Okay new fanfic requested by charmingangelc at TS3 site. Unfortunatly the period within buffy/angel this is set is very hazy due to me not having watched all of both of them - fortunatly it is AU so it matters slightly less, still I apologise. It's fairly dark in tone and i'd appreciate any feedback you may have.

Blood Bound - Part One

It ran slowly around the contours of his mind, its rolling thickness clung to the troughs of thought "“ tainting them. He swung his head rabidly in a figure of eight as desire overpowered his mind. The lust to feel blood pour through his veins and cool slowly as his unnaturally cold flesh stole its heat; fleeing with the life-torch in its hands and altering the quality of the darkness by creating shadows.

She reminded him of the whispering trickeries of blood. Her skin was so pale and translucent that if she stayed still enough he could see its relentless timekeeping at her temple. In his dreams she came to him, her wrist slit and the blood trickling down into the life lines of her hands as she presented them to him. He just watched in fascination as she bled, the viscous substance congealing and darkening "“ mirroring his thoughts.

He savoured the pain on her face and watched in glee as she took a sharp exhilarated breath in "“ a response to him quickly slitting her abdomen with his fingernail. The pain focused her, gave her mind clarity. Just before his lips clamped onto the red line to taste her, he usually awoke "“ hungry.

*

Willow had seen an inner hidden part of her soul, it was not nice. The spell she'd cast had shown her dark swirling shadows where faces emerged with eyes wide, frozen in an eternal scream of terror. Through these misty faces which hung like old cigarette smoke in a stagnant, airless bar; she could see a pair of dead, black eyes.

Angelus

She shivered as her minds-voice spoke his name, it rolled with the romanticism of such named languages. Her mind spoke it with reverence and desire so distant from the quivering fear filled tone her voice gave it. The good side of her was overly so "“ it was almost a caricature of bumbling purity to hide the eternal night within her.

OK you got my attention. You're good. Please keep going.

I love witchy Willow - Angel/Angelus stuff.

Thanks for your comment, here's the next part - I have made a slight adjustment to one of the constants, instead of having a soul verses not having one, I've changed it to having a good soul verses an evil. Anyway here it is. Thanks,
~Jaded x

Part Two

Willow had two souls within her, a pure human one and a midnight magical one. These warred constantly within her, each trying to infiltrate the other with its colour "“but her face betrayed no trace of the struggle.

"I see you." A dark voice to Angel, "I crave your dark substance."

Angel's jaw locked, he could hear Willow keeping up a lucid stream of conversation with someone else, but her other self spoke to him "“ she had a power almost greater than him. He could return her dark conversation but not speak at the same time. Thus explaining his silent, brooding appearance.

"I crave"¦" He returned but she cut him off.

"Crimson, you crave the crimson flower which is nurtured by the sun. I crave absolute darkness." Willow's voice filled with the violence of glass smashing, as she spoke her desire.

"You have much to learn child, darkness is never absolute, stars pervade it "“ they are the tears of the moon, which cries for its children, who crave what it cannot give them."

"The crimson flower."

"The crimson flower." Angel repeated reverently.

"What is it I crave then?"

"Victory." Angel's dark soul whispered confidently, "Victory over her, the pure, red-headed human whose body and light filled soul trap you."

"Yesss," She hissed, "Victory. Victory. Victory. And something more "“ I yearn to taste "“ your darkness."

"And I yours "“ time, time is all that separates us."

Willow blinked slowly as though waking from a trance as the dark presence within her receded and lay dormant once more. She looked quickly at Angel and saw him take a soundless gasp, like a drowning person breaking to the surface. He had drawn back his darkness from the ether and his eyes focused again on the scene before him. Willow neither understood his action nor her own.

Fascinating, and I'm going to suggest a little bit controversial.

I can't believe I'm the only one who's found this piece. It seems like it's just you and me. Cool...we can talk.

When I say controversial, I'll tell you why.

I'm not sure there's precedent in the Buffyverse for an inborn dark soul. Doesn't matter of course, because this is fanfic, and you're allowed to go outside the box, nevertheless it's worth considering how they look at the soul in the series.

In the series when they talk about the soul itself, the emphasis seems to be on the conscience aspect of it. This changes when mystical forces become involved, such as Angelus in Angel, or post-Tara Dark Willow living in Willow. At that point we definitely see a dark malevolent force trying to drive the host.

So I'm curious, is the darkness you're speaking of coming from the human souls themselves in the characters, or from the demon forces that live inside them?

