Birthday - How Much Of What Happened Was Down To Jasmine?

I saw Birthday again last night and it occured to me that I may have been giving Jasmine too much credit when thinking about how much of what happened to Cordy was down to her manipulations. When you think about it, a large part of what was done to her would have had to have been a decision of the Powers as a whole, or at least you have to consider that they were as duped as Cordy herself was.

Thinking back to Hero, it's clear that the passing of the visions to Cordy was not done intentionally by Doyle (regardless of the various romantic notions, just loving Cordy wasn't enough to suddenly give him the ability to pass the visions on) or by the PtB, as they obviously didn't consider her a viable candidate at the time. Once the switch had been made they worked with it but it's very doubtful that they would have willingly gone with Cordy. That only leaves Jasmine with both the ability and the need to have Cordy hold the visions.

Now, it's one thing for Jasmine to get away with a little sleight of hand here and there. The other Powers could assume that the vision switch was down to some weird mystical hiccup and leave it at that. However, altering Cordy to be half demon was not so easily done and certainly not without the other PtB starting to ask questions.

I believe that the events we saw happen in Birthday were actually not directly down to Jasmine but that the Powers really did want to give Cordy the option of a new life. Jasmine just made sure that she rejected it.

I would assume that Skip actually was an agent of the Powers at this point, although very likely he already was secretly working alongside Jasmine too. He was sent to honestly guide Cordy and give her the opportunity to start afresh and live a life unburdened by the visions. However, Jasmine saw this as an opportunity to further her own ends and made certain that Cordy would start to remember her previous life and ultimately choose to return to it.

At that point Cordy would be offered the only alternative left to her. To be made part demon, which she would accept. This would not only allow Jasmine the chance to ensure that Skip altered Cordy in just the right way to suit her needs but also it would appear to the other Powers that Cordy had chosen this path of her own free will, thus leaving no evidence of Jasmine tinkering with destiny.

That make sense to anyone else? 😀

Yep it does, but what about the Higher being thing, Later on?
Was that all down to Jasmine, or was that the powers that be's intention?
Cos i think Jasmine was behind that along with skip, i also think she duped the powers into allowing her to be part demon, she may of sugested it to them,as another option so they could allow Angel his connection with them to continue. Just a thought.
I wonder wether she was actually involved in making the visions painfull to the extent that Cordy fell into that "coma"?

Kinda makes you wonder how much of the world is real and not fixed by someone more powerful.

Jasmine claims to have fixed Cordy's life for years and the monks in Sunnydale changed everyones memories and such to include Dawn. How much of the characters lives are really their own? How much of their own lives are down to free will and how much is down to people messing with them? And how much has gone on that they never found out about?

This all makes my brain hurt.

I certainly think that it's possible that Jasmine was the Power that brought the "Hey! Let's make Cordelia part demon" option to the table. As for making the visions more powerful and so more painful, I think she knew that that would take care of itself. All she had to do was wait until the effects were massive enough and let things play out on there own.
