Damn it! Harry Potter won over Buffy...

🙁

Well, you can't be too surprised it's the culmination of years of writing against only the start-up of Season 8.
I don't even understand why Buffy was even nominated honestly, because it's not meant for children to read.

I think becasue a lot of people still think comic books are for kids.

yeh...it baffles me as well..
I like Buffy and Harry equally, but:
Best Book: Harry Potter
Best TV Series: Buffy
Nothing beats the Harry Potter series.

Besides, it's not really a book is it? And I guarantee they wouldn't have put that comic if they would've seen Issue #12...

(God, is it just me or did the nominees completely suck...)

The Chosen agrees: you mean "The Long Way Home"? 😉

LOL yeah, that's what I meant 🙂

Some of the nominees I'd never heard of before.

Eisner Award

On the plus side, Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season Eight has won an Eisner for Best New Series, which is about as prestigious as an Emmy in the comic book industry. "Best New Series" seems a bit strange, seeing as this is the eight season, but it's nice to see Buffy receiving the awards that it has consistently deserved.

I beg your pardon ? Nothing beats the Harry Potter series ? NOTHING ?!

Okay sure it's a very nicely done children/teenager book. But to say nothing beats it, I'm really shocked. Have you read much besides HP ? I'm really not being mean or anything, I'm just wondering, what your assumption is based upon.

Harry Potter is nice and sweet, okay, but the writing ? For the first three books, Rowling is basically doing one-complement sentences. So yeah it's really pleasant to see her style improve as you read the different books. But come on !

I don't like it when people say "Yeaaah but Rowling created her OWN WHOLE WOOOOORLD" and I'm like "Huh.". She did not. She used mythology, and did a terrific job, I'm not saying the contrary, and she added some ideas of her own, that's indeniable. But creating your own world ? Try Tolkien or even Pullman.

Sure the books are really captivating once you're into them, but that's really not the mark of good writing or good scenario, more of "accessible" word. I don't get the thrill I get when I read a MacEwan's book for example, when I'm just like "Okay, that sentence is perfect. That one too. And that one too. Oh, that paragraph is perfect. That one tooo. And that one too.".

Come on, you can say you love HP, I get that, but don't say nothing beats them, cos on almost every level, HP gets beaten and eats the dust.
