Britney Spears court appearance

Britney Spears on her worse days wasn't nearly as self destructive as Lindsay Lohan or Charlie Sheen, and they still control their own money. Lisa Lopes from TLC burned down her boyfriends house! Shoot just pick a rock star from the 60s, 70s or even 80s and I'm sure you'd find more abhorrent behavior than Miss Spears. Just saying. 😏
Wonder just how much money has been paid to her father for managing her money . Bet you that main reason she still under his thumb . Sorry for sounding cynical but like you said a lot of stars have done far worse & weren't forced like Brittany .

It's comparing apples to oranges though.

Spears has a mental illness in which she needs the help of the conservatorship. Heck, venues won't even allow her to schedule concerts unless she remains under the conservatorship. She had a "breakdown" last year in which she had to check into a facility and took a lot of time off. She's had issues and "episodes" over missed medication and changing her medication. She put her new album on hold twice to focus on health and family. She sent her sons to temporarily stay with her ex-husband because of her episodes. She's complained that fans sending in death threats to her family makes it harder for her to cope. For the last two years she's been talking about getting away from the music industry because of the stress it puts on her... it's maybe the best thing that could happen to her.

from variety:

Larry Rudolph, who has represented Britney Spears for much of her 25-year career, is stepping down as her manager. In a letter to the singer’s father, Jamie Spears, and attorney Jodi Montgomery, co-executor of the estate of Spears, who has been under conservatorship since 2008, Rudolph cites the singer’s “intention to officially retire” as the reason for his resignation.

Unless she's the sinking ship and don't want to drown with her.

I don't see it. If the status quo remains they get paid. If it's broken then they're out with a major loss on their record and more easily sued. So if they think they can win this then best stay the course to protect themselves and their profits.

But if they think the gravy train they've been taking from is about to go over a cliff (that is, Britney wins this case) and they can't stop it, then it's better to quit now before they get hit with a permanent loss on their record (quitting looks less bad than losing), and the first in line to be sued. With luck (for them) they'll have jobs before it does go over the cliff, or their prospects can look even worse.

ETA: I think I should mention that even many who claim to be working for Britney are, by my way of seeing it, working against her.

Doctors, psychiatrists, lawyers (among other professions and institutions) can have a sordid practice of pretending to care for their client (or patient, whatever) while actually screwing them, either for their own scam, or because the money and kickbacks are coming from a conflict of interest (such as a parent). I presume such sordid behavior is what's going on here.

Madonna called Britney Spears conservatorship "slavery"
Madonna needs to go away
Slavery... really.

She seems to be thriving since being able to take control of her life and her choices again. I hope that her husband (fiancé?) encourages and supports this for her. She deserves to be able to make her own choices. I agree, it's absolutely insane that for almost 15 years, she had no control of herself whatsoever. Her father should be imprisoned for 15 years to understand the severity of the damage he placed on her.

I've seen on a subscribe Facebook BS fan page that Britney lost her baby : miscarriage 💔