Yep it does seem to be just you and me! Ah well like you say easier to chat about it. 🙂

I'm not sure there's precedent in the Buffyverse for an inborn dark soul.

I know, that's why I put a note at the start...it sort of wrote itself into the story, sound odd I know, but in this chapter it's needed their dark-souls were communicating - and it's a little difficult for that to happen if based strictly on the canon. But that's not the only reason I did it...

So I'm curious, is the darkness you're speaking of coming from the human souls themselves in the characters, or from the demon forces that live inside them?

Well, I was thinking that all humans have some kind of darkness inside them and it depends whether it's fed or repressed as to how strong it is - I mean they say the slayer's power comes from darkness and yet she's a warrior for good. But in this fanfic there is also the existance of a demonic/magic fed soul inside both Angel and Willow. With someone like Willow, the forces of the two are pretty much in balance, until she strengthens the magical/dark soul through excessive magic usage - allowing it to take control of her, or the dark part of her human soul is triggered into activity by an external event, like Tara's death - so the balance is in favour of the darkness in her.

Phew long explination! Sort of logically worked out, maybe needs more thought though. Anyway what do you reckon?

Fascinating, and I'm going to suggest a little bit controversial.

Firstly thanks, secondly I thought it might be, which was why I hesitated before posting it on a board devoted to buffyverse - but it's been okay so far and should be okay providing anyone else who reads it is able, as you have been, to step slightly away from pure canon.

Thanks for you comments!

I don't think you are doing anything contrary to canon here. It's just, as I said, controversial.

I say controversial because I have seen this business of what exactly is it that corrupts the human and the demon soul debated energetically, several times before.

What I'm offering is simply my interpretation of what the Buffy/Angel writers seem to offer.

Actually, I agree with you. The corruption of characters like Angel and Willow seems to come from 2 levels of their makeup. One external. One internal.

On the internal level I think of it as basic human corruption.

Here I accept what appears to be the Buffyverse interpretation of soul as conscience.

On this level it wouldn't be so much a darkness of conscience as a weakness in it.

Think of a serial killer for instance. The thing were always told about psychopaths is they lack conscience.

Not all psychopaths kill, but some do because of impulses or flaws elsewhere in their psyche. You're not really talking about an external dark force so much as a brain malfunction.

Elsewhere in the Buffyverse however, there can be that external dark force.

Take Angel for instance. When he becomes a vampire "the demon takes his body", as Giles says.

We see a manifestation of that demon in the Angel season 3 ep Through the Looking Glass, when we see an actual physical representation of the demon that lives inside him.

With Willow she incorporates a dark force inside herself when she infuses the books of dark magiks into herself in Buffy Season 6's ep Victims.

Both characters still have the human character flaws that have led them down this dark path, but now they have something else; a malevolent force that craves destruction.

With Angel he still has the vanity and rebellious rejection of authority that led him down that alley to Darla. With Willow she has that need for the quick fix regardless of consequence that led her to seek out dark magic in a quest for revenge. Now though, an external force of malevolent need, wants to drive the bus of their psyches.

With Buffy we can see the demon energy of the slayer as something slightly different. We can see it as raw demon power without the malevolent element.

That of course is all just one viewer's opinion though.

I'm sorry. Please continue your story. I'll try to be quiet, and just read. 🙂

Good discussion
🙂 Discussion is always good, at least it means you're thinking about what I'm writing. And here you are the next part:

Part Three

Cold drew its daggers from their sheaths, but Willow wasn't aware of the danger "“ she didn't even notice as it maliciously plunged the icy blades into her skin. The curtain at her window fluttered gently against her, it was soft and ethereal like a butterfly wing. She reached out and crushed against the wall, then pushed a pile of books against it to pin it there.

A voice spoke in the back of her mind, horrifically silken seductions of blood and torment. Was it her voice? Sometimes, but often it was deep and masculine. She looked at the moon and stars and her mind struggled, as though in a straight jacket, to reach out and grasp and meaning she knew was there. It was no good.

*

"I have something to show you, something that will ripple your dark soul like a creature stirring in the depths of a still lake." Angel's soul-voice spoke with a concentrated black evil that his body, ever conscious of his human shell, tainted with weak, mocking sarcasm.

For a moment Willow blanched, her pure soul recoiling from him, but soon her dark soul, which, like Pandora, she should never have looked into, took control and forced her body to take her where the voice commanded.

*

"Angel." Willow's stricken voice said, "I need your help, I'm losing control. The darkness inside me it's"¦" She tangled her fingers in her hair as though she would pull it all out in one, violent tug.

