Awwww man. That is wack. Now I don't know wether I should watch Bones or Veronica Mars. Oh well. At least I have like a month and a half to make up my mind.

Wait a minute...isn't "LOST" in that same timeslot for Wednesdays? Why would FOX put "Bones" in direct competition against a powerhouse like "LOST"? I love "Bones", but LOST is gonna kill it.

Another boneheaded move by FOX.

Another in a long line...with more to come, I'm sure! (how ya doing, pal?)
That timeslot is going to be packed. Prison Break is supposed to move there also.

Oooog. I'm hoping the Canadian carrier (Global) leaves it where it is, so I can get all my TV watching done without overlap...and yes, why put it up against Lost? It'll be massacred...

i agree....first firefly......then point pleasant.......next, it will be bones..i can just see it now *crosses fingers while knocking on wood* (ouch)

Yup...."Bones" is doomed in this time slot. It hasn't got a chance against "Lost"

Way to go Fox...you just killed this series....:fuming:

nerd4hire, Prison Break isn't going to be on at the same time. Both shows are on the same channel. Prison Break returns Monday, March 13 at 9 pm.

Bones has had decent ratings I hear so I don't think we need to worry about cancellation.... yet.

Oops (blushes). Thanks for the correction Slayerpower. That's what I get for posting without double-checking my info.

I'm reformed I promise. 😀 In fact I did just double-check and here's the most recent info I could find from Google news. (Apparently Bones will follow the American Idol Results show. That not a bad lead-in.)

LOCATION: The Fox Network

THE SKINNY: The speculation can cease as FOX announces its mid-season schedule and television's No. 1 show, AMERICAN IDOL, remains in its dominant Tuesday/Wednesday time periods throughout spring 2006. Making the announcement was Peter Liguori, President, Entertainment for FOX.

"With all of the speculation and rumor, it's great to finally announce the premiere of the second half of our season," Liguori said. "It takes discipline to hold back 24 and AMERICAN IDOL, but doing so allows us to strengthen our schedule across the week and to give our viewers nonstop excitement from January through May." He added: "I'm also pleased to announce that we're bringing back PRISON BREAK earlier than planned because fans are demanding it and because it's a fantastic companion for 24. All of this necessitates some other moves, but we're keeping HOUSE behind the IDOL performance show, where it performed so successfully last year."

24 premieres with a two-day, four-hour event Sunday, Jan. 15 and Monday, Jan. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM). 24 will air original episodes "“ no repeats "“ every week for the rest of the season.

AMERICAN IDOL's fifth season will launch with a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 17 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and a one-hour episode on Wednesday, Jan. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), prior to a special premiere of SKATING WITH CELEBRITIES (9:00-10:00 PM). SKATING moves to its regular 8:00 PM time period on Monday, Jan. 23, followed by an all-new episode of 24. The AMERICAN IDOL results show will move to its regular 9:00-9:30 PM time slot at a date TBA.

Other January news includes HOUSE remaining in its current 9:00 PM Tuesday time period; the move of the new hit drama BONES to Wednesdays at 9:00 PM (following the AMERICAN IDOL results show) beginning Jan. 25; and the return of TRADING SPOUSES on Fridays at 9:00 PM beginning Jan. 6. February brings the season finale of REUNION on Thursday, Feb. 2.

In March, the most talked-about new drama this season is back as PRISON BREAK returns with an encore of this past Monday's fall finale on Monday, March 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), and then thrilling, all-original episodes "“ no repeats for the rest of the season "“ beginning Monday, March 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). Also in March, THAT "˜70s SHOW and STACKED air from 9:00 to 10:00 PM on Thursdays after THE O.C, beginning March 2.

Not just Lost but Veronica Mars as well, i believe. Two very popular shows that already have loyal audiences.

Methinks Bones is unlikely to see a season 2!

Veronica Mars is not popular. Popular among internet users, maybe (myself included, but the ratings are terrible. It's not likely to see another season.

Maybe so but a large portion of Bones' potential audience are Whedonverse fans who have followed David to the show. Those same fans are also a large portion of Veronica Mars fans, due to the Alyson/Charisma connection, not to mention the fact that Joss himself is a self proclaimed Veronica Mars addict.

Whichever way you cut it, having the two shows in competition is going to hurt one of them and i foresee that being Bones.

I wouldn't be so sure it won't see a third season. The criteria that UPN uses to determine if a show is doing well for them is different than the numbers that a bigger network expects to post. Veronica Mars always gets crushed in its timeslot, but of the dozen-or-so shows on UPN, it's the third-highest rated after America's Next Top Model and Everybody Hates Chris. Or course, an hour-long drama like VM is also much more expensive to produce than most of UPN's sitcoms, so you might be right.

It is doing a little better in the ratings this year than it did last year, and I think it would do even better up against almost any show on tv besides Lost (and now Bones). The network actually thought they were doing VM a favor putting it on Wed at 9, 'cause their top-rated show is the lead-in Wed at 8 show. Then Lost moved back an hour and messed the whole thing up. 🙂

Thank god for DVRs. Unfortunately, I can only TiVo two shows at once, so I think I've seen my last episode of Bones until one of those three shows jumps timeslots again. And just when we were starting to get to know the rest of the cast, too.

I heard that Bones will move to 8 pm on Wednesdays once American Idol begins it's results show.

Are you sure? In the article quoted in my last post they say the results show will air at 8, and Bones at 9. 😉

Another night directly impacted by Idol, which will be paired initially with Bones at 9 pm/ET (against Lost!), and then when the results-show format kicks in (moving to 9), Bones will move to 8 (a much kinder time period for it) and Idol will be paired with some no-doubt-forgettable comedy.
