I have a question about this site and browsers.

I just downloaded a new browser, but the site doesn't come up on it, but does on IE. Is IE the only browser that will show the site or is the problem at my end?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I've used Firefox, and Opera with no problems.

What exactly happens? Do you just get a blank page? Does it not connect at all, or do you just lose certain functions ? Do you get a "Page not found" error message?

There were a few server problems a little bit ago. Is it possible you just tried to connect over one of those periods?
 
I've had a lot of "page could not display" errors recently in IE but that is down to server problems I think. The site seems OK using Opera and IE other than those.
 
Um, BB never works in IE on my comp... I can only use Safari (I'm a mac-person..).. Which means I can't check BB on my mom's comp 'cause she can't have Safari and as I said it doesn't work in IE... Not a Big problem for me but still...
 
I'll check on it but I've never heard of MAC problems like that...

Just noticing that many of the vb developers are running Macs with IE - so I'm thinking it may be something more than just vb doesn't work on a Mac with IE...

What OS are you using e?
 
When I first tried it, the browser said it was done, but I was still on the same page I started on. But it seems to have fixed itself.

It's Firefox, btw. I'm liking it a lot better than IE.
 
My Opera browser was doing the same thing. Then I'd try it again later, and it would connect. I'm pretty sure it was that server thing.
 
I'm using mac OS X.. And I just heard that sometimes some things don't work with mac OS X and IE.. But, on my mom's comp, it doesn't work either, and she's got 9.2.. I mean, the site works, but I can't get the menus to work, like store/new posts/pets and so on.. Which is annoying 'cause I can't use Safari on her comp since it's not mac OS X...
 
It sounds like you don't have an updated version of Java on your IE.
 
My thoughts exactly. The popup menus do not work without Java 🙂


FYI for everyone the server thing is not really a problem per se - it's just that when the server resets itself (to make a long story short) you can't connect to the database. Or sometimes it gets slow because of the load on it which amounts to the same thing. So it's not something we can really fix or anything like that. I'm told all the servers are being upgraded so maybe that will help.

Thing is, I can't specifically ask about our site loading because every time I do they suspend my account because we have too many users on at one time...despite the fact that it is search engine spiders but that's another rant entirely... 😀

It's a thread discussing tweaks to speed up Firefox.

I can't personally recommend any of the tweaks mentioned, because I haven't tried them. I still use Firebird. Don't know if they'd work, on Firebird, and I haven't got around to trying.

Still...interesting, and the users there seem quite happy with them.
