Anyone else going shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Looking for anything in particular? I always get really excited for BF (hence this thread) and am just curious as to what my fellow BB members are doing on the day. 🙂

I do not understand Black Friday. Too many people for sale prices you can get really all throughout the month of December. I spend Black Friday picking out a Christmas tree.

What is black friday go the US? We have it in the uk, but it's clearly not the same, black friday in the uk is the last friday night before christmas day, and it's called that because everyone wants to go out and celebrate, but it ends up being too busy, and you're lucky to even see the bar.

It's basically a one day only sale, which also happens to be the best sale of the year...so it ends up being the biggest shopping day of the year in the US.

Black friday is the day after Thanksgiving and it's the biggest shopping day of the year. It makes sense you wouldn't have it in other countries because you don't have thanksgiving

True dat, sounds like a good excuse to go shopping though!

eh... it's way too crowded. I only leave my house for about an hour to get a Christmas tree
I have been a couple years excuse there was some big item I really wanted at that special price. After I literally had to fight for my husband's Xbox I swore it off though... From now on I'll just shop online.

I loathe crowds, so I avoid shopping on Black Friday like the plague. My husband bought our computer and camera on cyber Monday the last couple of years, though. The sales aren't worth the stress to me.

On Thanksgiving evening, our town has a big shopping event at the local businesses. Everyone has sales, and a lot of the places have free snacks, hot cider, etc. It's pretty fun. I'll probably go out then and see what gifts I can buy. My mom and I went last year and I like to support the local economy as much as I can. (I do miss the days of the FX Buffy marathon on Thanksgiving, though. I would prefer to be watching that!)

Well one year, my husband were in line in JC Penney and this man started seriously pushing me from behind. He was holding a big box and was intentionally using the corner of the box to push me forward. My hubby turned around and threatened to rearrange his face if he touched me with it one more time, and he stopped. LOL
The year I faught for the XBox, though, I went shopping alone. Hubby stayed with the kids, and I was going to get the XBox bundle I knew he'd been wanting. I waited in line for 3 hours and just before they dropped the rope, this big guy came up and tried to get in front of me. I didn't let him, and he got mad. I was one of the first people to grab 1 of only 16 of these bundles... So then when I got my hands on one of the boxes, he tried to rip it out of my hands!! I told him to let go, and when he didn't, I had to kick him in the shin to make him. Then, when I turned around, a crowd of people started trying to grab and pull at the box, so I was literally having to throw elbows and stomp on feet to make people leave me and the box alone!! I vowed after that, I would NEVER go out on Black Friday again unless it was just something I HAD to have.

wow that's insane, I can see why you'd avoid it after that!

That's pretty much lunacy. Definitely not worth it!
A Black Friday sale is something every one should experience if only once, one of the best things to do is go to one the better malls, find a good spot and just watch the show. The sheer frenzy is very entertaining, then watching people leave the mall with the thousand yard stare, blankly carrying various bags and packages. Watching two old ladies fighting over some little toy is kind of funny, and kind of sad too.

I've never had any bad Black Friday experiences, the worst that has happened to me was when some woman in Best Buy tried to run me over with a shopping cart haha. It's become kind of a tradition for me to go out. I've never waited in line right at the store opening or camped out or anything like that though. But I've snagged some awesome stuff over the years and since people are crazy on BF, I've seen some really amusing things.

This is my first black friday! I've been wanting to go for years, but my mom has always had to work. But we're hopefully going to try this time.

Granted, I more want to see what the fuss is than anything, but shopping is always fun and maybe I can convince my mom to get me a cheap laptop. Last year the least expensive were only about $85, so it's perfectly plausible!

Last year, I took advantage of Cyber Monday.😀 Never even heard of Cyber Monday until last year... My sister mentioned cyber Monday.

Wow this sounds amazing. When is it? I'd never fight anyone for something but i'd love to see the madness.

The Friday that follows Thanksgiving which basically falls on the last Thursday of November
Cool. Although your story doesn't sound so exciting HisMrs, did you manage to get the xbox out of the shop?
