Bones in UK

I watched it this morning (taped it last night). Nice stuff, some of the crime scene/science stuff goes over my head but nice all the same. I hope Brennan learns some pop culture references. I understand her character won't at this point but how many times did she say "I don't know what that means" last night?

Quite happy you nice folks in the UK are finally getting to see "Bones". The character interactions...particularly between the Temperance and Boothe (sp?) characters....are what makes this show especially fun. You can be assured that with each passing episode the show's writing will steadily improve and strengthen. Y'all won't be dissapointed.

Enjoy!

OK, so i can chat about it.....cool.
Well, i'll start of by saying that i liked it.
The lead characters(Brennan and Boothe(is that the Boreanaz Character-hey only seen one ep) had a great chemistry, infact i could say argue Deshanel(?) and Boreanaz zinged, for me, better then any actor and Boreanaz on Buffy OR Angel.
HOWEVER, one thing did grate my potato a fair bit. The thing that irked me was also something that i enjoyed at first.
The run on sentances. The everyone finishing for each other....blah.
It just started getting annoying thatyou'd have along shot of three characters, and it would be *ping*, *ping*, *ping*, *ping*, *ping*. I mean i do like this kind of stuff occasionally, but too often and it gets aggravating.

I liked the restof the stuff, though another point thatgot to me. Most shows when they have the first episode, you knowits the very first episode, every scene instills the 'this is the first time you've seen this show....enjoy' factor, but this first episode, didn't....this episode could have been episode 2 or 22, there wasn't any specialness about it...and i know, it WAS the first episode, so that fact alone makes it have the grr stuff.....but what i mean is, i can watch Welcome to the Hellmouth, City of Angel, Encounter at Farpoint, Caretaker, The One where Monica gets a Roommate, SG-1 opener, the Smallville opener and i feel this was the first episode......but Bones, in a years time, i'll have the entire season at hand(lets face it, i'll get the DVD), and i could watch lasts nights episode, and other then the fact it will say episode 101, it won't give that same feeling.

I didnt like it.

I cant explain it but I just didnt like it, which is surprising to myself because I like david boreanaz and forensic programmes like csi, but..I just didnt like it.

Perhaps its the fact that david Boreanaz has moved on from Angel and I finally have to face the music. No more Angel!

But I'm going to give it a chance and watch the first few at least to see if it improves. But in my impression not a good opening episode. It didnt grab me and make me want to watch it, the only thing that did was david .

IT gets better, but not much. There is nothing standout about it. David is good in it, but after about 4 or 5 episodes, he starts to overact his part. I don't suspect the show will last too long.

I would hope it does get at least a little better because that first episode was dire. The characters were just incredibly predictable and stereotypical and the dialogue (the parts you could understand when the cast werent speaking incredibly fast) was disjointed at best. And who hadn't worked out the murderer by about twenty minutes into the episode? Very few people, i'd say.

I'll give the show my usual three or four weeks to impress me but i don't have high hopes for keeping Bones on my must watch list.

The second episode airs tonight.

I'm detetrmined to give this show a chance as I really want something to fill the gap now that lost is gone till spring, and invasion sucked, and 24 doesnt start for a while I need something to watch!

If I manage to sit through the whole episode I will post my thoughts (and criticisms) later tonight.

You thought Invasion sucked? I've been quite impressed with it so far. Needs to start dropping a few more hints about the actual nature of the aliens but i reckon it has some very strong characters and a good foundation to become a fantastic show.

You can definately feel the American Gothic roots of the show, which is probably why i'm getting into it.

Bones, however, not so much!

I'm the same, The Watcher! I'm loving Invasion but I am really finding it difficult to get into Bones. I'm still going to watch it just because David is in it, but I am really enjoying Invasion more!

Supernatural starts on Sunday so Sunday nights are getting good for me! Invasion then that!

Once again I couldn't sit through the episode of Bones. I think I'm gonna give it a miss from now on. Thoroughly unimpressed.

I'm not really sure why I didnt like invasion, the acting was quite good, but I thought it was a bit cheesey. I saw war of the worlds the day before the season opener and thought they were suprisingly similar.

Also I just saw an advert for prison break. Its 'coming soon' to chanel five. I dont know that much about it but I'll give a a try.

I was sooo psyched when I was in Ireland and saw adverts for Bones! It was like, the first or second ep that I saw sutff on Sky One for, and it made me giggle maniacally (terrifying my roommate)

I'm with you lot.
I've enjoyed Bones to the point of something on instead of nothing.....but i'm not seeing anything, so far, that i would miss if it was cancelled.

I mean one scene irked me the other day....FBI Agent Booth walks in on the group who are having one of the few conversations that is in layman speak that even a 10 year old could understand and ist 'I'm gonna need subtitles while i'm with you' or something. They are setting Boreanaz up as the Hot Dumb male lead....who plays with guns

And Please for the sake of all that is precious and holy to this world and the next, will someone body tell me that the 'Conspiracy Guy' who works with Brennan is killed soon.......i really hate him....he is just OTT on that.

As for Invasion....It began....i was a bit skeptical...its never got me excited that its on...but the acting is good....i just hate the 'Alien' stingrays(i'm notsure what they are but they look like them above water...lol)

No, the shows i have started getting excited about Surface(Monday ITV2 at 9pm) and Threshold..Brent Spiner in this is fabulous..

It's ironic that, of all the shows discussed in this thread, Bones is the only one that is pretty much certain of a second season, and it's the one we are largely the least impressed with.

Both Invasion and Surface are certain of a full 22 episode first season but after that it could go either way because the ratings for both shows are borderline. Threshold hasn't even been that lucky as it's already been axed.

Supernatural is about the only new genre series this year that is almost definately going to see a second year.

Im still liking it. Im not saying its perfect or anything but alright all the same. I see some potential, but then I also see how it could go worse. The whole "Temperence's parents were mysteriously killed" is just too over talked about, its so gonna turn up in a "very special" episode, possibly the finale.

E
Edmund Blackadder
Or infact they weren't killed, and they are part of some secret plot nvolving something sinister in the White House.......hey, i think i'm turning into that crap Conspiracy guy.....i swear i will not perm!!!
