Just curious, what sort of permanent scars do you have and how did you get them?

I have a few....a small one on my knee that I got from accidentally tripping and kicking up a stick that took a decent chunk of flesh from my knee. I have another one on my chin from falling off a ladder when I was 8 and knocking myself out by whacking it on a steel drum on the way down. I also have s slight scar right in the centre of the top of my forehead from getting bit by a spider when I was 16. It it noticable but doesn't really worry me like it used to...plus I could always just cut my hair to cover it and never have.

How about it folks? Care to share?

I have a scar above my eyebrow after hitting my head while running to the bathroom after watching Shira and the Sword (you know Heeman's superpowered sister).. or whatever it was called 😛

Oh and I was 5 at the time.. this wasn't last week or anything. 😉 Not very eventful except that the Dr started sewing me up without drugs. Ouch.

I have a lot of scars on my knees for all the time I either fell (sometimes on gravel) or hit my knee against something really hard. I probably ought to be more careful.
Same goes for my hands. There I have smaller and lesser scars, but still quite a few. The most noticible one is from when I accidentally scrached my right hand open with one of my left hand fingernails while I was trying to lift something heavy.

I have scars all over, mostly not permanant, but some of 'em are. When I was 6, I tripped over a skipping rope, lost my two front teeth, and got a big scar on my knee, it stayed there for 4 years, and is still kinda there, but it's REALLY hard to see.

A scar on my thumb from which a nail was stuck in there when I was little. 🙂

I have a permanent scar running down my cheek, from a cat scratching me on the face when I was four years old. It's very faint but is dented into my skin! I've met someone with that scar before lol.

If I were to list all of my surgery scars we'd be here until next year's award ceremony, but my hands are pretty scarred up from a life of not wearing my gloves when I should have, and there's one on my lower lip where I fell through a tin roof when I was a kid, and a very impressive burn scar on my right foot, and, last but certainly not least, is the scar where my first girlfriend broke my heart (you know SOMEBODY was gonna say it eventually, I was just the first one to remember that old joke.)

I was very ill in my baby age - so, after some surgeries I've got plenty of tiny scars on my arms, chest, belly.. Though, the only noticeable ones are on my arms.
Also, I was uite a vivid kid - a tomboy - playing war games with guys - my knees could never heal enough. 🙂

I have two scars. No sorry three. Just one's really tiny. I have a small one on my left arm from me and my cousin fighting when I was about twelve. We got incredibly carried away and he decided to use a pencil as a weapon.
I have a scar on my knee where I got hit, yet not knocked down oddly enough, by a car when I wasn't looking crossing the road in High School
And finally I have one that use to be visible on the....left side of my head. But for some reason I've got older my hairline seems to have changed slightly and now it's mostly covered. And I got that from when I was seven, sliding down the banister at my grandmother's because I thought I could be Mary Poppins.

Ok, lets see.

I have one on my left upper arm where a girl scrabbed me in Nursery School.

I have a long scar on my left thumb where I cut it open with a palette knife trying to get a piece of a model kit off the plastic runner.

A thickish scar on my right eyebrow hidden under the hair where I split my eyebrow open with a door edge.

A lot of faint scars on my left wrist and upper arm from self harming.

There's no scar so much as a strange patch of skin on my left third finger, where I sliced it cleanly open to the bone with one of those planer things you use to shave wooden edges down.

Several now from my rather psychotic kitten all over my right hand.

One on the right knub of my collar bone from another kitten.

Patches of mottled skin on the back of my left hand from having nearly flayed all the skin off, tripped an scuffed it along stone.

First knuckle, left hand has a patch of very faintly reddish skin from having lost it to Hydrochloric acid, it grew back more or less ok.

One thats near gone now just on the right hand side of my nose where some idiot tried to split my face with his nails in Primary School.

An indentation on my right shoulder where I anxiously picked away at something until I made a hole through the skin before I was stopped.

Three pronounced blade cause scars, a trench like scar rather than raised on my left palm because someone left a sharp blade lying face up without warning anyone. Second one nearly took my right little finger off but only cut into the skin deep, left a dark red line every since. Third on left wrist, razor, rather not say.

Scar tissue on my left elbow from a bad friction burn. Phys. Ed. class, a girl, don't ask.

Long faint mark about 6-8 inches across my lower back from when my brother tried to kill me.

Minor surgery scars on both feet lol.

Think thats about it, you can hardly see most of them and practically none of them give me any bother so can't complain 🙂

Hmmm. My most pronounced scar would be that from my c-sections. Not that anyone sees that but my husband. It's a badge of honor, though. 4 c-sections in a little less then 6 years (3 of those in a 2 year, 4 month span).

Other then that I have a scar on my back about the size of a silver dollar right between my shoulder blades from when I had a mole removed when I was 15. The doctor said I wouldn't have a noticeable scar but the stitches pulled out and it was a mess (and hurt like hell too). It still bothers me.

