Black friday shopping

I have been inundated with emails stating it is black Friday and time to buy. Most of those shops do not offer free shipping, and I'd end up paying almost double, so no shopping for me. Let me live through you.

What are you looking to pick up in these thanksgiving sales? (which somehow are suddenly relevant to Australian stores too. Damn US trends)

Although I'm keeping an eye on all my Amazon wish lists just in case I can grab a bargain! (cheaper Christmas presents would be nice as I still have a couple to get.) Which reminds me I better start wrapping soon!

For the record, there is NO WAY you'd catch me shopping today. I don't care HOW many deals are out there...it's just not worth it. All those people. Imagine what Walmart will be like. Or the malls. 😨 And some of those people have been out there since 4am...or before, according to news reports.

Anyway, Black Friday in the States is mostly people actually leaving their homes to shop; at the malls, department stores, etc. It's crowded, manic, and crazy. Masses of people, some camping out the night before to take advantage of deals. And no, I won't be joining them. It's far too stressful, and anyway, I'm not really planning on giving anyone ANYTHING this year. Unless I can acquire some money. Maybe.

Yes, of course I went. It's a tradition. What they are describing above is more Cyber Monday than Black Friday. Though I do think since they have started opening more and more stores on Thanksgiving that the Black Friday crowds have lessened. I was surprised how many were out shopping last night.

Sigh...I've bought some stuff online...mostly stupid presents and tat stocking fillers that I'd have lived without. That said, I bought a Doc Marten leather backpack reduced from £185 to £65 - that's nice (and it's for me!). 🙂

I got some lovely Spode jumbo tea cups for a great price! So I’m very pleased with this year’s sale. Luckily, no big stampede of people desiring nice pieces of china crushed me as I made my purchase.

Well I'm sick to death of the words BLACK FRIDAY -but we did pick up a nice new television for a good price to replace the old one which went on the blink. Mum got in right before the shop went into overdrive!😀

I shop every Black Friday (and Thanksgiving night) and no matter how many people, it's never been a hassle. Everyone is always polite.

I bump into someone and say sorry and they say it was their fault or tell me there's nothing to be sorry about. You ask people where they found certain items or vice versa. If waiting outside strike up conversations and share store advertisements

Now I have cyber monday emails. Which shops are turfing out cheap winter clothes? With free shipping? Lol

I dont remember ever getting as much advertising thrown at me around this weekend ever before. Sorta sickening. Aussies have the big boxing day sales for shoulder rubbing shopping. I have been in Sydney a few times. Cant say it thrilled me. I very much enjoy the bush life. Though, these things remind me of the canyon between worlds.

I had a dream this morning that I went back to childcare work, so I could be rich enough to grow my hair out and wear backless dresses, woke up vomiting. Good thing I use towels as pillows!

I am so, so, so sick of Australia pretending to be American. I don't get why or how we would have a 'black Friday'. We don't have Thanksgiving here either? I hate it. I would rather we all just embraced the brilliant Aussie cultural shit we already have like getting angry about onion placement on a sausage sizzle and changing prime minister every few months.

It's black Friday week or weekend here, and it's usually only up to 20% off in most places, not much of a big sale. I think most people just check Amazon for their deals rather than go to the shops.