"I know Willow, I know "“ There must have been a shift in the world's good-evil balance. I feel it too."

Willow clawed at her wrists, as though the evil lay there, then presented them to Angel, the skin pink and raw. He closed his eyes "“ the exquisite reoccurring dream of her filling his vision and he changed.

"Come, soon your darkness will shine like polished ebony." He held his hand out to her.

For a split second she looked like one drowning, whose hallucination of rescue had just dissolved, then she blinked slowly and her eyes were different "“ more alert and unafraid. She placed her hand in his and moved wih a fluidity she lacked in goodness, "Take me then."

Original character introduced here, based loosely looks and personality-wise on Sydney B's mother in Alias, but my own in history, power, well basically everything else really. Anyway I hope people like this next part, all comments much appreciated. Thanks,

Part Four

He led her through the dark streets, the abnormal strength of their limbs made their movements rapid and slick. They moved like the powerful predators they were and seemed rather to fly than to run. Finally he stopped before an old church, now defunct from its original purpose. It was lofty and grand, it had been built in and era when desire for heaven was more a wish not be thrown into hell; saints, their features eroded stood beside horrific gargoyles "“ poised eternally as though ready to swoop down and deliver justice.

Angel pushed the heavy door open and they stepped in, their footsteps echoing in the vaulted building. "This is who I've brought you to see."

Willow looked towards where Angel gestured. A woman was who he indicated, she was beautiful, but not exquisitely so, and yet she was the most stunning creature Willow had ever encountered "“ male or female. Her eyes were tawny and seemed to shiny with supernatural incandescence; they drew Willow to her until she knelt at the foot of her seat. The woman stretched her bow-shaped lips into an amused smile and the crows feet around her eyes deepened into visibility. She had a powerful charisma which latched onto people and made them ache to be in her presence. She forever watched, her particular derisive smile, mocking what she saw.

"Angelus love you return to yourself and bring this new child with you." She said her voice rich with the sound of decay "“ a smothering hot richness.

She held out her hand to him, green-black symbols tattooed down the side of her fingers, flickered in the candle light, they were the sort of green found on beetles' wing cases or when oil and water mix. Angel dropped to his knees and pressed her hand to his lips.

"The darkness of her nature presses on the purity of her mind." He murmured into her fingers speaking of Willow, "The two sides war, as they do in me and too oft the good dominates."

"Yes." The woman said, "Of late you have been ruled by a fair soul and a fair slayer!" She pulled her hand from him, "Let this girl rule you "“ she is worthy of your darkness." She paused, "Look who's here Angel-love. The best of your protégés, the most beautifully evil." The woman's face animated as she spoke.

Both Angel and Willow looked to where her finger pointed. Down one of the side passages stood one of the most frightening vampires to walk the earth. Black hair, centuries dead, fell down her back and her skin was lucidly pale. She lifted her arms lethargically and twirled, her white lace and chiffon dress floated out slightly and her satin slippers made no noise on the stone floor.

"Hmm, mm" She hummed and then chided a stone angel, "You're on the wrong side "“ naughty, the jaws of hell will come and snap you up "“ snap!" She opened her mouth wide and snapped her teeth together, then suddenly she stopped, noticing Angel had come towards her.

"An-gel" She said putting unusual stress on the first syllable. She tilted her head slowly and fixed her eyes on him.

This is fun. I have to confess I'm confused and intrigued at this point. I'm trying to figure out if it's Angel or Angelus who's being enchanted, or if it matters.

yep the new vampire is the fantastic Drusilla! 🙂

Hey nerd4hire Looks like we've been joined in our cosy chat by another - welcome!

Anyway any confusion just ask, though hopefully it should explain itself eventually.

Thanks for commenting.

Part Five

Willow moved jealously, "Shh child." The woman said, "Evil ought not to know envy "“ "˜tis a human emotion to be exploited "“ these two were magnificent together."

"Each little tiny air particle," Drusilla sang, "turns its soul black and darkness descends!" She giggled childishly and pushed Angel to his knees, "You haven't come round for tea for a long while An-gel, I've made little sandwiches and fancies everyday, and now they're all rotten and stale. They'll give you a bad tummy if you eat them now."

Angel wound his arms around her waist and pressed his forehead into her eternally barren abdomen, "My black Queen." He said.

"You black Queen is quite correct "“ the air is black. Three witches have been killed "“ powerful agents for good and now the balance is in our favour. It is your time, you are the children of destiny"¦You must drown." She said addressing Willow, "Drown your good soul in the corrosive evil of you dark one."

