Biggest TearJerker Spanning Buffyverse (includes Angel) - Possible Spoilers

For me its the end of The Gift. and its no so much Buffy dying cause we all knew she'd be back, its everyone else's reaction to seeing her lifeless body lying there in combination with the music and the voiceover, its heartwrenching.

And of course The Body start to finish.

Right. Ok. The Bangel bit.

I've tried. Like, really hard. I'm not a big fan of Bangel, but I've tried. I've watched Becoming, and really gotten into it. I've been reeled in by the tension, I've been inspired by Buffy seizing back the power, and I've been moved by the music.

But then it all comes crashing down with cardboard-cut-out Angel after he's stabbed. I just can't feel sad looking at his supreme awkwardness. Which is a shame, because I really feel it could have been a great moment for me.

So, for my biggest tearjerker? Well, for me it's obvious. It's in The Body. Specifically, the tiny little bit where Buffy imagines everything's going to be all right, with the crash-cut back to Joyce lying dead on the floor. The first time I saw it, I thought it was a silly little clichéd detour. The next time I saw it, I knew that it wasn't. By far the saddest, and most real moment in the Buffyverse - at least for me.

S2: Passion - When they get the phone call, and Willow starts crying, and Buffy just falls to the floor, and when Giles finds Jenny.
S5: The Body - Almost the whole episode; but in particular: The first scene with Buffy, the one with Willow, Tara, and Anya's speech.
S5: Forever - The end, when Buffy says something like, "because when I stop, then she's really gone."
S5: The Gift - Buffy's death.
S6: Tabula Rasa - Goodbye to You scene.
S6: Dead Things - Buffy telling Tara about Spike
S6: Seeing Red - "Your shirt..." It's instant tears for me
S6: Villains - When Willow tells Warren that he took Tara's light away from the world, and from her. (I think that was it.)
S6: Two to Go - Willow says," ...the only thing I had going for me ... were the moments - just moments - when Tara would look at me and I was wonderful. And that will never happen again.
S6: Grave - Yellow crayon/Willow crying with Xander
S7: Help - Willow visiting Tara's grave.
S7: Selfless - The "His Mrs." scene cut to her with the sword through her chest.
S7: Chosen - Xander calling out Anya's name.
 
I wouldn't say tearjerker for this one. But Wes seemed to got screwed. Kick a man while on he's on the ground and then some.

From losing the woman of his dreams, Fred, to Gunn, who is roadblocked between FRED/WES. Never like the whole idea of Fred/Gunn pairing. They had no chemistry at all and took way too long for it too end.

Wes then gets kicked off the team because he thought he was doing the right thing.

Fred/Gunn FINALLY FINALLY breaks up. But later on, for some awful reason, Fred is interested Knox who is a total idiot over Wes.

Fred realizes that she is no longer interested in Knox and wants Wes instead.

Wes FINALLY gets the woman of his dreams, Fred, then has to watch and feel her die in his arms and turned into Illyria. Wes's heart was crushed. The people that were connected to Fred's death was none other than Knox and Gunn. Go figure on that one.

Wes then finds out that Fred's soul was destroyed by resurrecting Illyria.

Illyria has the ability to turn into Fred which doesn't sit well with Wes.

Wes dies in Illyria looking like Fred and lying to him and telling him that Fred and Wes will meet in the afterlife, which is a lie. Her soul is gone.

Lol, read several of your posts and you have to be the biggest Wesley fan I have ever come across.
Something that gets me is Cordelia and Angel's last moment together. In You're Welcome. It's so unfair they never got to be together truly, because that would have been such an awesome couple!


In Storyteller when Andrew is crying over Jonathan because he killed him. It just touches something in me.

And lots of other moments. The Buffyverse has a lot of grief and sad happenings, it's hard to keep track of them all.

