Breaking the fourth wall?

So I'm a long time Buffy fan who has only just started watching Angel. (I know, what took me so long?"

Anyway, in S01E15 The Prodigal, there is a scene after Cordelia has been tailing someone and she complains about all these trivial difficulties like parking and gas prices and such.

Then Angel says "It's not like in the movies, is it?" (or something along those lines)

And Cordy says" Fortunately, I am!"

Now, I feel like she is saying that, fortunately, she is in a movie. I know it's a TV show, but same meaning.

I know this makes no sense within the context, but I can't understand what else she means. Would anyone care to explain?
 
I did consider that, but it had previously been made painfully obvious she is a terrible actress, and before that moment there had been no mention of her getting an acting gig! And knowing Cordelia, she would have made VERY sure everyone knew if she did.
 
I think that's a good point. At that point, all she had done was a commercial, right? If she had been offered a movie gig, we'd know. I think her comment was just wishful thinking - say it and it becomes true, right?
 
I think she was saying she was like the detectives in the movies. In other words,that she was so good at tailing that she could do what the movie characters do but in real life. But i like all the theories,and I'm certainly not completely confident in my theory. That's just how i usually interpret that scene. 🙂
 
I think she's just saying that because she has a camcorder and took video of the guy she's trailing.

Cordy comes down the stairs wearing a short blond wig and sunglasses.
Cordy: “Hey guys? Security system, remember? What is the point of having it, if you never turn it on? I could have been anyone or anything! (Motions to the stuff on the table) Move your – entrails.”
Angel and Wesley clear off the table.
Angel: “So, you’re back.”
Cordy: “Very good Mr. I-can’t-trail-the-suspect-during-the-day-because-I’ll-burst-into-flames Private Eye.”
Angel: “What did you find out?”
Cordy: “First off, I hate following detail.”
Wesley: “The voyeuristic aspect is rather unseemly.”
Cordy: “Uh, can I mention traffic? And parking or the complete lack of it?”
Angel: “Not like in the movies, is it?”
Cordy: “No! But fortunately I am. (Flips the screen out on the camcorder she is holding and shows them a row of still shots) So it turns out delivery guy really is a delivery guy.”
Angel: “None of this looks like the package I saw him pick up from Kate’s father.”
Cordy: “But this is where he spent his lunch and he was in there for like ever. (Shot of a warehouse with Kel’s Exotic Auto on it, the guy sticks two brown packages into his bag) I don’t know what they were serving, but sure are a lot of leftovers in there, huh?”
Angel: “That’s it. That’s the source. That’s where it’s all coming from.”

There are other more obvious instances of breaking the 4th wall, both in Angel and Buffy.
