I think it was in Spike's comic, which is also canon, him and Willow met, she told him about Buffy and they hugged (aww!!)

I need to read that thing, I'm waiting until I can afford the second hardcover.

I never seem to remember. I think it was the IDW, not season 9.

Yes, exactly. And I just can't see Spike doing that now. In season 6 he was angry and hurt, and wanted to make her jealous, plus he had no soul. As mad as he might be at Buffy after the space-frak of season 8, I just can't see him (the Spike of season 7 & AtS season 5) doing that. I agree with everyone that this is some kind of spell or something going on here.

I don't think Spike thinks Buffy will be upset by the kissing. In issue 40, I saw no anger about the space frak. They seemed friendly. Which makes me believe that they have both moved on, and the kissing shows that. I think there are strong lingering feelings, but I think neither believe something will happen.

I don't quite agree. I'm re-reading season 8 and on The Last Gleaming arc right now, and I think he was definitely bothered by the Space Frak. I don't agree that they have moved on either.

It might not look like him, but I recognize the veiled attempt at humour regarding his sexuality. Because, you know, god forbid they come out and say it! @@

But who knows what goes on in his mind? Maybe he wanted to make Buffy atleast a luttle bit jeloaus? We can only guess.

Seems like he pities her for what happened with Angel. Not blames, not anymore. I think he wouldn't have kissed that girl to upset Buffy, not for real.

That's a nice way to figure it. Let me metion that I didn't really read season 8, just panels here and there (the important ones, important to me). Putting this together as you said kinda makes sense. Especially the last bit. We saw that he wanted to make Buffy jealous before. But then took it back and said he was sorry. So he doesn't really want to hurt her (just like you said). If he did kiss the girl to make her jealous, I have no doubt he doesn't feel good about it and will take it back right away.

I think with Angel he was only upset (and pity), but Buffy kissed Angel in Chosen and he still took her back, he let her sleep on his cot with him. Clearly he doesn't hold a grudge when it comes to her.

At first I thought this party was in Buffy's imagination... mostly because of the cops joining in the party... but I guess it's all real. We were told that Buffy was going to get drunk again with disastrous results, and that she was going to be in trouble with the San Francisco Police. I guess this all leads into that.

Looks like Willow has a new girlfriend. Pretty rough on Kennedy... she got dumped not for a sexy demon goddess, but for some random chick with a smartphone addiction.

I like the art, although as always, I had trouble recognizing Andrew at first. (He's now drawn to look more like present-day Tom Lenk). People who just don't like Jeanty's art are not likely to start now.

I wanted to say that you are absolutely right. I amend my former statement. I just read #40 yesterday, and had completely forgot about the fire escape conversation. 🙂

(This was discussed earlier in the thread, but I wasn't online then, and I want to get my two cents in here on the subject)

Concerning the party, as happy as I was to see Season 9 finally start, I missed something that should have been very obvious immediately. This ain't Buffy. Buffy doesn't gush over men and tease the way that she was doing with Spike. She would NEVER invite Spike and Riley to the same party, knowing their history together, and she would most certainly NEVER dance on a tabletop, practically mooning everyone in the room. That's just not her style. And even if it actually were happening, her friends would have seen that something was wrong and gotten her back under control, or at least down off of that damn table.This is almost certainly either a dream or the results of some sort of spell, which would explain the "morning after" panel later. She's run afoul of an incubus demon or some other kind of critter that feeds on human emotions, and this is what she's imagining, and maybe even what she wishes that she could be like, all free, happy, flirty, and uninhabited, sort of like Cordelia back in Sunnydale. But whatever it is, it isn't the REAL Buffy, the one who we all know and love. Magic, drugs, or both involved here. Count on it.
