Brought New Books, What's Your Opinon?

Hey guys I love the Buffy books and so far I love Ghoul Trouble,Halloween Rain, Here Be Monsters, anyway I just brought new Buffy books and wanted to know what's your opinons on them and are they any good? Cheers 🙂 Oh also if there's a book I haven't mention but I should read please let me know thank you!! Also I'm gonna start reading Immortal is it any good? Thank you 🙂

I've read Deep Water. I liked that it brought in the myth of the selkies. It looks at Buffy's fear of water. I thought Giles had some pretty funny quotes. I liked his: ''Ariel, no!...into everything. Like babysitting a ferret.'' when he was on the phone to Buffy. The character's are close to the show. Its a very good read.

I've also read Sins of the Father. The characters are well written and the story is very good. It has references to both the film and the series. There's a good twist in the storyline and its very good if your a bangel fan!

I havent read the others though 🙁

I've read all of the Buffy books but the only one on that list that I'm remembering is Sins of the Father. A great story line and some really interesting character exploration.

Immortal is very good too. I wasn't that interested in the Big Bad but the rest of the book is great and you'll see some major (coincidental) themes that come up in the actual show.

There's some nice Bangel moments in Deep Water as well. There very sweet 🙂

Pretty much all of the Buffy books express and very pro-Bangel opinion. I'm trying to think of one that didn't, but I'm really struggling...

I've not read all the Buffy books but the main one that springs to mind for me is Return To Chaos. There is a lack of Angel in this book that I didnt enjoy and they even introduce a potential love interest for Buffy which I thought was out of character for her. That's the only one though out of the majority of books that I can think of.

That's the one with the Druids, right? Hmm... I haven't read most of these since I was 15, I must pick them up again.

Yeah, I've committed that to canon in my head. 😀

The Book of Four, Immortal and Prime Evil were pretty great for B/A too. 🙂

I think the thing that gets me with Immortal (and I could be wrong, it might be from a different book, but that's the one I think its in) Buffy refers to Angel as ''My love'' when she's talking to him. I know its such a petty thing, but its so out of character for her to say that to him, it just annoys me. Other than that I do love the book 🙂

I have no idea when she says it (it has really been a long time since I read these books) but I am going to join you in your pettiness because I hate it when I read books/fics/comics that have B/A using pet names for each other. Buffy called Angel "Honey" one time! That's it. I hate seeing all this "my dear/my love" stuff.

I don't remember that one. There's one called Tempted Champion that I really enjoyed, especially from a B/A perspective. I'll go through my books tomorrow and come back with a list of which ones I liked the best. 🙂

I haven't read them since I was a teenage , but I do remeber reading all the books that have been mentioned. Kean I agree with you I have to start reading them again to.

Just read Carnival Of Souls it's really good 🙂 quite slow in the begining but got much much better! Couldn't put it down what I like about it it doesn't focus on Buffy all the time it focus more on the others which I liked plus a lot of BANGEL moments 🙂

I've just bought Bad Bargain, Portal Through Time, After Image, Carnival of Souls and One Thing Or Your Mother (they were all on sale). As there based in season 2 I'm hoping for a lot of Bangel 🙂

I've just read Carnival of Souls and I wasnt a huge fan. I dont think the characters were very close to the show. There were some nice character appearances like Harmony (although her conversation with Buffy about shoes seemed very out of character) and references of characters like Jonathon. I just dont think Giles and Angel would go for a drink together even before Angelus tortured him and killed Jenny and I dont think Willow would comment on how beautiful Cordy was. There are some nice episode references though, like Ted, Xander's fear of clowns from the episode Nightmares and a few more.

I couldnt really get into the book, I didnt really enjoy the storyline. I wasnt even a fan of the Bangel bits (which I didnt think was possible 🙂)

I agree with angel and Giles having a drink together was off topic and that got some facts wrong like it said Jenny and Giles are not close anymore even though they made up in Ted and there are a few others I did not like it wasn't as good as the others but I did the ending.

One Thing Or Your Mother has got a really good ending. Its set in season 2 but it has a nice character appearance that ties into season 3. Its not big on Bangel because its set after I Only Have Eyes For You. I think the characters are portrayed really well. Its written by Kirsten Beyer. The one thing I dont like is that Buffy shows romantic interest in her tutor and I just dont think that's true to her character, Also Angelus refers to her as Buffy and not Buff (which is petty of me to notice, I know 🙂). I like the inclusion of characters like Larry, Jonathan and Snyder, it keeps it authentic.

I actually really liked the story as well. I truely felt sorry for Snyder, which I didnt think was possible. What he had to put up with as a child explain a lot about his personality now. I even enjoyed the Spike storyline. I could buy into Spike helping Callie to please Dru and then growing found of her.

It is a good read but there's not a lot of Bangel.
