Britney Spears court appearance

Damn...glad I didn't skim as I'd have thought her comparing her treatment to "sex trafficking" as typical celebrity melodrama, but reading a long report on it kept reminding me of pimps, even down to forcing her on drugs. Sure, there are important differences, but that's still way too close for comfort, even the surprising that she wasn't heard in court (guess her er, handlers, are even richer than she is with better lawyers).

Even the ACLU are involving themselves.

I'm surprised they haven't tossed her aside yet for new meat (as they'd see it) who thinks that's the life they want before it got to this point.

From my understanding she doesn't want to. She still wants the conservatorship in place, she just wants her father removed from it.

She said something to the effect, but either way, just havingher Father removed would be her getting some measure of control over her life

I think she's suggested keeping the conservatorship as a halfway step, thinking the court might go for that rather than removing it completely. Apparently all she wants to do is marry her boyfriend and have another child but she hasn't even got control of her own body.

Well I'm out of the loop (as usual with celebrity gossip).

My impression from what I read yesterday is that her father was leading the movement to get Britney freed from it, the exact opposite of her trying to be free of her father. Maybe it was so he could hijack it, but I liked to think he did it out of love for Britney rather than milking her for money himself, but the last is common enough for parents to do with their children (and vice versa).

(OTOH, if her father is trying to free her then I can see why her current handlers would try to confuse the sitch, but then he could be the one doing the gaslighting, or all of them. The world is full of bastards, and capitalism in the USA is sociopathic.)

Oh well, the ACLU is involved, and despite some disturbing changes in ACLU focus, I'll assume if they're involved then it's a legite predicament she's in, rather than she just wants a different caretaker.

I'm a huge fan of Britney, I had no idea about the conservatorship until I watched the documentary on Hulu. If you haven't seen documentary and want more context for the situation, then watch it. The whole situation is sad, and I feel bad for Britney, let the girl live her life and get married and have kids if she wants to. She's been through enough. Poor Britney.

I would not count the ACLU's involvement as a selfless gesture on their part, more likely they're trying to distract from the fact that they've been been caught red handed in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard drama. There's evidence suggesting they had involvement in penning the Washington post op-ed (supposedly written by Heard herself) where she basically said JD was abusive, even though the true culprit has been revealed, and she paid them for it.

If the ACLU are trying to involve themselves in Britney's case, it's because they want to make themselves look good, not because they give one iota of a damn about Britney Spears.

Thanks. I've heard of some disturbing trends the ACLU has been taking, including one liberal who used to work for them but no longer can in good conscience. Didn't know of their Depp/Heard drama involvement.
According to the news here Britney's father stopped the control of Britney's life due to ill health in 2019 but apparently the court deemed him fit enough to control all Britney's money, go figure!
It makes it seem that the justice system over there is run by China or Russia. Or any third world country.
Then the partial collapse of the block of flats happened and news about Britney's case stopped.

Let’s remember not to use acronyms, not everyone knows what they are

Google is your friend folks 😉
Sure, that's what he tells you, but just depends on who you ask. A lot of people are down on the Google right now. Saying he can't be trusted, he's spying on you and he's not your friend.

And they'd be right, but it's not just google so they should severely restrict all internet, smart phones, and the like Social Security is National ID in the USA. A K-Mart got my true address & phone from my Driver's License number in seconds!
There is another way of looking at them, how many countries start with the letter A ? Australian Civil Liberties Union would make the post appear ridiculous, as for OTOH, well!

Just as well China don't begin with an A, maybe it does but I don't understand Chinese writing, and er tee hee.

Yesterday the court ruled that Spears is “substantially unable to manage her financial resources or to resist fraud or undue influence” and denied the request to remove her from her conservatorship. The ruling was based on a previous filing and not related to her last court appearance.

Huge allegations being made by Britney Spears in court right now. Stumbled over the #freebritney hashtag and people are live tweeting what's being said. Sounds incredibly abusive.
I'm seeing this hashtag lots but don't really understand what going on

It is fairly obvious that Spears would not control her finances herself, she would get people to do that for, thing is they would be people she can trust. That is blatantly obvious, just consider how any other of the gig time stars control their finances.
To say the ruling was based on a previous filing and not related to her last court appearance even though her last court appearance wanted the previous court rulings to be changed. If that is all true the American legal system is backward at best.

And you just now found that out ? :)
Britney obviously hates her father, which doesn't help the situation. They should keep the conservatorship and remove him. Although how many of the rich and famous are actually capable of looking after their own money/lives in a responsible way.

Britney is not a child, she is completely capable of managing her own life and estate, with some trusted advisers I'm sure.
