A vegan woman has been left "traumatised for life" after she was served a sausage roll with meat in it. British vegan Sharleen Ndungu bought the snack from UK bakery chain Greggs which launched a vegan sausage roll earlier this year.

Ndungu only realised the mix up when she bit into the pastry and tasted real meat - and she says her body went haywire. The 20-year-old says she "burst into tears" when it dawned on her she had been given two pork sausage rolls instead of the vegan ones. "I haven’t had meat in two years. My belly started hurting and my heart started going crazy," she said. "I was panicking because that only happens when I consume meat – this doesn’t happen when I have other food. I’m traumatised for life now – I’m never going to Greggs again."

Kent Live reports that the store's manager offered her a 2-pound refund but Ndungu did not think that was good enough. She called the chain's customer line and was offered a 30-pound voucher but refused that too.

"I was asking for a public apology to make people aware that they should watch out for things like this,” she said. "It’s my choice not to consume meat because it causes cancer. That choice has been taken away from me.”

Take the 30 pound voucher!

Look, if it happened to me I wouldn't be happy. I ordered vegan, I should get vegan. And yes, your body can react poorly to something you haven't eaten in a long time/or not habitually.

But mistakes happen, unless Gregg's were like maliciously, intentionally, tricking vegans into eating pork this is just one of those things that happens and you move on. I get nervous sometimes, because of allergies, and always make triple sure there's nothing I can get a fatal reaction from, but if it's about dietary choice then I'd hardly describe it as traumatizing. In fact, I'd suggest that if you find it traumatizing, you haven't experienced much trauma, which - good for you!
A bit dismissive yes, but ultimately, you'll recover from this, luv.

She should be glad she's not Jewish also. Imagine the horror of that befalling a Jewish vegan.

So, meat causes cancer does it, I dare say that if you listen to every foodstuff scientist then every type of food will cause cancer.
Be careful when you buy food next time, the person serving you might be a disgruntled intern (slave).
