Brain training apps

For most of them after a while I get a paywall. The last one I had only let me play a few free games. It's annoying.

Yeah Im finding the same thing
I too have Kawashima braintraining (On DS). But being as the internet is teeming with endless brain-training sites, I'm usually using those. I bet novel writing is good for the brain, too. 🙂

Flash fiction is easier than novels, if you;re starting out.
I have tried elevate and neuronation today which are simple and fun, but I cant look at a moving screen for too long. So I really enjoyed some of the free inductive reasoning and maths types on browser sites. Its just that they only offer one or two tests before a paywall. I dont want any more word games, they are boring, but I could really work on worded maths puzzles.

I have googled kawashima but only got book sales, no apps or online games. Any links to share?

I love sudoku and I already have that on app, but its not as challenging as some I used to do in the paper so I get bored of it quick until I figure out how to access harder puzzles free!

I have Kawashima's brain training on Nintendo DS.
If it's not a paywall its lots of ads.

I might have to get DS ones.

You could just google puzzles and maths games.

Puzzle magazines! They're like apps, only physical and made of paper.
They cost money! But I have been doing some old magazines I have leftover from hospital days. I am sick of word games, I always get 100% which is ridiculous because words are the one thing that gets me in the most trouble on the internet!

@TamsinValencia I've done as many free browser puzzles as I can find! Got any links for me? 😉 I love the games with shapes, they are so fun! Remind me of primary school, they used to take us out for a day every term to do all those sorts of puzzles and get weighed and measured at the uni. I remember we had to stand extremely still on a cold metal plate in our bathers while they fluffed around. I have no idea what they were studying us for, but at the time it was so fun to be out of school!

I downloaded some maths apps because Im pretty crap at maths so at least its something challenging. Im surprised at how quick I am improving but I had a LOT of room to improve 😅

Last time my nephew was here, I was sat doing the puzzle where you made words out of random letters. My mum and I were coming up with four-letter words maximum, and my nephew (who's eight) pointed out a six-letter word! I can't remember what that word was now, but it was a rare enough word. Wow.

I used to love logic and maths puzzles but haven't done them in a while. This has reminded me to start again

But if you are doing it to keep your brain active it is hard to beat chess. Apparently chess uses every area of the brain and it is easy to gauge progress when you are playing opponents

Sporcle has a lot of simple stuff but some of the time based quizzes are good

Learn a language (or at least the basics)! I believe there's also a paid version, to get more out of it but the free is just fine.
