Has anyone seen this film?
If you have can you tell me if this film follow the real book accurately or if this film has been diluted.
Also is this film a really good film ar a bad film?
I am really quite curious and anyway what happens in the real book anyway?
Does anyone know?
 
Awesome movie...hmm...I want to see it again...thanks! I was wondering what I would rent tonight...
 
I think it's okay, one for the Tv, not to pay to watch if you know what i mean! Yes, the film follows the general format of Bram Stokers novel but as always in movieland, they add their own bits in as well.
 
As Carlyh said, it's an OK film but not brilliant. It's ruined for me by Keanu Reeves, as I've said in other threads. It could've been brilliant if they'd cast someone else...
 
yeah although i'm a fan of Keanu, he did not do himself justice in this film, i think period genres of films are a bit beyond his acting capability (not that i dont like him i do he's awesome in the matrix).
 
its alright nothing speacial.

the opening battle feels very retro now we have things like LOTR.

its worth a watch just not worth money 😉

Really have they added bits to it. I am only half way through the book you see.
Coz I remember one person reviewing the book said that it accurately followed the book Is this true?
And was it a hit in hollywood, I mean i know it came out 11 years but do you any of you guys know anything about it.
 
Gary Oldman was a kickass Count Dracula, but as Mr. Pointy says Keanu was der ubersuck. Although (believe it or not) my biggest problem was Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing - did not like his performance at all.

It all works out though. My hero Tom Waits (that dude is SO freakin' cool) plays Renfeild, which is probably one of the most inspired bits of casting in film history!

What I don't understand is why this particualr version got to be "Bram Stoker's Dracula" when the movies were all Bram Stoker's Dracula. This wasn't exactly a line-for-line adaptation of the text that deserved extra-close association with the source material. "Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula" would've been a more appropriate title, if you ask me. Which nobody did.
 
Movie was OK, but I still haven't read the book till end.For some reason I got stuck on page 128...

In total agreement with LD about messrs Oldman and Waits. I thought Anthony Hopkins was OK but not his best performance. Yea, Coppola's Dracula was what it shoulda been called.
I believe it follows the book more closely than some other adaptations - at least that's what Mrs Pointy tells me - haven't read it myself. She tends to read the older classics - I go for more modern classics.
 
i've actually never seen the movie, but i've read the book so i can answer any questions you have...if i remember what happened...
 
I just love Gary Oldman...very interesting role to see him in and definately amongst my favs...Immortal Beloved being another topper...which I know another lovely girl here would agree with me on. 😉 Hi Chas! 😛
 
The movie was good, anything with either Hopkins or Oldman in it is always worth a watch. However, I rather preferred the "Dracula" movie which starred Frank Langella in the title role. Amazing performance there.

Wow you've read the whole book, it must have took you a long time though.
Could you tell me like in a summary of what actually happens in the book, so I can see how different it is from the book.

Plus I know this is going to sound really weird guys but I heard that there are two versions of the book Dracula.
Is this true do you know if it is

Okay so guys I did see the film but one thing like really puzzled me is that,why did Keanu Reeves end up looking old with grey hair?
Please can someone explain this to me as I really do not understand, or is it to with Draclua taking his youth or something
