A young Tory has been jailed for six months after he admitted downloading sickening child porn.

Alister Cooling, 27, who writes for the Conservative Home website and campaigned for London Mayor Boris Johnson, owned films featuring girls as young as five being abused.

The pervert, who hoped to be an MP and featured on the BBC reality TV show Castaway, also downloaded a bestiality film.

Some of the films hit the highest level of the abuse scale used by police to grade child porn.

Sentencing Cooling at Croydon crown court last Friday, Judge Stephen Waller said: "The contents of these images are horrifying. Any right thinking person could not but be repulsed. By downloading this material you give encouragement to people who are filming the abuse and suffering of children."

Cooling at first told police he downloaded the films by accident - but eventually broke down and admitted he was "obsessed". The charges against him included making indecent images and possession of extreme porn. He will serve half his sentence in jail then be freed on licence.

On Castaway two years ago, Cooling, of Croydon, South London, was described as the "ultimate coach potato" and said he would miss his computer most while on the island.

A website Cooling used to bid for acting roles lists his friends as his "TV, computer and hi-fi" and gives his influences as television shows Buffy and Angel.

This article was posted upon Facebook and I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me when I say that you guys needed to hear this. Al was friends with a lot of us on Facebook, and many of us had pictures of children in our families. It's sickening.
I don't mean to sound offensive...but England is wack. Six months? He seriously needs to be in there for life. This is very sickening. Al was a little creepy, so I'm not gonna say I'm totally shocked. This guy who worked with me got arrested for posession of child pornography, and sentenced 18 months of prison and then 18 of house arrest. These are the kind of people to whom the government should show no mercy. For God's sake, this is poor innocent children. My dad said child porn people and rapists are the ones who get killed in prison, because those who kill them are in there for life anyway. After hearing this, I can't say I don't wish this upon either of them. Makes me sick.

I've talked with a lot of members in other places about this so I won't go through it all again. At least not now. But of course it's disgusting. Reading some of his past posts you get a bunch of questions and some of the things he said is totally the opposite of what he's done. Well duh! Liar.

Wow I am shocked but after seeing a few peoples posts over the last few days I couldn't help but guess who it might have been that had done such a shocking thing. All I can is this is a big reality check for a lot of us to remember that this can happen to anyone in the world. I just hope he has learned his lesson hard and won't ever do this sort of thing again when he does his time in prison.

I am thoroughly repulsed. Al was on my friends list on Facebook, with access to pictures of my kids. When I read that article my blood ran cold. Al once told me my oldest daughter was "gorgeous" and now I have these fears that he was "obsessed" with her as he was with child porn. *shudder* I'm hoping he'll get the shit beat out if him in prison and learn his lesson. However the sad fact is that many like him never do. But at least those of us who were friends with him now hve learned a lesson that you really should be careful about who we trust and let into our lives.

I never liked him. Something just told me he was a jerk and creep. So strangely enough I wasn't surprised at all.
But I was mad and confused. I was thinking of those who were his friend, those with kids and without.
I don't buy his excuse for doing it, he never seemed to have "pity me" excuses, so why would he know?
It's hard to see the friends I have who were friends with him being so upset, because they are in every right to be.

We met on here, when I went by the name Atticus. We talked very often on facebook, I considered him a friend, and I can't help but remember the thread he created on vigilance. Where he spoke of the discovery of finding his flat mate possibly abusing a young girl, and he reported the abuse to the police.

This is what I wrote then:

"Well done to you, I have nothing but respect for you, you did a great thing. I know there are many people in this world that are considered bad. But a young child is probably the closest example of purity and innocence you can witness. It makes me sick to my stomach, that they can be hurt and violated in this way. I truly believe you saved her life, and have hopefully stopped it soon enough, so that she can begin to have some of her childhood back, i truly hope so. You stopped an evil man, and helped a young child, there are not enough compliments for you. Well done. "

Nice story. and nicely played - congratulations on having me compliment a man who was getting off to pictures of girls the same age as my niece.

What you have done is wrong on every level. That's all I will say on this matter.

One thing I've been thinking of since this came up is myself. Al showed (being real or pretend) some good sides when he wanted to and to who he wanted to. So there's no surprise he had friends. But he's been talking to our younger members or started talking to some of them years back when they were younger. The same could at least be said about me. I like to be there for people, help in any way. Be it listening, offering advice or just some small talk. Since I work(ed) with kids it never really felt wrong since I've done it for so long even in real life. And some of the younger members have been sharing some sensetive things. Since I know myself I've been glad thay they trust someone enough to share it with since it's not good to hold things inside. But since I'm older than Al I can also see the creepy factor of it. Especially since I'm a guy. It just makes things worse in the eyes of others. We as a gender have a bad reputation. And I'm not saying it's wrong. But I'm struggling with the urge to help and the creepyness factor and I really don't know how I'll react next time I get in a situation like that. Because lets face it. None of you can be sure the person you think I am is the real me.

