I know it's a bit early for this discussion, especially considering this recent announcement:
fans of Bones might want to sit down for this news: The show's new season is being held all the way until November 3.

It's not that Fox wouldn't like to have Bones on earlier. But with star Emily Deschanel (and her onscreen alter ego) pregnant, it wouldn't be surprising if producers wanted to give her as much time off as possible. What's more, the combination of the launch of The X Factor (it will air two-hour episodes on Thursdays early in its run) and the fact that Game 2 of the World Series will be a week earlier this year (on October 20) combined to make a November debut a more attractive option. (UPDATE: Bones creator Hart Hanson just told us he's "oddly -- and uncharacteristically --... OK with this push to airing in November. For one thing, the Fox honchos were good about explaining their programming logic so... I understand that it's not slapdash or ill-considered. But this year the late premiere works for us in that it will probably allow us to air the six episodes we are likely to be able to shoot before Emily has her baby. If we started earlier, we would not be able to supply enough episodes to get us to Christmas. My personal bias is to run as many episodes as possible in the same time slot in an unbroken string, which the late premier allows us to do." In other words, dear Bones fans, you can hold off on the hate e-mails to Fox.)

So what do you think about this, good idea or not? When is she due, anyway?

i found this on a website devoted to Emily:

Question: Any new scoops about the new season of Bones?
Ausiello: Yes, a have big scoop! The first episode is titled "The Memories in the Shallow Grave."

Question: Any scoop on Bones now that Booth and Bones are having a baby?
Ausiello: Remember that big scoop I promised you, like, five seconds ago? This is actually it: "The first episode will pick up with Brennan moving into the third trimester of her pregnancy" "” just as her portrayer, Emily Deschanel, will be come fall "” reveals exec producer Stephen Nathan. "Brennan is still the same strong character and shows no sign of slowing down. She attacks each case as she always has, although she must now deal with the realities of being pregnant." Meaning"¦? "Small spaces are a challenge"

I am soooo happy and excited that theyre having a baby. I really hope they pull it off. I'm ok with it starting late but Its gonna be a killer wait lol

Yes, and I just finished watching the first 5 seasons, so I'm ready! At least we can re-watch season 6 while we're waiting.

"Small spaces are a challenge." Bwa-ha-ha, I so relate!

You guys should defintely rewatch! Ive seen seasons 1-5 so many times. Im gonna rewatch Season 6.
I'm happy to wait, I gotta say I find it really frustrating when TV shows do two episodes, and then there's a two week break, and then they show three, and then there's a break and blah blah blah. I would definitely prefer them to smash out 22 weeks worth of episodes in a row then mess about with breaks and stuff. Maybe I should actually wait the entire of the season this time round and just download it all in one go and have a Bones marathon!

ITA. That is what I did with s6...waited until it was finished then went through all 22 episodes on my own time table.
I am really happy about Booth and Brennan having a child. I cant wait for Season 7! I wish it would start in September but I have had time to take it in and I got use to the idea of it starting in November.

I agree with everyone else. I really hope they pull this baby story line off well. Fingers crossed. Cant wait!

So is it just me who thinks Bones has become a bit soap opera-ish? I still like the show, but with the whole 'will they, won't they' thing over the past few years and now the whole baby drama...I just preferred the earlier seasons when there were interesting cases like Howard Epps and the Gravedigger. It seems to me the cases have gotten worse and worse as more and more focus has been put on BB's relationship. Personally, I loved their dynamic as just work partners. I do look forward to a little Booth or Brennan, though. I can imagine how awkward Brennan would be as a mum and Booth will be a great dad, helping Bones through it all and stuff.

Oh but Emily, drama is what keeps the ratings up! It's a sad fact, but a lot of today's TV is created in "what will get the highest ratings" not "what is good entertainment." Honestly, a large problem with that is the Neilsen ratings. If they updated the rating system to reflect today's TV viewing habits and therefore started to change the way networks think about what is good entertainment, TV would get so much better.

True, true.

What is the Nielsen ratings, anyway? I know nothing about how ratings in the US (or even here, for that matter) work. How can they actually know how many people are watching a certain show at a certain time. Are they psychic? 😀

Oh, and is/was anyone else completely devastated by Vincent's death? He was my favourite intern. 🙁 And I still miss Zack. 🙁

Yeah, when I watch reruns with Zack it makes me miss him more. I loved his dynamic with everyone.
Nielsen ratings are confusing as hell. Here's the wiki page. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_ratings"]Nielsen ratings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] And it's a really outdated and terrible way to rate. Especially with so many people watching online. I don't have a TV I can watch my shows on as they air so I watch everything online. If it counted towards the ratings, I'd suck it up and deal with the 15-30 second commercials and watch on hulu or the network's official site... but it doesn't. So I watch on a streaming site where the content is posted illegally (it's not illegal to watch a streaming show once it's been posted. It is illegal, however, to upload it to one of the sites) because there are no commercials and they post faster. It's really outdated and doesn't make much sense.

I mean American Idol has been the top rated show every year since it started... So that's why networks keep making reality competition shows. Because they're cheep to make and people seem to REALLY like them.

Also, it's only been like a few months since they counted DVR recordings from Nielsen family houses. Also, these people are aware they're a Nielsen family and can skew the results to what they want.

I could go on, but I think the criticism section of that wiki page does a decent job of giving an overview of what I hate about the Nielsen system.

It does seem that some shows do this but hey it doesn't always pay off look at Hellcats. I stopped watching that pretty early on. I found some shows that don't do this and boy was it refreshing. Ratings are the most irritating things about TV. Some shows on networks get less than new shows yet they stay on. Happened with Life Unexpected.

Overall I am happy about this because now I can do a huge bones re-watch since I missed a bit. I am happy about BB as well because for a second i thought they would never get together and if the show went off the air and they hadn't I would be ticked.

All I know is I hope the story line is done well and not over-dramatic. Bones with a baby is hilarious enough.

Hey just wondering if anybody has read Kathy Reich's Temperance Brennan novels? I'm on the 2nd one now. I really like them, although there are some big differences of course between the novels & the show, and even between Brennan's character in the novels & the show. But same attention to detail with regards to the crimes & the bodies etc.
