Yeah, sorry about that Britney fans, my post wasn't meant to offend in any way. I tried to keep it light-hearted and simple; no intention of provoking or undermining in the manner i was speaking at all. I just think there's far better people out there who would make a better fill for Season 7. I mean if a character is needed for a show then the makers obviously need to do a character study of what they're looking for. However sadly i believe Brtiney's proposition just had alot more to do with her agents, public relations, television executives and corporations running under the super regime of mass-marketing commercialism... you know, than say actually talent. So yeah, just a little thought as it's funny how the director's perfect fit for the villian is Ms. Spears. 🙄

Personally i believe Joss had no alternative though, he's been setting his own standards since the very start and after a welcomed yet unhinged change to Buffy's status with season six, i'm thinking it was now just time for the conglomerate "big cheese" guys to start demanding a few things a.k.a cash cows. (purely a business term... remember light-hearted here) Ok, but yeah if you want examples of who i'd think would make a better female villian for six ep's (if infact that description is reliable), then how about "Natural Born Killers" and "Dusk till Dawn" actress Juliette Lewis. Christina Ricci from "Prozac Nation" and " The Opposite of Sex." Maybe even Mira Sorvino (Replacement Killers & Mimic) or Uma Thurman (Gattaca & Pulp Fiction)?

It's like Britney Spears with her track record of oh... one whole film and with all the unneccessary hype about the schoolgirl/cheerleader thing, is it really that wrong i just find her a tad un-interesting? Especially to play someone like a Buffy S7 villian! Reminisce Spike & Dru s2 for a while and tell me you think Britney Spears is still whole-heartedly the best actress for the job (and c'mon, please no illusion that you really do love her, love her because she's just so kind, considerate, charitable, pretty, umm... good looking, oh and did i mention pretty? jeez.) and well... i guess good for you?
 
I'm not opposed to the idea ...but what character would she be if she was ever to appear on Buffy??

I think everyone is being pathetic by saying "britney is a crap actress" and all the rest of it. Just because she's a singer, it doesn't mean she can't act. If Sarah or Alyson decided to sing everyone would be like "She's gonna be such a good singer, yay for her"

Give people a chance, and stop being so biased.

I know it was confirmed as false though *if* she was on it I don't think we would *lose* viewers (even though there would be alot of grumbles) though I think we would *gain* some viewers.

Wouldn't that have been a good thing? But no, Britney is supposed to be a pathetic little girl who hogs up the media.

Britney fans could say that Sarah always hogs up the spotlight, now, couldn't they?

This is obviously a way to make three things happen, Brittney begins to act (at this point actors are not as good anymore so who cares, I mean when Ben Affleck is a leading hollywood star what does that say about talent?)
2nd: i am sure she will bring her usual bubbly happy pop music with her and she can have a sound track (remember the movie bodyguard with whitney houston and kevin costner, every scene she was in was one of her songs playing in the background, how sad) while she is pretending to be bad because we all know that Brittney is not bad, she is kind and sweet and everything good.

finally it is at heart a pure ratings ploy, lets be honest men find brittney spears extremly provocative and so everyone will be tuning in to watch her. lets be honest this is UPN and this is the tv business we are talking about, integrity out the window for a few more ratings points. personally i think its a bad idea (just in case you couldnt gather that from my rant 🙂 )

but i will give the producers one thing they finally found a character I will hate more than Riley.

on chrmed boards i heard that they were gettin B.S. to be on Buffy for five eps....anyone cane prove it?

I herad something like that on the gossip section on the radio. You know were some guy who knows everything bout celebs comes on and tells us all whats going on. Anyway he said Britney had signed to appear in 6 episodes of the latest season of Buffy he then went on to insult both Britnry and the show which a lot of complantes.
 
I seen Crossroads and she is alright at acting but I don't what she be like in Buffy, be better be good😕
 
im not sure if bringing britney in to buffy is a good idea or not, but as i havent seen it i wont comment in detail, what i will say, is that if you not a fan of britney fair enough, however as most of you admit youve never even seen her act, to call her a crap actress is more than unfair. personally i have faith in the shows' producers that even they have taken this step its will not have been a light-hearted decision and that they know what they are doing
 
I highly doubt that Britney will be on Buffy - I mean, why would they do that. My guess this is just one of those rumors.

I am also merging this post in with the existing one.

Yes, i agree. I dont find it unfair that we are all dissing her coz very few people can act and sing excellently,a lthough i may be contradicting myself by stating that OMWF is my fav ep and piece of tv EVER . . .
Anyway, however the argument for her being on it, i dont want her there. I belive that the "integrity will go out of the window" ehre, ands ince its probably buffys last season, hpow much of a mistake would that be?! I hope its just a rumour . . .

maybe if the fans bitch about it enough all her scenes will be cut out like george lucas did with n'sync in attack of the clones. hope

I was watching the "Space" channel and there was a commercial for the Saturn Awards. In the commercial they show a clip of Joss Whedon talking to someone and he says "Britney will be on Buffy". Then they cut to another clip. Although I cannot say that I'm happy about the prospect of this (whether it's true or not), I guess I'm not as "up in arms" about it as I was before. Whatever...if she can act then that's great. All I care about is Buffy (the show) and I love the main characters...I'm way looking forward to season 7 for that... 🙂

Hmmm . . . i dont know. I trust joss but i just cant see it. Plus, im not happy with clips - its more beliveable if they put things in context ie whole interviews or sections so there can be no confusion of meaning! Although if he uses those words, there can be little doubt! 😉
I guess we'll just have to wait and see . . .

Right - as we've seen in episode previews, the clips don't usually mean what they lead you to believe. Plus Joss is the master of 'false spoilers'

Totally. Tv stations carefully edit things to make them sound interesting, to make you tune in just to find out that what they showed you really isnt what they showed you! Lol, but it could be true. Lets us know if you see the full interview, Falcon, wont you?
Joss is a genius but is also, as you said, the master of 'false spoilers'. Damn these creative geniuses.
 
I heard that rumor too🙁 but in the end they said that she wasn't going to do the episodes. She was originally going to play a vampire, (and with her acting, a very bad vampire) but she is not going to be one now. I have to say though, it would be funny to see Buffy stake her. To see her dissapear into the air is a dream that a lot of us share!😛 😀 🙂
