"It would have to be a theatrical release," he sniffs. "I'm not into the movie-of-the-week [idea]. It needs to be a bigger challenge." To that end, the actor recently shot the title role in the big-screen comedy "Mr. Fix-It." "It has a very '80s romantic theme to it," says Boreanaz. "I'm going to be dancing, singing... DB singing in public? Maybe he was just pretending to be bad on Angel...

As far as movies go, Joss didn't seem to be planning for the big screen, so there could be a problem. What do you guys think?
 
I think if a theatrical conclusion to Angel might be the best way to go...like a post-apocalyptic resolution to the series...that'd be coo 😀
 
yeah that would be the best way for the Angel movie. I think that with a big buget as they can get, Angel could be amazing.
 
The only problem with that is on order to do it wel they'd need a budget bigger than any studio will vbe willing to offer.
 
What I wish and what I think will happen are very different things. I wish for a theatrical ending to Angel, also having the Buffy cast in it. What I think will happen is nothing, at least for a couple of years. There are far too many rumors and too little facts. I won't be holding my breath.

I thought that about firefly, but it's being made into a movie. It's rather amazing what you can do film-wise with a little money, and good acting, directing, and writing. Angel was being done for $2 million per episode. Serenity's budget is estimated at $40 million dollars. And that's for a show that made it half-way through it's first season before being cancelled. A Buffy/Angel movie would garner at least that much, but likely more based on the fact that they were popular shows with a large, and dedicated fan base.

I imagine that Universal has several motives for making serenity. Mostly I'm sure it's to do the movie, but I would also assume that at least part of it is to get in bed with a writer/director that they expect to be huge.

I think it will happen some day, but not at least for a couple years. We'll see what Joss can do cinematically with the Buffy/Angel tv-movies that I have no doubt in my mind will happen.
 
I hate to be a downer about this but the clock is ticking on this one. Unless you are willing to cast a new actor in the role, the fact that a human actor will age as the vampire wouldn't becomes a problem if you wait too long to make a movie. DB is already pretty far removed from the way he looked when he first arrived on the set of Buffy. What do you suppose another 5 years would do. That is the reason that JM said he would be happy to reprise the role of Spike but only if it happened failrly soon because he understands that an ageless vampire can be played by an human who must age for only a short period of time.

I agree. DB pretty much looks nothing like he did from the first season of buffy. Some of it, you can say that he was skin and bones then, and has bulked up, but pretty much he's just gotten older and more matured. However, I do think that they could make a movie anywhere up to maybe 4 or 5 years down the line, and still get away with it.

I agree. Well, maybe not that far...maybe 3 or 4...wait...thats really not a difference..lol. Anyway, they could probably still get away with that.
 
I would ABSOLUTELY love to see a Buffy/Angel threatrical movie done, but I HIGHLY doubt that's going to happen. Look at what happened to Roswell. Fans are still trying to get a theatrical movie made. I was even a part of the campaign, but eventually I just gave up because it didn't seem like it was ever going to happen. I don't know, maybe a miracle will take place and it'll prove me wrong. But until then, I wouldn't exactly hold my breathe.

And as for television movies, if David or Sarah aren't going to star in them, then I don't see much point in watching any of the movies. I'm sorry but Buffy and Angel wouldn't be, well Buffy and Angel without David and Sarah. That's my opinion and I am sticking to it. Sorry.​

Roswell wasn't very successful Buffy, and Angel are. And Buffy/Angel have one major thing going for them. Joss. Look at what happened to firefly. They got cancelled, he got pissed off, and shopped the firefly movie idea around till he had a buyer. Firefly was a really hard sell. I mean, c'mon...not successful in the ratings department cancelled halfway through the first season. Buffy isn't as hard a sell.

I think that if Joss wants to do it, it'll get done. Sarah says that it would have to be the right script. If Joss is writing it...it's a no-brainer....it's gonna be great. David Boreanaz in every interview I have seen has said that he is only interested in playing Angel on the big screen now. James...c'mon...he's the Shatner of the Buffyverse. He's gonna be flogging that horse for the rest of his life. Not to say I blame him. Maybe it's just that he realizes how rare it is to find a character as deep, and well-written as Spike is.

I guess the major question now is, does Joss want to do a Buffy film. That, I'm not sure about. I would wait and see what happens with Serenity. It's a hard thing to make a film. There's less freedom, more pressure, and a lot more work. The rewards are much greater, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he gets soured by the whole film-making experience. Let's look at two of his other films that he wrote. The first Buffy...well...we all know how pissed off he got working on that movie. Oh, and Alien Resurection. At one point he went into the bathroom, and started punching a bathroom stall. Any time you start working with test audiences, and screenings, and studio execs trying to put in their two cents, it all leads to badness.

I think that if Joss gets plenty of freedom with serenity, and he actually wants to continue the buffyverse in film, it'll happen. He is probably the most persistent guy in hollywood.

I would have to disagree with you on that. I was a webmistress of a very successful Roswell site, and even though the show only lasted for three seasons, doesn't mean that for a short time it wasn't a success. There were and are still a HUGE Roswell fan base. But I guess we all have our own opinions on that. But yes, even though Buffy/Angel was more successful, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a hit at the box office. I know personally, if David or Sarah isn't in the television movies or in the "movies" at all, (if there will ever be any movies that is), I know personally, I won't be one of the viewers. But hopefully I'll be proved wrong.​
 
About the roswell thing, I meant that it wasn't a success strictly in terms of commercial, and rating success. Buffy merchandising is huge. Books, T-Shirts, DVD Sales, and other related merchandising is huge. People pay upwards of hundreds of dollars for Buffy items, and hold Buffy conventions. I know Roswell has a lot of those things...but they ain't selling. Roswell was a great show, no denying that. But just cause it was a great show doesn't mean that it is a commercial success. Just look at Undergrads. I would have to rank that show as being my third favourite all-time show, but only one season, then cancelled. Angel was the second highest rated show on the WB when it was cancelled. Not to mention that it was the only show they had that saw a growth in ratings in their final year. With the release of the Buffy, and Angel DVDs(and the enormous success that they have been). I think the interest is there, and will remain to be there for several years to come. Look what happened to Star Trek. It took awhile, but it was nothing more than a cult show back in it's day, and only survived for 3 seasons. Support for the show grew, and syndication meant that people were still interested in that show, and now it is one of the largest(and crappiest)IP franchises in history. Let's just hope that things with Buffy don't turn out the way that they did for star trek....5 series, and 10 movies(more than half of them utter trash). Although DS9 was amazing.
 
Roswell should have been made into a movie, But Jason Behr is doing The Grudge with Sarah Michele Gellar, So it's not to hard seeing him becoming at least a B-list star within the next year or two.

As for DB, I agree if he reprises the role of Angel, he should do it quick.
As far as age goes, maybe his ageing can be explained by him turning human in season one of Angel, thus setting his Vampire ageing process out of whack. I mean, no one would even really catch on untill he REALLY started to show his age.
 
It would be in their best interest to decide on the movies as soon as possible. But even if they choose to wait a few yrs and the characters have aged it would be easy to explain why, with all the hell dimensions hanging around and portals that could be opened who would be the wiser. Just a suggestion.
