What is the worst episode on BtVS? I know this will vary from person to person, but I'm still curious to find out which ones come up the most. It could be because you just hate that episode, or that you thought it was completely useless to the overall story.

Personally, there was plenty of possible candidates in s6 and s7 but I ended up picking 'I Was Made To Love You'. Aside from the last scene, I find this episode reaaaally boring, and the whole robot thing was stupid. The Buffybot could have been brought up without having an entire episode dedicated to Warren & his bot. Oh and speaking of him... The show would have been better off without his sorry ass. 🙂

Boring? Spike gets thrown threw a window! Even fans of his character must've loved that! Plus, last time we saw Joyce and it was a nice moment. Boo Tome. :P

but for another choice I would say 'Only Have Eyes For You'...its not horrible as in I can't watch it but I usually skip this ep all the time cause its eh

Dead Things

It is the only Buffy episode where I feel worse after watching it. There is nothing in that episode that I enjoy and I often feel depressed after viewing it.

Wait, what? I agree that the premise of the show was terrible ... but Giles singing? That raises any show above "bad."

Lies My Parents Told Me, not because it's badly written or lacks for drama, but because it completely shatters the Giles character.

But for just ugh, horrible, eps: Beer Bad and Storyteller. Those are the two I will skip on my next rewatch.

It is a hard episode to watch, but it's one of the most complex ones IMO. It has so many levels, so much depth. Hard to watch? Yes. Bad episode? Not even close (not judging your taste or attacking you, just wanted to say how much depth this episode has that not everybody sees). It is brilliant even. I read an essay about it once, and was pretty amazed by all of the brilliant things I didn't see myself!

I LOVE that episode.
I remember when I was told that Beer Bad is universally accepted as the worst episode. It isn't the best, but I think it's better than others.

I really think Go Fish might be the worst. First of all, really? Fish monsters? And it's through drugs in a sauna? Really, even if I could take all that with a grain of salt, there is no way in hell you are convincing me a high school had a sauna. Second, after an amazing episode like I Only Have Eyes for You, I expect the plot of an ep to be deeper than the age old trope that the school athletes are the stars and get away with whatever they want. Speaking of IOHEFY, Angelus made it more than clear that in the last episode, he is ready to take out Buffy. She made him feel humanity and he was done playing games, he was ready to kill. It made no sense to have Angeuls lurking in the shadows of the Bronze, eating someone and taunting Buffy. It destroyed the amazing momentum from the earlier episodes. It killed it. And to wrap up this doozy of an ep, the big happy ending that is supposed to resolve the conflict is letting the fish monsters go out to sea? They're students! They have lives! Plus, they killed their coach, they will probably kill again. Horrible ending.

The only redeeming quality of this episode is Xander in a speedo.

It does have a lot of depth. But to me that's when the show and the characters hit rock bottom. When the characters and show that I love have become so unrecognizable and depressing from what made me love the show in the first place to the point that I would rather turn the tv off than watch my favorite tv show then things have gone too far.

As far as the most pointless, boring episode I would have to say Some Assembly Required or Where the Wild Things Are.

Go Fish is actually the only episode in the 'verse that I've never watched. When I watched season 2, I'd read that it was bad, and really wanted to get to the Angelus stuff, so I just skipped it. I've never gone back to watch it. 😀

I call it "journey" of the characters. They can't always be happy. I like it that it shows how harsh life is. But I see what you mean, it is depressing, like the whole season. But that's one of the reasons why I love it. It throws realism in your face. It shows that Buffy is not all about fantasy creatures. It's also about life, and about the characters' lives. I get why you don't like Dead Things, but I would never say it's the (one of) worst episode.

But I agree about the other two you said. How did I forget "Some Assembly Required "??

The fish monsters nonsense is silly, I admit but the episode has tons of quality comedy which is more than I can say for many other episodes who have ridiculous plot and also lack the fun factor. Willow interrogating Jonathan, Buffy using Giles's phrase "from whence it came", Cordelia getting sad because "we are never going to win the state championship" or calling Xander "the creature from the Blue Lagoon". So yes, too sitcomy of an episode but I will take silly fun over OOC Scoobies who can't stand each other any day and twice on Sunday.

It is a hard episode to watch, but it's one of the most complex ones IMO.

I liked it better when it was called "Consequences". Adding more BDSM sex doesn't a deeper episode make.

Consequences is a great and complex episode too. What makes Dead Things different from consequences isn't just the sex. It's also the characters and their journey... Both of them are great and complex episodes
I don't even remember Some Assembly Required. That's how much that episode sucks, it doesn't even register in my mind as an episode. haha

And I hate Go Fish.

But Beer Bad isn't that bad. It's not the best by any means... but I don't think it's that terrible. It's funny...ish. That's redeeming a bit
