I was thinking to my self is there any main chracter Buffy has not tried to kill???most of them were covered in normal again but seriously i cant realy think of much

I would think that this should actually be in Inside Out...

But otherwise I would say she's never tried to kill Cordy or Oz...yes she's tried to maim Oz during his werewolfing...but not actually kill him. And the same goes for Cordy, they've clashed, but she's never tried to kill her.

Did she ever try to kill Giles? Unless it was s8 (which I don't follow...) I don't think so.

Well she kinda tries to kill Giles in A New Man...of course, she didn't know it was Giles so I guess it doesn't really count. lol

Didn't she deliberately try to kill both Faith and Anya?

If it didn't count when Giles was a demon, i don't suppose it counts for Anya since she was a vengeance demon when Buffy fought her. As for Faith, well... ...i got nothing. This thread is about who Buffy hasn't tried to kill anyway.

Ohhh there is a whopping great difference between Giles as a Demon and Anya as a demon.

This is true. Giles was turned into one against his will and never harmed anyone during his time as a demon, whereas Anya chose to become a demon and was responsible for the harm and even death of others, but i just kinda figured being demon was a loophole 😛

I thought I was in a different thread for some reason.

Actually anyone who suggests trying to kill Giles even in Demon form doesn't count is wrong.

Question. Was that Giles AS a demon? Yes.
Did Buffy try to kill him? Yes.

I mean if you argue that she was unaware of what she was doing, then you could create a strong argument for why Normal Again doesn't count in this question.

Yeah, I agree. Giles counts.

I believe the list is: Giles, Anya, Dawn, Willow, Xander, Tara (she did trip Tara as she was coming down the stairs to help Dawn and Willow in Normal Again), Spike (I don't know if there's a specific instance she tried to kill him, but they certainly fought a lot and she intended on killing him plenty of times), Angel (actually succeeded, heh), aannnd...did I get all of them?

At any rate, I don't think Anya asking, "Is there any friend you haven't tried to kill?" was an actual question, or at all suggesting that everyone Buffy has liked, she has tried to kill. This was just Anya's way of pointing out that it does happen a lot with Buffy.

Buffy had deliberately set out to kill Faith so that she could use the latter's blood to save Angel's life.

Yeah i know, i meant i had no reason to excuse Buffy for trying trying to kill Faith like with Anya. I'm kinda confused by this thread tbh :P

That's not the point in this discussion imo. The difference is not WHY they became a demon, or how evil they were, it's about Buffy (Buffy is the one who sets out to do the killing). And there the huge difference is that Buffy was perfectly aware of who Anya was (along with what her death could have for repercussions), while she tried to kill 'Giles' not knowing who he was, assuming it was another evil demon she had to kill. That's the difference.

We were discussing who Buffy HASN'T tried to kill. And therein lies the difference between Giles and Anya as Cangel explained. Buffy did try to kill Giles, but she never consciously tried to kill Giles. She didn't know it was him. Once she figured out it was him, she ceased trying to kill the demon. Buffy knew exactly who Anya was when she tried to kill her (not that this was a case where she wasn't justified).

Ah, i think i get it now. Thanks.
But okay, then why can't the argument be made that she didn't try to kill Willow, Xander, Dawn or Tara?
She didn't consciously know she was killing anyone. Just that she was ridding her crazy mind of delusions.
So really, in that sense there are plenty of friends she hasn't tried to kill. Almost all of them, in fact. But I don't think the events in Normal Again should be labeled as "not attempted murder", and I don't think Giles' should either. Sure, Buffy didn't know it was him. But the question isn't "Who has Buffy CONSCIOUSLY not tried to kill?" The question is who has she not tried to kill. She tried to kill Giles, plain and simple.
