Board Appreciation

Given all the negativity lately I though it would be nice to have a positive thread where people can post about the things they appreciate about the Board.

I love the karma system, the threads, the dorms, Merrick means soo much to me. The members are amazing, I have truly made some great friends on this Board. I love the range of skins and icons. The amazing art work that members have posted and them allowing others to use the work they have created. The IRC is my home online! I have learnt so much by being apart of the Board and I am so grateful for Darla for creating it and continuing to run it despite the many dramas over the years.

I love this place so much. I've been here almost 2 years now, and the instant welcome and friendliness that I got then is still what I feel when I come here. I've gone through some though times the time I've been on here, and whenever I've posted about it on the mainboard or in my dorm I always got so much support and love from everyone.

I love, love, LOVE the dorms (I've made so many wonderful friends in VH! :heart🙂, the karma system (it's so nice seeing you have 1 new reputation comment 😀), the way you all are making me look at Btvs and Ats in new ways and how the shows always seems fresh because of it, the wonderful staff and all of the great members.

I love the whole set up. I love karma and the quote notifications and mentions and all that. It makes it so much easier to keep track of who's talking to you!

And I love the schemes. I've made schemes myself on vb3 and they were like a kid's finger painting compared to how well I think these look. The colours all compliment each other perfectly and the headers are lovely!

I love VH because when you first come to a board this size it can be kind of scary, and having a smaller, more concentrated area of people to hang with was a big help and they're all so lovely and friendly and welcoming!

And I love that even after the TV series has finished, so many years later we can still discuss aspects of all the episode with new and refreshing viewpoints!

I love everything and have done for over 10 years. I come back because it's a nice place to be where I can read peoples opinions on BTVS and ATS and join in on the fun and games. Well not so much the games but you know what I mean. I have made some really good friends here and know I can always come here. I love the place so much I have 2 BB mugs to prove it lol, I'd get the t-shirt too if cafepress did my size lmao. I love the boards set up, design, members and staff. 😀

I love that there are so many skins to choose from! 😀

I also love that there are so many avatars to choose from. I actually like not having the option to use custom avatars, because then I'd never be able to decide what to use 😛

Oh, and I love that everyone is welcoming to new members 🙂

I could come up with more things that I love, but I'm meant to be doing an assignment right now. (I love that BB is a way to procrastinate. 😉 )

I love thr BB-crew. And the the left side of our posts. With the profile picture and the Karma points and our Slogans which we can create ourself and our personal datas! They give everybody on this board a invidual identity! 🙂

I love the people here. I've only ever had positive experiences with everybody. I love the dorms, that allow us to get to know other members more. I truly do feel that VH is my virtual home.

I also love the karma. It always makes me happy to see new notifications. I love the skins, the avatars, the banners, the Buffies, the Bronze, and everything!

Massive props to the mods for all the great work that they do!

I appreciate the staff around here, every single person. I'm sure it wasn't easy the past month or so, they probably felt like throwing in the towel more than once, but they decided to keep going [with this board]. I appreciate their hard work, from the setup, to the skins, to the interesting forums, to the avatars, to the little post icons, the list goes on and on. I know I don't say it often but THANK YOU. Thank you SO much for all that you guys do, thank you so much for keeping this place open even though you probably wanted to quit. You guys are awesome and I love you.

I haven't been here a month yet but there's lots of things that I appreciate about this board. Feels like a lot longer than a month for some of you, though, right? 😉

EVERYONE has been really friendly to me, mods, prefects, random members...absolutely everyone. I like to jump into a forum with both feet and try to become a part of the community. In long-standing forums, I have found in the past that there is often a clique of a few 'top' people who seem to hold sway as to whether a newcomer to the forums is accepted or not. Here I haven't found that at all. People from all strata of the boards have agreed and disagreed with me without prejudice and done so in a friendly and mature manner. And I really like that.

This is the most feature-saturated board I have ever been on. Radio shows, a soon to be karaoke forum, karma (which I am using the heck out of 🙂 ), well defined areas for everything on topic and off. And then there's the dorms. Seriously, folks, if you're not in a dorm, get sorted, make new friends and have a blast!

