that lucky)

There were some minor slip-up, somethings that could have been done better, but as of a whole I can't think of any mistake!

Killing Tara is one of my favorite things on the show, don't get me wrong, I liked her... but the reason i watch this show is because they have the nerve to be unpredictable and do things most shows don't do, like killing a beloved character as part of the plot...

Buffy's second death doesn't have anything to do with UPN, it was foreshadowed since Season 3, and actually I think it actually was awsome...Brilliant season arc which obviously would end in her death

Buffy sacrifice in The Gift was symbolic to her love to dawn! as Buffys love intrest for season 5 was Dawn. its all about love. but i got to agre with you UPN suck at promoting buffy, they realy dont care! theWB was 100x better at promoting! they cared.

Well, even though everyone thinks that UPN sucked as host station, you just have to deal with it. It wasn't a mistake to move there if the show had to, which I think it was.

the only mistakes i can see are ones that annoy me personally, not ones that ruin/dont do good things for the show

like not having xander fall in love with me etc.
but seriously, as shows and plot holes go, they dont do too badly considerign exactly how fictional a world they have created
and how can anything be a mistake? rewqrites etc should get rid of that, just cause we dont like it, dont make it a mistake (unfortunately lol)

Biggest mistake has to be killing off Jenny so early on!!!

Only thing I would classify as a mistake was killing Ms. Calendar and not turning her into a vampire. Especially a vampire that could match Angelus in his evilness.

THAT would have been fun.

I agree with Buffy16Angel. I think Buffy and Spike could have worked if they did it right, but they played it as an ongoing soap opera that went no where for half of season 6. At one time I could have probably been for B/S, but season six's comehere, comehere, goaway, goway thing grew old fast and turned me off.

And the other mistake??

Say it with me.

Writing off OZ.

I also agree that Oz should have not left the show! They are always writing off the cool people on the show!

I aslo think that Angelus should have not killed Ms.Calender, she was cool!

My biggest and probably only real bitch with BTVS would be the problems with continuity. There are so many annoying, unnecessary little things in some of the scripts that just don't make sense. Stuff like how does a fifteen year old get a driver's license? or watch the railway crossing scene closely in the upcoming episode of Him--you'll see what I mean.

In my opinion all those irritating little things that don't make sense, are the reason BTVS never won a major Emmy.

So my choice for biggest mistake would be not hiring someone to red ink all that stuff from the scripts.

The only problem would have been the average Drew Z Greenburg script would have wound up being about 3 lines.

Yay i thought i was alone, at first it was cool, the chip thing really worked, but getting his soul back, na, i havent seen season 7 yet so i dont know how it turns out. Altho i think oz leaving helped the show lose some deadwood, and make willow a lesbian.

ok, just to clarify... the fact that you didn't like a decision made or a plot line doesn't mean it was a MISTAKE....
Jenny Calendar was necessary to kill.... damnit get over it... i liked her... but without killing somebody important there angelus would have just done nothing, then no one would have cared if he was restored and dated buffy again and all the s3 drama wouldn't have existed....

I don't think the Buffy show has made any mistakes, all long running tv shows seem to have a few continuity errors but in the long run Buffy was excellent, and if everything in it went just the way I wanted it to (Tara didn't die, Xander and Anya married, ext), I would probably get bored! Part of what makes Buffy so good is the excitement of not knowing what will happen next, good and bad.

I agree with Dawn, the excitement of not knowing what would happen, and it not being so predictable was one of the things that made Buffy so great.
