I think 'hope' has been 'over-exposed' for quite a while though, TV eats it up! I think Paul Potts already won that 'vote'.

Thats just Yahoo, I am sure if I was watching the news or visited another site I could expand it - but I can't be bothered.

With the constant wittering of MP's screwing the people, the world coming to an economic end, people murdered, children slaughtered, war, famine and Jordan/Peter, I really don't think 'hope' is, or indeed ever can be, over exposed.


Just as a quick point, I did mean in general not simply in this show.
 
I mean in general. It's probably because I have spent a good deal of my life in the US where the 'American Dream' is pretty much defined as such. In the UK, we're much more cynical about 'hope' and I really like that, we're down to earth, not overly excitable lol. At least on the type of hope im referring to...

TV love to manipulate the 'humble beginnings' side of things, Boyle certainly helped capture the imagination and heart of the people, but far more across the world. I'm not talking about hope in the sense of hope in the future or 'hope in a better world'... im talking about manufactured hope where its hyped to death. TV is obviously going to be about that, it needs to be to survive, im just glad in a talent competition the most talented won 😉

To be honest, be it manufactured or not, if someone sat at home watching the TV has even a moment thinking 'anything is possible' then thats fine with me.

I get bored of cynics because we spend so much time aware that this could possibly be it for us, nothing more, that those moments are great.

Its not just TV that needs it to survive, its humanity in general.

Just read on Yahoo News that Michael Jackson is keen to have Diversity perform during his concerts in London.

Who is willing to wager that within the year one of the guys is revealed to have a good voice, so they start releasing singles, albums and dance DVD's.

I'm not complaining, I genuinely think one of the two best acts won, I'm just saying.