I have definitely had more smiles than frowns in the almost 5 years that I've been here. I've met people who share a lot of my opinions about a wide variety of subjects, not just about the collective Whedonverse. But what's even more important to me is that I've met and had the opportunity to associate and debate with people who DON'T agree with me and who have the nerve, commitment, and intellect to challenge me in a courteous, even friendly, way that actually stretches and strengthens my beliefs and opinions. What would be the fun of supporting the Spuffy ship if there weren't people (deluded as they might be) who believe that Buffy belongs with Angel and no one else? And what would be the fun of debating with Bangel shippers who didn't have the ability to defend their stand with more than just "Buffy belongs with Angel because...well, just BECAUSE." Now, I ask you, how long can a conversation last with someone like that?

I've seen changes made here, some that I agreed with, and some that, at the time, I totally disagreed with. I've seen people come and go for reasons that run the gamut from just losing interest to total mysteries, and I've seen people who I really care about leave and come back (even if I had to ship Bangel for a month to help coax her return) and, through it all, we've managed to survive and move forward. Hopefully, we'll keep on doing that for a long, long time to come.

I won't lie. I joined this board because I'm shallow. I loved how it looked. It suited my taste and it gave me the feeling that people cared and worked on the boards. Not "just" a place to discuss Buffy. It being "nice to look at" doesn't hurt one bit.

I love many of the features. Some have gone since I got here but I understand why. I love karma (seems like most people do) and I miss it everywhere else. I tend to start looking for it. For me that don't read all the threads (anymore) getting a notification when you've been quoted is great. Otherwise I'd miss out on quite a few of them. I also love that you can double click the icon for a thread getting it marked as read when viewing new posts.

I really enjoy that the staff try to do the best for the board. I don't always agree with their decision or sometimes think they're overreacting based on what I know. But I know it's for the best. Sometimes you're just to personally involved to see it at the time. The few other boards I've been on before coming here seemed to have the slogan "Anything goes" which eventually drove me away from them. Some prefer it that way. I prefer it like we're having here.

The dorms. A great way to get involved on this huge board. I thought I'd be lurking for a liitle while, post a little and then leave. Didn't quite work out that way and the dorms, or my dorm has a big part in that.

Now we're getting to the people. As I mentioned, my intention was to lurk and not be that involved. The welcoming from all the friendly members sure got me by surprise. Nothing like I'd ever seen. What a feeling. The same when I got sorted. Not the most active dorm at the time but it showed from the start to have some really amazing people. At the time I didn't give the staff much thought at all. I didn't have to.

Now I've been here a few years and members have come and gone. Most of the members I learned to love are no longer active which make me sad. I miss them. They've been replaced by other great people. Otherwise I wouldn't have stayed. I'm not as involved or know these people nearly as much as the ones I bonded with first. I doesn't bother me much though. I don't have as much freetime anymore. Sometimes it feels weird not knowing the inside jokes and stuff but all in all I'm just glad that members find each other and have fun together.

Not that I love all members. Some I don't know well enough. Being in different dorms or in no dorm at all take care of that since I never use the chat or skype. Some I just haven't gotten along with. At all. It's kind of bound to happen in such a big place. But still, the love and mostly happy times always won in the end. There were a bad times some years ago (I was definitely a part of the problem without realising. Hopefully not the biggest part.) that almost made me leave. I'm glad I didn't because this is truly my favourite place online. :: red :: :: red :: :: red :: And I can never ever thank Darla and Faith and all the staff during the year for that. Saying thank you isn't enough. I don't know how you've get through everything. I know I wouldn't but I'm forever thankful.

I could praise VH and my dormies but I'll spare you that. Just know that I love them lots to put it lightly. :grouphug:

Ive been active on the boards for about a year! And it has defintely become my online home, the place I go to everytime I open google chrome! The community is amazing, I have always felt respected and the members, and mods have all added to how awesome this forum is! Yes, there are problems, but on the whole this forum is 100000000x better and friendlier than any other I have been on! 🙂

Also, the fact people are able to make such amazing artwork still amazes me!!!!

