Body scars

I have itty bitty scars all over my body from needles and IVs and tubes and stuff. For some reason, they're most noticeable on my hands and feet.

On one foot, I have a scar from stepping on a nail when I was a kid.

My knees are scarred up from various knee-scraping incidents.

I've also got a few head bump scars.

I have a rather large burn scar thingie on my elbow -- got it from a 12 hour shift at the popcorn kettle back when I worked in a movie theater.

The BIG scar is from my heart surgery, though. It sort of runs around my shoulder blade and down under my armpit and then it peeks out around front under my breast (at the natural crease, fortunately). It's huge. It, like, grew with me or something. The funny thing is, I didn't notice it until I was 14 or so. I was trying on my first bikini. I turned around, saw the scar around my shoulder blade, and freaked out. I was like, "Mom! What is that?!" That's when I found out I'd had a heart surgery when I was an infant. Anyway, there are also clumpy little knots of scar tissue under both armpits. I didn't find those until I was older and was doing one of those self-breast-cancer exams. I asked the doctor and she said it was scar tissue... probably from some sort of drainage when I was a baby. Eww, huh? I mean, they drained something out of me? Ick. I was born three months early and had a bunch of issues, hence the scarring about which I do not know very much. lol. Finding the big, giant heart surgery scar at 14 was really weird, though. I can't believe I went that long without noticing it!

As someone who has a bad heart, you have my sympathies *hugs*
wow... lets see....

I have a scar on the inside of my lip from when i was like 3 and we were playing horsey... I was told to hold on and i didn't he bucked me alittle and i went flying. I ended up knocking one of my bottom teeth through my lip... that tooth still didn't grow back right..

When i was like 8 i had my bedroom in the basement i thought it was cool... only problem was the light was one of those ones that you had to grab the string to turn off... well i couldn't reach it unless i stood on my footboard.... well my foot slipped and i went down... I caught my shin on the nightstand lol

i have 9 scars on my upper right arm from when i was 7 and was attacked by two huge rottwielers i also have one on my chest from them.... my tricept or Bicept muscle also needed to be sewn up from that attack....

When i was 14... i was eating a ham and cheese hotpocket... while sitting in a reclining chair watching t.v... a glob of cheese fell out onto my chest and I had a blonde moment i didn't want to use my finger to get it off cause i didn't want to burn it. Yeah so it burned me bad on my chest and when the blister popped i dont know it wasn't healed so it scared.

and i have a few slight scars from my cat... a few from the dog... but nothing serious lol that is my scar stories 😀

I just remembered...it's not really a scar but my left ankle is a little pointier than my right one from spraining about a dozen or so times my last year of high school. Klutz much? I think I spent heaps of time hobbling around and now my ankle is really bony.

I still twist it every now and then. Thankfully not as badly as I used to. Or as often.

I bit my tounge off when I was 2 yrs old, luckily I dont remember it!
I was crawling on the table with my tounge hanging out pretending to be a dog. My older sister and mum told me repeatedly not to do it so of course I did. I slipped off the side of the table and bit right through my tounge . Once again I was lucky in that it was holding on at the side by less then 1 cm but enough that blood was still flowing into the disconnected bit! coz your tounge is muscle it cant be stitched so I had ages of not being able to eat solids (nasel gastric tube instead YUK). Still glad I dont remember It!

heaps of other scars, far more than I care to mention due to mental illness but Im all over that now.

Plenty of childhood scars from my many sports, netball especially!
And the joys of working with yearlings now will no doubt add more to my scar collection! hehe

Sympathy karma! That must have been horrible. I'm glad you don't remember it, too.

Ouch :( *hugs*
Oh justanotherjen, you got it wrong !.
When doing an impression of superman your meant to keep you're legs and arms straight, there is a down side to that though...you land on your head.
The good side being they had the siren on all the way to the hospital, don't think my mum was to impressed though. That may have been because they couldn't put bandages on my face cos it was swelling. But I digress, the superman flying thing, it isn't a pleasant experience getting it right, especially if the landing is wrong.

haha, true. I did do the Superman. I remember thinking as it was happening, this is pretty funny...or it would be if it wasn't going to hurt so much and at the very last second I ducked and covered my face. That's why I landed on my knee and elbow in a very awkward position. It all happened in a split second, though. I'm still amazed I wasn't injured worse. My bike didn't fair as well, though. Half the spokes were broken and the rim was bent all to hell. My dad had to replace it.

