Bring On The Night Speech vs. Chosen Speech

Which Buffy Battle speech do you prefer? The one in "Bring On The Night" or the one in "Chosen"?

Considering how much I hated the idea of there being too many slayers, I didn't like the Chosen speech. I grew more appreciative of that decision in season 8, but now that Buffy's hated by the other slayers, that speech leaves a bitter aftertaste in my mouth.

But I do appreciate both of the speeches, since they're about taking control and fighting back, and also well written. But the BOTN speech was much more moving and dramatic, considering the circumstances. The Chosen speech was triumfant, while not bad, just not as moving.

For me, the times when the little guy/girl stood up and fought back against unbeatable odds was more enjoyable than the "easy solution" plots. I mean, while the last Chosen fight was good, it did kind of feel cheap, since we got the amulet and the chosen spell doing most of the work. It's not that they won too easily, after all, they fought hard and several characters died, but I feel like the series finale could have feel less... here-someone-comes-with-a-asy-solution-so-just-lean-back. That's why I prefer finales like Graduation day and The Gift. Against all odds, the underdogs beat the crap out of the bad guys. Just like in BOTN.

I've always loved Buffy's speech in Chosen. It was so dramatic and intense, and seeing all the potential slayers around the world getting the power of the scythe, and Willow's shy little smile when Buffy says she's the most powerful out of all of them. 😛 Plus, my favourite line afterwards that ALWAYS gives me goosebumps is when the redhead potential mutters "These guys are dust". Chills just thinking about it. 🙂

I agree with Gum Gnome, the Bring On The Night speech really excited and moved me. "There's is only one thing on this earth more powerful than evil. And that's us. Any questions?" Quite possibly one of the best episode endings ever.

I totally loved the speech in Chosen. The first time I watched it, it brought tears to my eyes. It still gives me goosebumps when I watch it now.

There were too many speeches in S7. Well-written speeches, certainly, but far too many to actually be poignant.
