Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy

For those who have seen Edgar Wright's Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy, which film do you think is the best?

It's difficult for me to choose, they're all so well made and scripted, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are phenomenal comedic actors. But I have to go with Hot Fuzz as the best film. (Although I've been watching The World's End repeatedly as of late).

Hot Fuzz is one of my favourite films ever. 🙂

I liked 'Shaun Of The Dead'- really good comedy horror/zombie flick but I just think HF is a great movie all on its own. A homage to police action movies along with sleepy village murder mysteries.

It's described as 'Mid-Summer Murders done by Quentin Tarantino' (Midsummer Murders is known for its- somewhat ott death scenes and high countryside murder rates)- which sums it up perfectly; two things that don't mesh well that are combined wonderfully.
Plus its got loads of well-known English actors playing against type (apart from Timothy Dalton of course!).

On the flip side I found 'The World's End' to be very disappointing, especially the ending. Easily the weakest of the three.

Haven't seen The World's End, but I like both Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Shaun of the Dead is better though. Great soundtrack. 😀

Shaun for nostalgia, Fuzz for quotability. 🙂 Tried so hard to like The World's End but I struggle with it. I like Nick Frost playing the straight man for a change though.

(Also, I had this on an upcoming BoTB, so I'll make sure it gets taken off the list!) 😛

For me it's the law of diminishing returns, with Shaun of the Dead being absolutely brilliant, Hot Fuzz far too long with less laughs and The World's End has virtually no laughs and was quite boring.

Think your right about the reasons for Shaun of the Dead being better than Hot Fuzz. I love both films and think that they do something different, but the ending did let Hot Fuzz down just a tad. Agreed that The World's End is easily the worse of the three, but I wouldn't say it was boring, and it had some good performances and enough laughs to make it at least a solid comedy.

Shaun of the Dead for me too. Hot Fuzz not far behind. The World's End some distance behind.

haha I had no idea any of those films were part of a Trilogy. Shaun of the Dead is my favourite! I love those type of comedies, that's my type of humour.

I know it as the Cornetto Trilogy. I voted from Shaun of the Dead, mostly because I've seen it the most and partly cause I didn't really care for Hot Fuzz. The World's End was a bit disappointing. But I do like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

What's with all the hate for The World's End! I'll admit the ending was a bit much, but I thought it had a good theme, not to mention it was a deconstruction of the 'man child' characters in earlier films. Also, Nick Frost finally got a chance to play the straight man and nailed it.

Agree the hate is bit much. I think its because its the final part of an otherwise very good trilogy. People can't help but compare it to the other parts. Judged as a stand alone I think its solid at least.

Shaun of the Dead is my favourite! I thought Hot Fuzz was a good concept but there seemed to be less laughs - like they got too much into the action and forgot about the comedy. The World's End I only saw once at the theatre, so I don't remember it that well. I did enjoy it and thought it felt almost poignant.