Not a scar but I have indentations on both my thighs from when my legs were crushed on a ferris wheel when I was 16. I don't think people can see them but I can when I have tight pants on and I can feel them if I run my hands along my legs. They aren't as bad as when I was a kid--back then you could see them when I was wearing shorts.

I also have a finger that won't straighten out. When I was 10 I tripped and bent it all the way back to touch my wrist (in the wrong direction). I had splint on it for 2 weeks and it healed with the middle knuckle bent. If I hold my hand naturally it is bent and out of place. Then when I was in college I was screwing around with a friend and went to kick me and I blocked and he jammed all my fingers. Then another guy so graciously grabbed my hand and dislocated that same finger. I had no medical insurance so never had it looked at. 9-10 years later and I still can't fully bend that knuckle but it doesn't hurt like it did back then (I couldn't move it for months afterwards).

I also have a million tiny little scars all over my arms because I have always picked at my scabs (I was such a tomboy as a kid). As I got older it has become a complete obsessive compulsive thing--I don't even realize I'm doing it and can't stop (it's a stress thing). Some of the scars go back to when I was 10 and my cat scratched me real deep. I just picked at it until it left one mighty big scar across my arm.

Now that Jen mentions it I have a toe that does something similar after having hit it against a stair. A cut across the top of it from a stone and worked under the skin as well.

Several smaller ones on my knees, one main one on my left knee where a stone punctured.

A black mark on my right cheek where a girl stabbed me in the face with a pencil during her panic attack.

Probably still more I'm forgetting.

I've got a nice scar from head butting a concrete step when I was two in the center of my forehead.
A scar above the left eyebrow and on the upper and lower eyelid from landing on my head on the road, just after the front brake locked on my bike.
A nice scar across my left leg just above the knee where a 12 inch angle grinder attacked me.
And a nice one down the back of my head and neck after an operation.
Several other smaller scars 3 to 10 stitches from working and falling off motorcycles on snow or black ice.
A nice phsycological scar from rubbing my right knee along a trucks front bumper, good thing I was the pillion on a motorbike doing 120 mph, seems the guy riding the bike didn't know the road was there.

those nasty angle grinders!
A scar above the left eyebrow and on the upper and lower eyelid from landing on my head on the road, just after the front brake locked on my bike.

I've done that, lol. I was about 16 or 17 and just back from a long bike ride. I was going down my alley where my brother and our neighbors were playing basketball. I was maybe 6 houses from home and the break handle actually came loose from the handle bars and, of course, got caught in the wheel and I went flying, Superman style. I landed on my right knee, sheering the skin right off from my knee half way down my shin, and in my left elbow (doing the same to it) and skinning the palms of my hands. Then I rolled a few times, coming to a stop on my back. I remember throwing my hands over my head because I was sure the bike was going to land on me, but it didn't. Then I checked every limb to make sure nothing was broken.

I couldn't get up, though, because I knocked the wind out of me and the whole time I can hear my brother laughing hysterically. Finally the kid that lived down the street from me came over to check if I was okay and helped me home.

It was actually pretty funny until the adrenaline wore off and my blood sugar dropped and I almost passed out and fell down the stairs. Amazingly enough, no scars from that incident which surprised me considering the damage I did to my leg and arm.

I have one running along the skin from the hairline to just behind the earlob on my right side where I had ear surgery to repair a perforated ear drum (a hole in it) when I was 12.

I also have one my left index finger on the underside. About an 3 cm long. I was playing with a steak knife (duh), trying to cut through the paper circle that comes on top of the frozen pizzas, and sliced through the paper and my finger. That was not good!

Oh justanotherjen, you got it wrong !.
When doing an impression of superman your meant to keep you're legs and arms straight, there is a down side to that though...you land on your head.
The good side being they had the siren on all the way to the hospital, don't think my mum was to impressed though. That may have been because they couldn't put bandages on my face cos it was swelling. But I digress, the superman flying thing, it isn't a pleasant experience getting it right, especially if the landing is wrong.

I have a scar on my right arm from one time in third grade I scraped it against a big honkin' thing of barbed wire. I had to go get a tetnis shot, too!

It's not super noticeable but you can still see it.

Kid Years

I have a small scar on my forehead close to my hairline because I bumped my head as a kid. (Who hasn't)

I have a scar on the right side of my nose from scratching chicken pox.

I have a scar on my chin from jumping on the bed and landing face first on the floor.

Teen Years

I have burn scars on both hands from cooking with hot oil. They aren't noticeable though.

I have a scar on my right foot from when I went to check the power box at the basement and the HARD HEAVY METAL cover fell and cut my foot. I cried that day.

I have a scar on my knee from when I was about 4 and we were walking on a boardwalk and then I tripped and there was blood going all down my knee and I still have it!

I have small scars on my knees one from when I fell over on gravel and nearly split my knee open, the rest were self inflicted one on my thumb from where I had my grandad shut it in the door by accident and I had to go to the Hospital, luckilly I only needed a bandage!

and small ones where I cut my fingers cutting food!
