So is anyone else just absolutely pissed about the new prices of the Buffy and Angel Seasons on DVD? I remember when I first started buying all of them, I think I paid about 50 bucks per season, now I go to the store and their like 15!!!!! Plus I saw that they have the first season of Buffy and the first Season of Angel in a Dual pack for like 25 bucks.....grrrr, wondered if anyone else shared in my pain.

haha yes tell me about it!!

i payed like 70 pounds per season of Buffy that's like what?

over a $100 each?!

Oh well.

I never bought the individual seasons on DVD, I dunno why. But then I bought the UK collection, which is so crap compared to the US one. I ended up wanting the US Chosen Collection (I needed it 😛), so I gave my old DVDs to my friend. Which weren't even that old...

That doesn't piss me off, that was bound to happen, I paid €115 for the first few!

What really annoys me is that they keep changing the boxs, my collection is a little mish-mash, I'm thinking of getting the complete series so they're all alike!

Well that what happens with most goods, companies know there's people who will pay full price, even though its always planned that theres a bottom price, that the product will go down to.

Some people can't wait for movies/tv shows and buy them when they first come out, even though they gotta know the price will come down later.

ha that was me ;D
No i'm not annoyed otherwise I wouldn't have been able to buy the whole of Angel, although I bought them 1 DVD at once for 12:99. They are all the same design, and I managed to get Buffy season 5,6,7 for 12:99 each.

NOPE!!!!!!!!! I just got into and watched the entire Buffyverse for the 1st time ever this past summer (May '09-Aug. '09) in the correct continuity order.

I bought a brand new Buffy Chosen Collection Complete Series set for $104 and a brand new Angel Complete Series Collector's Set for $70. : king :

I also recently bought the region 2/ U.K. versions of seasons 4-7 of Buffy because I wanted the widescreen versions with the recaps intact.

Please explain bedsides the lack of the bonus disc.

I'm one of those that bought the DVDs late enough to get them relatively cheap (in 2007 I think?), before that I had the videotapes which I bought on ebay for even cheaper, lol.

It doesn't piss me off at all. I mean come on, from the moment a DVD is published it's clear that in not too much time the prize will be considerably down. And that's the point where you just have to make a choice, is the current prize worth it for you, or do you want to wait for a cheaper opportunity to come along?

I had this this year with the first season of How I Met Your Mother. I first saw it in Germany in March for 35€, but deided not to buy it. In August in London I then saw it for 13Pounds and was happy I made the choice of not buying it earlier.

It's your own money and your own free will, you know how the free market works, so I really can't see why somebody should be pissed off about the lower prices now.

Well in my opinion the Chosen Collection is better. There's generally more special features, not just on the bonus disc - I found a few more interviews and commentaries I'd never seen before. And no recaps, which I like.

I do hate when they do that, but if you have the seasons already it doesn't matter

Great way to look at it, and kinda how i do. As long as i've watched it i don't care if its a tad cheaper, but i usually wait till its at a price im willing to pay to begin with.

I miss the nice, big fold-out ones sets from the early TV on DVD days. But now with all the slim-sets that are basically normal plastic clam-shell cases with ultra slim "DVD pages" inside, I don't think it's worth it to buy full price. The production of the set (not necessarily the DVD transfers/quality of the shows) isn't worth $40 or $50 anymore. Those new Buffy slim-sets that are out now, the clam-shell cases that Wal-Mart has, are worth $15 because it's just a printed piece of paper and DVDs--nothing really collectible about it. I have all the first releases of 24, those big fold out sets with cast photos printed on them that look really nice. I spent around $45 on each of those (they released them like that for seasons 1-4 before they went to the slim-sets) and it was worth it IMO.

I do like the new slim-sets though (I bought the X Files double, 1 & 2, for $20). Plus it's good for people who have some interest in Buffy, Angel, X Files, etc, that have always wondered about the show but never watched it. It's a lot easier to justify spending $15 on a show you're not familiar with, than spending $35. And anyway, Wal Mart seems to be the only place selling them for that low--I saw them at Best Buy for around $35.

Plus, if you mess up a disc, crack one, scratch one, lose one, you can go get a new copy for rather cheap.

i have buffy on boxset twice. lol.
i have these kind of ones >>

(had to take URL out)

and the Complete DVD Collection one too ;p
Angel+Buffy

omg what is that purple? that looks awesome!

I also have the bible book ones..anyone have any problems with dvds falling out when you open them? It's like the little middle circle thing doesnt work anymore 🙁

I dont like buying tv shows season by season, i wait for box sets. When box sets are released, the pricing for separate seasons generally goes down. its bound to happen. So i have the box set which was a gift (and $140 at the time) and angel (which i used a $75 gift card on, so i paid about $30 of my own money after that).

But, my boyfriends mom just got into Angel and so she got the good deal cuz Best Buy often has em on sale.