I don't know if I ever expected to post on BB again but I know I never expected to post on a matter as grave and disturbing as this.

I am ashamed to say that I called Al a friend. I asure you that is no longer the case.

As TK has said, I have spoken to alot of BBer's this week about this matter and honestly I'm exhausted from the whole thing but I felt like I had to make my stance clear here, incase anyone thought we were still friends.

When I recieved the email about this I don't think I can explain how shocked I was, how betrayed I felt and how disgusted it made me.

When I first jioned BB I didn't like Al, in fact at times I hated him. I really wish sense had prevailed and I held on to that emotion towards him. It didn't though, and over time I became friends with Al. We spoke regularly here and then when I left BB we chatted daily on FB. I thankfully did not have any pictures of my neice online, but I let him into my world and I am incredibly angry at my myself for being so naive and careless. My skin crawls everytime I think of how I stuck up for him. People told me several times that he was no good, I should have heeded those warnings about him. I knew he could be harsh, but I never thought he could be depraved.

He lied to us, all of us. I can hardly count the number of self-righteous posts he made, both here and on FB, highlighting the need for vigilance, for caution. He betrayed us and our friendship. Conversations we had both privately and publically seem to me now just cover for his true self. He portrayed himself as a victim, as an activist and a figure of truth. His is none of these things.

He is a fraud. He is a pervert.

I knew Al two years and never for a second suspected anything like this so I know how hard it is to truly judge those you meet online. I beg of you though to exercise more caution, don't be so willing to share your life with people you don't know, limit how much of yourself you give over to the net.

If you do feel umcomfortable or feel someone is acting inappropriately towards you; please tell someone. Anyone. A friend or family member, your mods here at BB. Don't ignore it.

I hope to God we never face a situation like this again.

I'm just mad at myself for becoming kind of friends with him. I never liked him on BB but when he left and added me on FB we got speaking and at first i just replied to be polite, but we spoke often after that. Stupiddd, should have trusted my gut instinct, but shows how you can just shrug it off and put it down to someone being a bit weird and I thought lonely.

I mean some of us are still kids, and some here have their own kids, some have younger siblings, and I think it would be more then awful if some of our beloved children were abused like that. I don't see how someone can like that. How someone can be so cruel to watch something like that.. and enjoy. To watch girls who are 5 years old getting abused. Just watch. Here we are, loving our show that is full of fictional characters like vampires, who have no soul. Who would guess vampires really do exist. And they walk with us in the light, living the same way as us, but in the night they do this awful things. Sometimes just looking and doing nothing is a crime. And 6 months is way to little. That guy needs help, because something like that is not going to disapear. I was reading about people who liked this things, but they were so disgusted with themselves so they decided to find some help. And now they are letting him go, to walk again free. I thought it'd be a long, long time before I found myself in the right head space to post here again, but recent events have made me feel as though I SHOULD be here, however, I wish those events hadn't been quite so disturbing.

There isn't a person on this site who knew me who didn't know how I felt about Al. He was the first person I 'met' online, the first person online I considered a friend. I've known him for seven years, he knows all my secrets, he was one of only two people I felt that I could confide in about anything.

When I got the link to the article about him this past Wednesday, I was physically sick. I felt hurt, betrayed, disgusted that I was fooled by his lies. I had to go through the sickening task of asking my sister, who would have been 8 years old when me met, if she ever spoke to him alone. It was the most horrifying thing I have ever done.

I stood up for Al in every single thing he did on this site. I was on his side, no matter what he did, and today, I feel ashamed about that. I had an argument with a former moderator about Al, which got quite heated and I said, and thought, some horrible things about this person, because they hated my friend, and I refused to see what they were trying to tell me about him. Today, I would like to apologize to this person, even if it is a little late. I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you.

I'm disgusted with myself for how much this man has deceived me, how many times he has pulled the wool over my eyes. So many people tried to tell he was a waste of space, and I wish to God I'd listened. Six months is NOT NEARLY long enough for a monster like this.

I wish with everything in my heart that I could go back to that other website and click the delete button before I opened that PM.

I have had many conversations over the past few days with both current and past BB members, and it is with the help of two of these people in particular that I've been able to get through this nightmare. You ladies know who you are, and I will be forever grateful to you both.

Please, God, let this be a lesson to all of us. PLEASE be careful about who you speak to online, about what you tell people. If you think there is something not right about someone, please mention it to someone you trust. Another member, one of the Mods. Hell, you can even tell me, just please do not live with it if it is making you uncomfortable.

This has been one of the most horrifying experiences of my life, and I hope to hell that I never have to go through it again.
