This is crazy, theres a guy on Ebay thats selling his life, apparently this was brought on by his wife leaving him, he's selling you his entire life, house, car, motorbike, hobbies, job and friends!

And the price for a new life, over 1 million Australian Dollars - Isn't that crazy?

A man who is auctioning his life over the internet has been celebrating as bidders fought over who would take his job, home and friends, as he seeks to start over again.

The British immigrant to Australia, who said the trigger for his bold offer was the break-up with his wife, had hoped he would attract a bid of over €300,000.

Shortly after the seven-day auction began today, a bid of over €183,000 for 44-year-old Ian Usher's Perth-based lifestyle was listed on the internet auction site eBay. By late afternoon, some 40 bids had been made with the highest offer at some €400,000

'I brought out the champagne at three o'clock when it passed the $400,000 mark (€244,000),' Mr Usher said

'It's unbelievable that it's going up like this so early in the auction.'

Mr Usher has promised to introduce the winning bidder to his friends and hand over his €250,000 house and his hobbies. The winner will also secure Mr Usher's job as a rug store assistant for two weeks initially, but this could be extended depending on the store owner's agreement.

That's...that's....I don't think I have a word in my head that describes what that is. Unbelievable is one that does come top mind though. I read the article and the listing all agape.

He's clearly a very clever guy though- not only is he getting all this money, but the written media have already picked up on it; it won't be long before the televised media do also....

Quite a stunning, well stunt, though.

Me,I think the word is lame.

People go through bust-ups all the time. Usually,they don't do the internet equivalent of a garage sale.
 
I just checked the site and it's over 2million already! This is insane! Personally, I wouldn't want some strangers life, I prefer my own.

So what's he going to do when he sells all his stuff and has the money? Just buy new gear?
I was trying to figure out where about in Perth his house is, but I've never heard of Wellard. Must be quite far out of the city centre. Perth is horrible at the moment anyway, one big construction site.
Interesting idea though, would be good if you had built up to having all your possessions and then sold them for a decent amount of money.

Hmm, I´m pretty sure I´ve heard of the same thing a couple of years ago. Or am I dreamimg again?

The whole "get a new start in life" thing isn´t that bad actually. But is surely is a huge step and not for everyone. But if it´s entirely based on the break up, it feels a bit rushed. Partially I don´t have a problem with. But the best of luck to him!
 
I duno if it is the same guy or someone else but I heard about a similar thing a few months ago, also from Perth. Maybe its because everything is so crazy expensive at the moment lol or maybe it is just the water here....

Hmm, I don't know whether he's actually done it with the intention of getting media attention or whether he just genuinly wants to get rid of his possesions and start over. Either way it's quite a smart idea as he's going to make a fortune from ebay, and then from whatever comes next...interviews etc... I wish him the best of luck.
 
I actually noticed that Wellard is on the new train line, it is miles away! I think it's clever that he's sold the idea of Perth rather than the idea of possessions. I think it's interesting that even his friends and boss have agreed to the idea. If one of my mates was selling me off on ebay I'd be pretty scared!
 
Well he has said that he isn't selling his friends, but is willing to introduce them to the winner of the auction. I was quite surprised that his boss was willing to hire a random person but heh they must be a good boss lol.
 
I think that I heard about it too.
I don't think that I would ever do something like that even if my life really sucked.
This guy must be REALLY desperate or just looking for fame.
 
I mentioned this to my husband and he was all, "If I was the guy's boss, I'd say, 'Um . . . no!'" Unless, of course, the guy who wins the bid is qualified for the job. Of course, he's an HR professional, so he thinks like that.

It's the same guy, he set up his site in March to get everything ready for the auction.

I just spent over an hour on his site. It's actually quite moving and inspiring, I am so seriously tempted to make a bid. LOL If I had seen this earlier I may have checked into the work visas and immigration and such...just out of curiosity.. 😀
 
I just saw on one of the current affairs programs that the majority of the bids were fake!
The current 'real' bid is around $300 000 Aussie dollars. I'd be spewing as his house would be worth more than that let alone the rest of his life. Does he have to accept the bid if it is much lower than expected? Does it have a reserve price or anything?
 
It does say somewhere on the page that there is a reserve price to make sure everything goes for a reasonable amount. Can you imagine if there wasn't, and he'd have to sell everything for something stupid like $1!
 
I actually read about this a few days ago in the paper.
This man is an absolute tosser. Or, or, whoever gives him money is a friggin' tosser and he's actually smart, gettin free money and all.
 
My husband wanted to BID ON THAT! I wanted to slap him!
I TOLD him Australia's trying to kill people with all those snakes, crocs, sharks, and jellyfish....he said I was nuts.

I told him to go ahead without me. I guess he didn't win.