The only time I've cried when watching Buffy was in "Grave" (season 6), when Xander keeps repeating "I love you" no matter what Willow does to him and when Willow loses her powers but keeps trying to hurt Xander and desperately punches him while he's just standing there repeating that he loves her and she starts crying and they hug and she gets her red hair back. That's the sweetest scene of the show. Alyson is such a great actress, I can really feel her anger, sorrow and pain, it's really heartbreaking.
 
s2 - innocence - when Buffy is crying on her bed, when Giles tells her he respects her, and when her mom tells her that she looks the same

s2 - passion - when the phone call comes, and when buffy and giles are hugging and she says 'you can't leave me - i can't do this alone", and when Giles tells buffy in the graveyard that Jenny is the first person he's loved of the people who have died around him and she apologizes to him for not having been able to kill angel when she had the chance

s2 - becoming pt2 - when Buffy tells angel to close his eyes and then kills him, and afterward when she is sad and sees her friends and can't go to them and then leaves on the bus

s3 - the prom - when the class gives her the class protector award and then angel shows up to dance with her

s5 - the gift - when spike is sobbing horribly after buffy's death

s6 - tabula rasa - 'goodbye to you' scene

s6 - the grave - when xander is repeating 'i love you' to Willow and she is crying and punching him

s7 - touched - spike's speech to buffy

ats s3 - waiting in the wings - when Wesley sees Fred and Gunn kiss

ats s5 - Shells? - when "a place called home" is playing over a flashback to Fred's pre-LA life after she has died

ats s5 - last episode - "do you want me to lie to you now?"
 
For me, it was Spike's revelation to Buffy that he got a soul in "Beneath You"; Angel and Cordelia's last conversation in "You're Welcome"; and Wesley's visions of Lilah, while he was burying her. Another strange tearjerker for me happened in a flashback in "Fool For Love", when Spike denied having feelings for Buffy, even though both Drusilla and the audience knew better.
 
Tear Jerker moments for me from Buffy are:

S2 - Passion, when Willow breaks down on the phone hearing of Jenny's death and when Buffy punches Giles telling him not to leave her later on.

S2 - Becoming Pt2, when Buffy tells Angel to closes his eyes and the kisses him before killing him and she just breaks down.

S5 - The Body, all of that episode really. Enough said.

S5 - Forever, I watched this today and was getting misty eyed when Buffy broke down. Dawn's bad crying made me stay hanging.

S6 - Seeing Red, when Tara dies. Oh man, its so quick and painful.

S6 - Grave, Willow finally breaking down in to Xander.

S7 - Chosen, because its the end of Buffy.

Angel tearjerker moments

S1 - I will Remember You, Buffy and Angel crying at the end before time is put back, gah I don't like that!

S1 - Hero, Doyle dying.

S1 - Five by Five, Faith finally breaking down and begging Angel to kill her, chokes me every time.

S3 - Darla dying is the only heartbreaking moment for me, I love her speech.

S5 - Your Welcome, Cordy leaving and Angel picking up the phone hearing that shes died, his expression is just so heartbreaking.

S5 - Shells, Fred death, that was brutal and so sad when she suddenly just stopped and was gone in Wesleys arms.
 
The moment at the end of "I Will Remember You" with Buffy crying and saying, "No...That's too soon..." Even though I think that that ship sailed long ago, I can still appreciate the sadness of that moment.

The moment in "The Gift" when Spike stares helplessly at Dawn, just before Doc throws him off of the tower.

The end of "Fool For Love," when Spike, after being rejected and humiliated by Buffy only a short time before, sees her crying, sits down beside her (without even trying to either hide or explain the shotgun) and says "Can I Help?" (Which always reminds me of the scene in "Star Trek" "All Our Yesterdays,"where Kirk tells Edith "In about two hundred years, there's a philosopher who will advocate the expression "Can I help," even above "I love you." I've always wondered if the writer of that script was a "Star Trek" fan)

The scene at the end of "Showtime" when Buffy cuts Spike free.

And, of course, at the end of "Chosen" when Spike, despite the agony fo being burned alive, laughs with joy that, not only has he finally been able to redeem his failure at the end of "The Gift" by saving, not only Buffy and Dawn, but the entire world, but even more because Buffy had finally admitted her feelings for him.

But, most of all, the reunion of Buffy and Spike, the tearful kisses, the cheers from the army of young Slayers, Giles actually doing a dance of joy, and Angel and Xander over in the bushes, locked in a passionate embrace while Dracula looks on approvingly, proud that his manservant has finally found true love. (I hacked into Joss' private files. Sorry if I spoiled the finale of Season 9, but I just had to share)
