Buffy and Angel Book-Style Box Sets Ending

Rumoured for a while but a recent ad by Amazon seems to prove that the UK book-style box sets will no longer be made soon.

Although Amazon are selling them for £35 which means yay cheap!
 
shucks.. I havent got the whole lot yet.. 🙁.. hmm £35 is cheap.. christimas time is soon woohoo..

Re-releasing in, I presume Amaray (standard plastic) style. Or maybe they'll do it fold-out like the American.
 
Mixed feelings... on the one hand, the book style presentation is gorgeous, and I have i-4 in that format. On the other hand, it's hair pullingly frustrating to get DVDs in and out without damaging either the disc or the packaging, especially in the middle of a Buffython...
 
interesting. i didn't even know about the book-style packaging. what does it look like.. any photos? ..just curious.

I keep them in plastic sleeves because of that. The book format is cool but it does scratch the discs when trying to get them in and out.
 
I'm curious as to what the book style is too...so the DVDs aren't set into the plastic holders? You just slide them in and out of something?
 
Ah, I'd forgotten. US Discs were packaged in an accordian style thingy, whereas European ones were made to look like a hardback book, that slides into a hardback card outer case. The pages are cardboard sleeves lined with anti-scratch/static material, like you'd find in a CD bag.

Aah ok thanks for the pic! We do have 'book styles' here too, but instead of sliding into a plastic sleeve, they fit into slim plastic DVD cases, exactly like regular movie DVDs, but much thinner. They sit in the plastic holder in the middle and just pop out like a regular DVD. And all of the thin cases fit into a cardboard book holder.
 
Found out they are to be re-released on Monday 31st January and will feature M-Lock Packaging.

Tried to find some pictures of that type of packaging but all I could find is this:

Hmm...I could see why the book styles would be annoyingly frustrating when you have to be really careful about not scratching the discs...but I think I would like that better than the U.S. one's accordion style thing...you have to take the thing out and open it ALL the way up everytime you wanna watch them (and half the times the discs don't stay in the darn thing and they fall out)...it's really annoying...the best way is when each disc is in those thin seperate plastic things and you can pull them out seperatly...
 
ahhh... so that's what they look like. cool idea. i'd be nervous pulling the dvds in and out too. i'd hate to scratch such valuable personal treasures.

Thats like how the Alias dvds boxsets are.