We need a post that just talks about crazy accidents we've had, lol. I've had my share of crazy things happen to me that didn't leave actual scars (maybe psychological ones).

Most of my scars are on my hands, I think I have about 6 in total. I have one on a knuckle on my left hand from trapping it in the step ladders when I was very little, a scar down the palm of my left hand from when me and my brother were fighting over a pair of scissors (clever huh?) and a circular mark on the top of my left hand from a deoderant being sprayed on me and freezing my hand, now that hurt! I have 2 scars on my right hand too, one from a burn and the other no idea how. I dislocated my little right finger when I was younger too but that isnt a scar, it just doesnt go properly straight.

I have several scars on my legs too, though they'll probably fade eventually, they're from shaving (I'm not the best at it....)

God, we're a scarred bunch aren't we? What a motley crew! haha.

Anyway, I just remembered another scar I have. Though this one is very, very tiny. It's a scratch about a centimeter wide on the inside of my right wrist. I got this in high school when, wait for it, there was a serial pin-pricker going around. Yes. A serial. Pin-pricker.

You the pointy end of a compass? That your teachers when you were little used to warn you about? Well someone when I was in.....tenth grade I think? Might have been eleventh. Anyhoo, this student (we never actually found out who it was) had taken one of the compasses from the maths class and was, when there were crowds in the corridor, randomly stabbing people with it! And I got stabbed in the wrist. Which meant not only ow, but also more ow as the teacher sent any who had been erm...poked....to get a tetanus shot. Not a good day for me, that. Haha.

I have a scar right on the bridge of my nose between my eyes which is in the shape of a Y. I fell when I was younger and butted a bench that was in our back room. I had 5 butterfly stitches 🙂 I have a scar over my right eye as well, just under my eyebrow where I butted a steering wheel thing.

I've also got a scar running down the inside of my left inner thigh where I fell off a wall when I was younger and scraped down the inside of my lef. I've also got a circular scar on the back of my left leg where I trapped my leg in my bike when I fell off it one time.

A have a big scar on the side of my knee, I can't remember the injury but I remember it was painful. (Weird, eh?) I have a scar between my thumb and index finger, from a butcher knife. I was like ten and trying to open this HUGE metal can of peanut butter by stabbing it with a knife and stabbed my hand instead.

I used to have scars all up and down my arm from where my brother scratched me with his disgusting claws but they've pretty much faded into nothingness.

My mom and sister say I have a small scar on my back from when I was 5 and backed into a corner of a dresser. But I can't see it cause it's on my back :silly:

they're lying! just like the time i told my sis that she would get a third nipple when she turned 13 :)
I have 2 really bad scars on my knees. One was from falling off my bike age 7 and having the curb take a huge chunk out of it!!!

The other one is from tripping on the playground when I was about 10 and sliding for about half a mile on my knee... that was another cracking injury.

I've also got 2 scars on my right hand on the top of it... near my thumb. When I was at uni we had a really dodgy grill, for some bizarre reason I always used to think it was a good idea to make food with the grill when I was drunk and proceeded to burn myself twice... clever eh!

very cleaver with the burns... i do the same thing!
I've got one scar at the top of my chest, just below my neck, thats about 4 inches by 2 inches, one at the top of my right arm, which is about 2 inches in diameter, a little one under my chin, all from when I was about 18 months old and decided to pull a really hot iron onto myself. : erm :

I've also got scars on the top of my right thigh, where I had to have skin taken to use for skin grafts, to replace the skin I lost from when the iron was taken off. ::huh1::

I think it'd be a lot simpler to fix nowadays, but this was back in 1972, so I'm just glad I was too young to remember.