Drusilla clapped her hands joyfully, "Let me turn her, let me drink the little witches blood, she'll be sweet, I know she will "“ like sticky strawberries."

"Of course you can turn her "“ Angel's not fit to, with a pure soul still festering away inside of him." She wrinkled her nose in distaste. Suddenly she closed her eyes in ecstasy and her magnetic allure increased causing the three around her to lean in towards her.

Drusilla put a hand on her shoulder and assumed the same expression, "Oh fatal pain "“ like honey melts on my tongue." She moaned.

The woman opened her eyes and their filmy light seemed twice as incredible, "The atrocities in Belgium go well "“ such suffering." She smiled, "Dru darling, do the honours."

Drusilla floated over to Willow her eyes, focused and eager, "You're going to join our little family "“ no arguing now!" She slapped Willow across the cheek.

"Dru don't play with her!" Angel growled.

Dru turned her big eyes upon him, "Spoil-sport, we'll teach him not to talk to us like that, won't we pet?" She said addressing the witch.

Quickly Willow stood, her eyes wide and darting from side to side, as though the slap had flicked a switch inside her, she turned and began to run...

Sorry this part is so very short hopefully the next part will be longer. Thanks,
~Jaded x

Part Six

"Stop her!" Angel shouted to the woman, he knew with one word she could stop Willow in her tracks, even dead in her tracks should she wish.

"Willow." Drusilla sang and Willow's steps slowed.

The woman smiled, "Stop." She commanded with amusement, "See Angel "“ siring Drusilla was the best decision you've ever made."

Willow was rooted to the spot and trembling all over.

Drusilla clapped, "Now it will be fun "“ now she's a good little girl again." Drusilla closed her eyes and swayed her head from side to side, her fingers lightly touching her unbeating temples. "Sill girl "“ that nasty slayer wont come and spoil my fun. Mmmm the evil in you is strong, why bother to fight?"

"Willow "“ love." Angel's dark soul-voice sounded in her mind and against her will the dark shadowy part of her responded.

"Yes?"

"Come back to me."

"The good in her is so strong." Willow's darkness whispered.

"Mutter, mutter, mutter "“ Angel stop," Drusilla said angrily, "I can hear your silly little whisperings in my head. They hurt my mind. Leave her to me."

"Come back." The woman commanded and Willow returned to stand before Drusilla.

"Tut, tut, tut. Naughty little witchy. You've been a bad girl." She lifted two fingers, nails painted black and pointed them at Willow's eyes. She growled, her eyes fixed, unblinkingly on her victim and then snapped her teeth. "I hope you'll share Angel willingly with me when you join us, otherwise I'll have to force you "“ you may become his newdark Princess but I will always be his Queen." She held her hand out to Angel and held it as she bit into Willow's pale flesh.

Well Jaded, I am certainly not the articulate, deeply introspective wordsmith that nerd4hire here is, so I won't even attempt an intelligent, wordy reply. Lol.

What I AM good at is gushing 😛....so what I will say is that you, young lady, have hit yet another homerun with this tale. You hit your stride with your previous "Mulled Wine" fiction, and are showing no signs of slowing down.

Your plot is weighty, but is smoothed out with snappy dialogue. You have a firm grasp of canon, your narrative is swift-moving and gains resonance and momentum with each passing chapter.

Good stuff here, Jaded. Please continue. :: tu ::

Thanks Old Master III I hope this next chapter lives up to your expectations, comments as always well received! 😉

Part Seven

Willow gasped, her eyes widening "“ but soon she found the pain exhilarated her. Angel slit one of her wrists and was lifted to ecstasy as he drank from her. The blood was warm and smooth in his mouth, he felt it fill his veins and heat his flesh. Drusilla dropped Willow and her almost bloodless body crumpled to the floor. Angel pulled Drusilla's virgin-bride clad body towards him. She laughed, a sound like a small bell tinkling, she tilted her head to him and their lips met, the metallic taste of Willow's blood between them.

"Drusilla!" The woman commanded.

In response the vampire broke the kiss and lifted her wrist to Angel who bit down hard into it, "Here, little witchy, witchy "“ come and get some tea and fairy cakes." She said before returning her lips to Angel's, leaving her arm limp by her side for Willow.

Willow felt the bloods warmth as it painted her lips, a mockery of woman's art. Tentatively she darted her tongue out and drew it back, the familiar coppery taste of blood in her mouth. She glanced up at the embracing couple, she wanted Drusilla's attention.