I love the dorm system!! And the friendly competition, but most of all I love the fact everytime I come online I get to see Freds awesome face in my skin 😉

I love this place. it feels like home to me, I couldn't imagine going to any other Buffy forum for a lot of reasons.

1. The members. I love you all. You are all so intelligent and I'm blown away everyday by some of things that are posted.

2. The dorms. I love everything about my dorm, I love everyone in it, and I enjoy so much just to be able to help come up with the brilliant ideas that our dorm comes up with. I was so proud when we won the house cup. I feel like Merrick earned it.

3. The karma. I love the karma system! It's a great way to get an agreement with someone across without wasting a post about it. I find myself agreeing with people a lot, with having nothing more to add. I enjoy this feature, and being able to agree with someone, and even add a little comment. It's awesome. 😀

4. The artwork. The artwork on this site is always devastatingly gorgeous, and I stand in awe of those that work their tails off to make this site look good for everyone else. I could never do it, I don't have the talent. I am very appreciative of all the skins, and the generosity of the members that allow us members who aren't talented to use their banners and such. :heart:

5. One of the first things that I noticed about this board is how big it is! There are so many threads and forums to post in, I was blown away. Because every other site I had visited was nothing like this. I knew that this was the place I wanted to be.

I feel extremely happy and proud to be a member of this board. I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I find myself not being able to stay away for a day.

Thank you, everyone, for making me feel like I belong.

I love BB. I don't see myself leaving for a while. I really hesitated on joining back in 2009, and I'm really glad I decided to. 🙂 It let me talk about one of my passions - the Buffyverse - whenever I want.

I also met so many awesome people, some of them who are now close friends. The site is really good looking. I love how everything is set up. There are so many great skins (I just can't help keeping my Fresley one, though 😛 )... Oh and the mods do a great job at keeping the peace. This is one of the nicest place I've seen on the net. 🙂

I really like being here even though I lurk half the time. If it wasn't for these boards, I wouldn't have made all the friends that I have. I've been a member a little over a year. I like my dorm and how it's become more active.

Y'know..I love a lot about this place. I love the people, I love the skins, I love the layout, I love the discussion, I love the freedom....All in all, through everything, BB is an absolutely wonderful place. When I joined here I was absolutely in awe, because I have never, ever been welcomed to an online forum the way I was instantly welcomed here. I felt so much warmth from you all, and it still to this day outweighs any amount of cold there could be. It breaks my heart when I see negativity about. It sends me into a panic just about every time. Truth told, I care deeply about this board and each and every single one of you, to the point where I would likely genuinely cry - and I am not a crier - if it were ever taken away.

So, let's all sit back together, have a pint (Though for me it'd be a pint of one of those girly drinks cuz beer...ew 😛) and toast to the long life of BB - The best board on the web!

I've only been here for four months which is...insane. I love it here and I'll probably never leave. Some of you have just groaned, loudly.

Haha I felt like I was instantly accepted by just about everyone when I first joined. No one was rude or dismissive. Although we've had a few disagreements lately, I really do appreciate everyone here. I was never one of those people to get involved in an "online community" because forums never really hold my interest or the people are a-holes...but BB is like a second home now.

Things that I really like specifically...well I love karma, the dorms, BBRadio, the skins (the BB birthday ones are so great! 😀 I'm not sure if I'll ever remove the pink one, maybe I'll alternate between blue and pink) and the Buffies 🙂 that was really fun.

I just love BB. You guys make me proud to be a Buffy/AtS fan.
Also, the majority of you enjoy cheese, which let's know I can trust you.

Showing appreciation like this is actually something I'm not very good at.
I find it hard to know what to say and I often just take for granted that everyone understands when I love something and how much I appreciate the effort and all the hard work.

But be sure that I do appreciate everything. Even though I might not be very vocal about it in threads for new styles and similar things. 🙂

I love all the features, the karma, the Game of Life, the karma, the karaoke forum coming soon, the karma. This is the best forum you could join, because there's so much to do beside just talk Buffy. And the karma. 😉

And thank you, Darla. Without you, this is nothing, we are nothing, and you should know that we genuinely appreciate that. (I also need a pair of new glasses, because staring at the screen for hours on end can't possibly end well. I'll send you my address in a PM. 😛)
