Books You Wish Had Never Been Made Into Movies

Little Women. I always wind up disappointed when watching any of its movies. They just don’t pick the right actors for the job. Actors should look like the characters in the book. And most of the best stuff are changed or cut off.

The Devil Wears Prada. I couldn’t complete it. So many things were changed, names were changed, storylines altered. The book is so much better.

But...but...Stanley Tucci!!!!
I want them to do movies of my favourite books. That I have no problem with. I often have a problem with how they make the movie. But no matter what, if you love a book, a movie based on it will never be as good.

Yeah, I'm dancing in anticipation of the "John Carter Of Mars" movie coming out next year, but I know that it'll never live up to Burroughs' original version. Just look what they've done with Tarzan,
I'm going with Flowers in the Attic.

I don't know how the hell anyone pitched that book to a movie producer. "So, uh, yeah, it's about an abusive family, and the only relationship in the book is incestuous and a kid rapes his own sister and there's a scene where said rapist slices his own wrists so he can feed his blood to a couple of starving five-year-old kids...it'd make a great teen horror flick!"

The Handmaid's Tale - it's a good thing everyone forgot about that movie.

Also, if we can include comics, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That movie was a train wreck and it literally couldn't have deviated any further from its source material.

Yep yep. I have no idea why they decided to make it into a movie in the first place.

My perhaps favorite book ever is "The picture of Dorian Gray"... I was sooo excited when I saw it was being made into a movie! And with Ben Barnes no less! Awesomeness all around!

So me and my best friend (who also looves the book) were horribly disappointed at it's straight-to-dvd release and rented it immediately. Prepared to enjoy.

That was easily my biggest ever movie disappointment. It was grossly ill-made and bizarrely interpreted and ruined not only the book for me (temporarily, I have not read it in about a year and a half now to make sure the movie is far out of association reach before I read it again) and I cannot even stand to see Ben Barnes in anything else.

So yes, "The picture of Dorian Gray" in my opinion should never have been made into a movie (and if you look at the extras even the actors are squirming, clearly embarrassed by their involvement in the mess)

The Time Traveller's Wife. Really hated the film, the book is so complex and the film was a bit boring, to be honest.

Oh GOD! Yes! This. They left the entire heart of the book out of the film!
The Other Boleyn Girl comes to mind first. I loved the book & the movie was barely recognizable as the same story.

I'm nervous for the 'The Perks Of Being a Wallflower' film because I loved the book so much. I'm looking foward to seeing Logan Lerman and Emma Watson but...Emma Watson as Sam seems a little...off

That Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie they made. I used to love those books, but I couldn't watch that movie. The trailers were so bad, and my sister said it was awful.

And X-Men Origins: Wolverine should never have been made. They ruined Deadpool, my favourite character ever.

I can understand the changes they made in Percy Jackson but...I do agree.
If I say Harry Potter, Lindsey will hunt me down and kill me, won't he?

*Shrugs shoulders* I could take him. 😛

So yeah, Harry Potter. Whilst I'm tempted to say the Hogwarts set is worth it alone, I don't think it is.

I think filming them was fine, but they should have gotten better writers.
