I don't often post on BB anymore, but as someone who has posted/lurked since 2000, this place sometimes feels like home at times. I have worked for the Foreign Office for nearly ten years now and while I don't know anyone personally in Istanbul, I have spent most of tonight comforting people who have lost friends. The bombings today have come as a complete shock. Although those who work for the British Diplomatic Service know they can be seen as targets, this is the first time we have been attacked in such a way. It really is like attacking your family. Personally, I have been looking out the window of the Embassy here (i am in the Consular section) and wondering if we are next. So, please, if you believe in god, pray for those who have died today in the service of their country.
