Happy Bonfire Night to all our UK members celebrating tonight. I hope your bonfire parties all go well.

For those of you who aren't going to see any this year, here are some virtual fireworks...just click in the black box and watch 'em go 🙂

Fireworks

Personally, I'm turning into a grumpy old sod, as the area around Pointy Towers sounds like a war zone and has done for the last couple of weeks. I feel sorry for people who have pets at this time of year. I think it's time that fireworks were restricted to large public displays only...*lights blue touchpaper and retires*

I absolutely agree.

To buy anywhere near enough fireworks for a GOOD display you need to be earning the GDP of a Minor Principality.

Large Public displays, done effectively, are a great way to get communities together, have a really good night with the family, cut down on garden fires and single fireworks and help with CO2 cutting targets(if you ban fireworks sales in high street shops and make ALL public displays free and safe).

I love Bonfire night, but there really is little point to having your own display because regular joes just don't have enough access to the funds to do anything better than a few rockets, some sparklers and maybe a catherine wheel.

Besides a display you can have a fair too and eat Toffee Apples and drink cider and have general merriment.

Oi, shoosh you two. we're having our own out the back in about an hour. Looking forward to it 😀

How dare you wicked - don't shoosh me!!!

LOL

You would rather stand in your backyard adding to the global death through warming suffocating the world, scare the pets of your neighbours with the loud bangs and 'let off' a few bright coloured fireworks...you're evil

Wicked
I never said I wasnt :p
We have fireworks....still in their box though, and doubtful they will be used tonight either, it's been raining on and off, and after having 2 parties last week the last thing I feel like doing is standing outside freezing my butt off watching fireworks 'lol'

Might save 'em for New Year - we actually get more go off on New Years Eve than on Bonfire night anyway.

I wish there was a large public fireworks display near us to go to, but when there's 7 of you, it usually costs way too much plus as we have to rely on public transport it just makes things even more awkward 'lol'

I went to the local firework display held by Aberdeen council. I'd like to know how much money they spent on that... it was the worst ever. I love fireworks but if they're gonna spend lots of money on them they might as well arrange them better. I could have done it better myself...

Well... I probably would have kept most of the money and bought some sparklers for a couple of lucky members of the crowd... hee hee
