Two former Whedonverse leading men, each with his own new (well, newer than "Angel" or "Firefly") series. David Boreanaz on "Bones," and Fillion on "Castle." Which is your favorite?

Personally, I prefer "Castle," because the interaction between Castle and Beckett is just, for me at least, more fun to watch. I enjoy "Bones," but I'm not really a regular watcher. I haven't missed an episode of "Castle" since its premiere.

Bones is a great series for character growth. Castle on the other hand is some great writing. It's a good show that makes you watch the fine details to figure out the bad guy/girl.
Comedy wise Castle hands down. Action Bones.
Either way I like both shows and if I don't watch I definitely record.

Haven't had the chance to watch Castle, but I plan to catch up very soon. Nathan Fillion is one of my favorite Whedon alumni. I do really like Bones, and I'm caught up on all but the last season. It can get hokey at times, but Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz work really well off of each other. By the fourth season, though, I thought they'd stretched the "Will they/won't they" question on a little too far.

Both shows seem to have the same type relationship between the two main characters, which is interesting. When I first heard of Castle, my first thought was, "Hm, sounds like Bones."

I haven't watched many episodes of "Castle" (hopefully I can get caught up before the new season comes on) but I do tend to like it better than "Bones". I don't care much for Emily Deschanel and even though I love David Boreanaz, I like Nathan Fillion in his new role a little better. 🙂

I like them both. But I think I prefer Bones slightly.
Their cases is usually quite interesting and often a bit different. Castle feels more ordinary somehow.

/SK

I enjoy both shows a lot. At the moment I prefer Bones but it's not by much. Maybe it's because I've had time to get more invested in Bones instead of Castle. Took time for Beckett to become a character I cared about even if I like her now, and it hasn't been airing nearly as long.

I vote for "Castle" - it is an engaging show with great acting (except for his daughter; i'm not a fan of her or her character) and really well written stories. Plus, Beckett and Castle have great chemistry that is cool and understated. I'm not a fan of Bones - the leads have no chemistry and their relationahip comes off as forced to me. Angel and the dirt scientist guy is much more interesting. And horribly written! The times I've watched Bones and they've pulled the solution magically out of nowhere!! That is the main reason I stopped watching.

To be honest, I only watch Bones now because i've watched it from the start. This season was just so awful that I doubt I will be back.

I had problems at the start and had to learn to view the Bones books and show as two individual entities.

Bones for me, has just got boring over the seasons, there is no spark and I don't really feel any connection between the characters other than Hodgins and Angela.

Castle has a little bit of everything but more importantly a charasmatic male lead.

I prefer Nathan Fillion as an actor but I just can't find Castle interesting. I watched seven episodes of season 1, and I planned on watching the rest but there's other stuff I'd rather watch right now.

Bones has too many good characters, and is a whole lot funnier. I'm only half way through season 2 of Bones though.

Oh just wait lol
I perfer Castle and will watch it if I can, whereas Bones I'll watch if there's nothing better on

I've got to go with Bones. I've been watching the show since the start, and even before I discovered Buffy. When I saw Angel on Buffy for the first time, I literally screamed "ITS BOOTH!!" haha. Castle is quirky and funny and I do love me some Nathan, but I've got more of an attatchment to the Bones characters and story. I'll watch Castle if its on TV, but I watch Bones every week with my friends and own a couple seasons. If I compare David and Nathan to eachother, both have acting skills that are top-notch but Nathan wins because he is just hilarious.

I've gotta go with Bones, Honestly i've tried to watch Castle and for some reason i've never made it through a whole episode I dont know if its just lack of interest or what. However i've watched Bones since the beginning and its one show that no matter how much Jonathan screams to watch spongebob I just can't turn it off. To be honest though I think it has more to do with my David Boreanaz Obsession then the actual show lol.

I agree with everything you've said. I too watched Bones before discovering Buffy, and I love it! I just wish they hadn't gotten rid of Zach.