"Dru darling." The woman said sensing Willow's thoughts, "There will be plenty of time for you to fuss Angel later "“ see to your new, dark pet."

Drusilla pushed Angel away, bending backwards slightly, her pelvis thrust forwards and smiled. The she bent her strange, powerful, otherworldly gaze upon Willow. "Drink childe." She said, "Only don't be sloppy and spoil my pretty white dress."

Willow feverishly clasped her arm and sucked on the two pierced holes Angel had made, she gagged slightly, but her human survival instinct was too strong and she swallowed mouthful after mouthful of life.

"Angel!" Drusilla gasped and he prised Willow from her pale wrist before she drank enough for Dru to faint. He gathered his old obsession in his arms muttering to her of the dark future that awaited the three of them.

Willow lay motionless, she felt the cold from the stone floor seep into her body, but she had lost her mortal distaste for it "“ there was no danger in cold now and no hunger for warmth. The flickering shadows of the high cavern-like ceiling danced and took on lives of their own "“ like assassins destroying all the constants she had ever known; she needed them no longer.

Impressive
Nothing to worry about. *chuckles* Just wondering how my Willow could be a vampire. I'm sure you'll make it all make sense eventually. I can be patient.

Oh but she is a vampire! 🙂

I'd just like to appologise about this next part, in the most it's fine but i don't like my quick explination of how Angel got rid of his soul. I had agonys over how to sort that, anyway 'the woman's' presence is only remembered when she allows it, thus allowing her to use whoever it is to change things as she will. Anyway, sorry - i hope it doesn't detract too much from this part. :bluesad:

Thanks for your comments, they're always welcomed with open arms!

Part Eight

"Angel!" Buffy said in surprise, having nearly bumped into him. She lowered her stake blushing slightly, "You're here."

"More than you know." He said recalling the woman's removal of his soul. The gypsy tribe that had cursed him had requested, and been granted their magic from none other than the woman herself. They had needed it to deal with a magical force that had been attacking them. The woman had put a loop hole in their magic, anything they did she could undo "“ but she mostly just let both good and evil ebb and flow in their everlasting tides, as she watched in amusement.

The slayer frowned slightly, "Could you help me? Willow's not been herself recently and now she's gone missing." She made a large gesture with her hands, then realising that betrayed just how worried she was, she wrapped her arms around her slim frame.

"Oh I've found Willow and I'd say she's more herself than she's ever been." He stepped aside and revealed Willow walking towards them.

"Will!" Buffy said, her joy overriding the hairs at the back of her neck which were pricking up in unease.

"Yes it's me." Willow said, she looked around in wonder, the night never ceased to amaze her. It wasn't black and frightening as she'd once thought, but clean and beautiful, filled with forgiving shadows. She inhaled its peculiar smell, it was the scent of illicit liaisons, blood thrumming excitedly and hidden terror.

"Willow?" Buffy asked tears trembling in her voice.

Angel held his hand out to the red-head and as she placed hers in his, he kissed it passionately. Her skin was cold and tasted of darkness and death.

"Oh God." Buffy murmured, she could feel the power their union radiated.

"Goddess!" A voice chided childishly.

"Drusilla." Buffy whispered, this was as bad as it could get.

"'Ello lovely, do you like our new happy family?" She trailed a black fingernail down Willow's arm, "This is my new pet "“ such a pretty pet, she misbehaves beautifully. The first vampire I've sired since my Spike was corrupted "“ you corrupted him, your essence all over him, tainting him. Not all the blood in the night can save him now."

Buffy raised her stake aggressively.

"Now, now little slayer don't bring that out "“ bad mortal!" Drusilla scolded, she looked over her shoulder to where Willow and Angel had stepped to protect her, "Aw you two, you make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!"

She leaned back onto Willow, who wrapped her arms around Drusilla's slim waist, desire shinning in her eyes as she nipped the vampire's earlobe.

No one was sure of the extent of Drusilla's powers "“ not even Angel who had shrouded her soul in darkness. She smiled, her vampire fangs just scraping the fullness of her bottom lip, in her eyes Buffy saw a glimpse of what lay in her mind; it was the reflection of night "“ filled with mystery and fearsome insanity yet also sharp clarity which many missed and fooled by her child-woman actions tied the noose around their own necks. What was the world destined for with strength, sight and magic combined? A trinity of vampires. Buffy trembled for the human race, and she was right to.
