Thanky very much Mr Pointy 😛

Yep, last year I had a bad teacher. Like I asked her what meant "peachy with side of keen" (from btvs S7 epi 1 lol) & she couldn't answer me, lol

This year, I got 3 english prof (grammar, literature & journalism), for 7 hours a week & it's mostly interesting. The bad part, we are too many & we can't talk a lot.
Next year I'll major in english & I'll have 10 hours !!! yay !!!

nerd4hire : i donno for others but we can learn lots of slang online as well, he hehe 😉
If there are any expressions you guys don't get please feel free to post about them and I'll do my best to explain them. I can't promise that I'll be able to do any US or Aussie ones full justice but perhaps some of the other Anglophones might help there...

You guys are awesome. I've been taking spanish for three years, and cant even like communicate with it.
A question for the French people: I'm going to France this summer, would I be okay there only knowing English, or should I start pulling out the French books?

I'm from Michigan and some times Californian English seems like my second language.

I also some times watdh my Buffy DVDs in French because i know the dialog so well that most of it i can translate in my head. Xanders French voice is funny/weird.

I'm up for that! With all the ESL (english as a second language) folks here, we may need to explain some of the more obscure slang/cultural references! I could give a several page treatise on the correct usage of the expression "eh" in Canadian English....or not, unless you really need that much sleep...eh?

well english is my firs language but I cant speak it if my life depended on it lol...some of you that live out of the US talk better then me.
But NE ways

Ive seen Btvs/Angel in Taiwan and Hong Kong and there subtitled but i would laugh soooooooooooooooo hard if they ever dubed it. Imagine Spike talking in Chinese lmao... it wouldnt b as bad in Mandarin but extra funny in Cantonese chinese omg Im thinking about it an laughing to no end.....
but in Taiwan everything is subtitled cuz there are so many diferent dielects in China/Taiwan that the only way they can realy comunicate is by the writing which is the same. (but that sux cuz I cant read in chinese.....but I can speak Mandarin and Cantonese)

I feel so stupid saying this, but I didn't realize so many people here were from so many different places. For some reason, the biggest shocks for me were Magui and ana8...I just thought they were from the US. It's cool that this site has such a diverse population.

I have always wondered that as well... about people from other countries and cultures communicating in English so well on the boards.

I only speak English and bad English, so I've got no problem.

Applause to those of you who do not speak English as a native language and communicate with us though!
