Zack Addy? I dunno, he hasn't been on the show since season 4, right fans? When was the 100th episode? He appeared in that one.

Zack's in an insane asylum for assisting a cannibalistic serial killer named Gormogon. Last I checked anyway.
 
Someone said they were disappointed with the Zack storyline. I thought he must have come back for an episode or something. Sorry. My bad. 😀

Awww. Zach, how I loved him. I definitely miss him. Not really sure why they got rid of him. If it were just story wise or if they wrote him out for another reason.

Last night's episode: I am really, really wanting at least a teeny bit of B/B PDA. I mean, they're together after all, and all we get is a little belly rub/pat. It doesn't need to be OTT, but a little bit of romance/sexiness would be great. Maybe I'm alone in that. I usually record the episode and watch it after the kids are in bed and typically I FF through the beginning credits. But I just loooove that little snippet of B/B in bed from the episode last season.

Yay, Billy Gibbs is back, hangin' with his grandson!! I love baby Hodgins.
Love that Grandpa got him to go to sleep with blues music LOL.

I have to say that the cases this season have really not grabbed me & are kind of unforgettable. I hope that changes as the season progresses. I do like the Booth/Sweets pairing as alternate partners, they're hilarious.
 
Is anybody else watching tonight? I'm about 35 minutes in. I'm really into the subject of childbirth, so I'm anxious to see how it ends. Daisy in doula training cracks me up, but I can't stop myself from pointing out that doulas do not check cervical dilation. They are labor support professionals not medical care providers. OK just ignore me and my geekiness. I'm going to finish watching and I'll write more later.
 
I finally watched the last episode. Overall I have mixed feelings. I loved that the birth didn't go as planned and that neither of them got their way; it was a nice little surprise that seemed to be good for both of them. I wasn't crazy about Bones' sense of security while in the prison; it seemed so unrealistic and a bit cheesy.

I loved Sweets, his fluffy hair and his excitement over his friendship with Booth was funny. I'd like to see the two of them interact more on a friends level outside of work.

I hope we get to see Parker interact with the baby in the next couple episodes.

Does anyone know if Caroline will be back? I miss her!

SPOILER ALERT! If you watch Bones on Fox and either Tivo or get a season’s pass online, DO NOT READ BELOW unless you want to know all about the birth.

Yes the birth. Bones fans (my family included) finally got what they’ve been waiting for all season. After two of the main characters had a natural birth with no pain medication last season, Bones writers broke with tradition and wrote in another birth into the current season. Usually two births, two seasons in a row would be a no-no, but the setup was too perfect – actress Emily Deschanel actually was pregnant. Her baby was born last autumn. Her character’s baby was born last night.

For those who don’t know, the Bones character, Dr. Temperance Brennan, is a forensic anthropologist. Despite being a crime-fighter, she would doubtless have studied numerous cultures and their birthing customs. Home birth fans and activists will be thrilled to know that the show was packed with arguments about the advantages of home birth, including concerns about bodily fluids in the hallways of L&D units and concerns about needing to feel safe in one’s environment while giving birth – all the stuff natural birth advocates have been saying for years. In addition, one of the characters even plans to become a doula to help with the birth.

After giving birth outside the hospital (I won’t say where so as to not spoil everything) Bones arrives home with her new baby in arms, clearly able to walk and behave normally. Those who haven’t been at a home birth may think this is ridiculous, but I remember being in my kitchen making a bowl of soup with my 3-hour-old newborn in my arms. It was probably not the best idea, but it was not at all impossible. That is what normal birth looks like. Finally, mainstream TV got it right.

Mostly. One more spoiler for you – there is no birth attendant other than the baby’s father, Booth. While there is a movement toward unassisted birth in our country, generally speaking, home birth is safer with a skilled attendant present – someone who has neonatal resuscitation skills and carries anti-hemorrhage medications. Nurse-midwives and professional midwives both meet this criteria, however Certified Professional Midwives are the only ones whose certification process requires a designated amount of out-of-hospital training.

Lack of midwives aside, this birth was, by far, the best I’ve seen on TV since more than a decades ago when characters on Northern Exposure had a beautiful home birth. Maybe the recent significant increase in home births will encourage more networks to get real.

Everyone’s favorite vegetarian scientist is back! Last night the spring premiere of fan favorite show “Bones” didn’t disappoint. (Beware: This post contains spoilers, but only about the birthing choices.)

Temperance Brennan, the rational scientist with a heart of gold, had her baby. While that’s great, we’re more interested in “how” she had her baby. In typical “Bones” fashion Brennan and Booth didn’t see eye to eye on how the baby should be born. Booth believes that a hospital is the safest place to have a child in case there are complications. Brennan wants to have a natural birth at home.

When Booth tries to convince her of the safety benefits while on a tour of the hospital, Brennan says, “On the contrary, hospitals are breeding grounds for antibiotic resistant super germs leading to high incidents of e. coli and staphylococcus infections.”

Then, the scientist we all know and love breaks out the black light to show all the nasty human gunk on the walls and floors. She says, “Based on the spatter patterns of the viscosity, I see indications of blood, blood, cerebral spinal fluid, amnitotic fluid, blood, more blood…”

At that point, the others on the tour are horrified and jump ship. You’ll have to watch the episode to see how the rest of it goes down.

As for Emily Deschanel’s personal birthing experience, the actress opted to also take a natural route. She told Pregnancy Weekly, “We’ve been taking HypnoBirthing classes, and I plan to do that. David will be with me, and also a doula.”

She’s not alone. Other celebrity advocates of natural births include Mayim Bialik who wrote the book “Beyond the Sling” dealing with the topic, and Ricky Lake who created a documentary called “The Business of Being Born.”

And for those of us veggies who were annoyed when Phoebe from friends ate meat during her pregnancy, Bones stays true to her diet and looks disgusted when someone suggests she eats beef to satisfy any cravings.

2 natural births in one television series- must be some kind of record LOL. the scene at the hospital was freaking hilarious. And I loved when Booth looks at her and says "I love you." I was kind of disappointed that she didn't birth squatting: everything she said about it in prior episodes is true. But the ending was so beautiful. The birth scene, and the scene where they came home. Although I've always heard it pronounce "stape-eez". But cute nonetheless. Did anybody else want to go: "Bones, go take a shower and put your feet up girl, you just had a baby!!" 😀
 
So Bones is basically naming her daughter Christian Angel? Don't feel very Bones-y if you ask me. Booth should be jumping of joy. Naming it after mother and best friend feels natural though. I just think the coincidence is "funny".

Absolutely didn't even think of that! Also, not sure if I just missed this an earlier episode but what surname is Christina taking? Brennan-Booth, Booth-Brennan, Booth, Brennan?

For those of you in the UK, Bones is back on on Wednesday 18th April on Sky Living. I so cant wait, it feels like the longest break ever 🙂
