Okay, I think most things are taken care of so I will go ahead and post about some of the stuff.
First of all, we are still working on integrating the gallery with this new version of vbulletin. You can view the existing pictures at https://buffy-boards.com/gallery, but please do not try to register or add additional pics because that could screw it up when we do get it integrated again.
Second, we have moved to a new links program, because a) the old one is not yet available for this version of vb and b) this one is based on the one we had but has some additional functions. I'll add the links that were in the old database back, but feel free to add your link to the new one instead of waiting for me.
Third, and very important: please read the FAQ. All the board rules have been moved in there and updated. There is also a section for if you are having problems with something on the boards, and a guide to some of the new features of the site. So if you are having trouble, check the faq first. We will keep adding to that as needed. Also, the banner makers list is now located in the faq as well, under "Can someone make me a banner?"
Features themselves...the most prominant is probably the Pets you can find in posts (get one in your Edit Profile). This is really just for fun - it doesn't really serve a purpose and your hp and exp will go up and down as you post.
Profiles also now display your time spent on the boards, your forum activeness and recent threads you've posted.
You can now choose in Edit Options whether to view the boards at a fixed width or to ahve it expand to your screen size, whether to view posts in the old or new style, and you can also choose which forums (if any) you don't want to be included when you click on the 'New Posts' link.
At the bottom of the screen you'll notice a link to invite friends to join the boards (Refer Friends).
A couple functions: [Disable] vb code, which lets you make a vb tag not work. For example, if you are describing to someone how to put a banner in their signature you can put [disable][/disable ] and it will make the img tag not work (so the person can see that you've typed ).
You can also use /me in posts to post actions (like in a chat program).
We now have the drop down style chooser at the bottom of the page - the number of people using each one is not yet available in this version but as soon as it is I will add it.
You can also use [sub] and [sup] tags to do subscript and superscript if you need to. Allycat, this one's for you...
The avatar is now shown on the main page, as requested. We kept the episodes going down the side as it worked out better that way but that's not to say we won't change that in the future.
We're still working on / discussing / looking for the following other things that were suggested:
- monthly contest
- spell check
- see all posts since x time
- shipper listings
- adoptions
Posting: To use the quick reply you need to activate the box by clicking on the little icon next to edit and reply with quote that looks like a page. This lets you quote any post in the quick reply. There is also a quick pm reply now.
Why are there two reply buttons? The big one on the left is the normal reply, the smaller reply button next to edit is the reply with quote button that quotes that post.
Reputation: That's the little green jewel thing in posts. People can add to your reputation via a button in the top right hand corner of posts. And the little sayings change I guess. You have to turn this on in your options.
The Poll: Is not working for some reason, so I've removed it until I can get it fixed.
The on/off new post indicators on the main page should now turn off once you've read all the threads in the forum. Like all things cookies, its not perfect so sometimes you'll have to go back in the forum a second time before the light goes out.
Signatures: Only the first 150 pixels high of your sig will show in posts, so now you'll know if your sig's too big. lol. Sign also only show once per person per page of a thread. See the faq for more on sigs.
You can now upload a profile picture. This is pretty self explanatory.
Spoilers - you can now use a popup ([spoiler=click me]) or the original kind ([spoiler]). The popup kind is cool but it has a problem with quotes (') so you either have to use the old style spoiler tags if you need to use a ' , or take out the '.
I think that's mostly it for now. We may still be tweaking stuff and of course I'm still working on the stuff I mentioned in this post. Okay, going to bed cause I've been working on this 39 hours straight.
