You all remember, I hope, that Buffy and Angel had a meeting in this season. Angel found out that Buffy was resurrected, they talked on the telephone, and then met in person. I believe Angel went to Sunnydale for that purpose. Angel returns to AI in "Fredless" and Buffy returns to her home in "Life Serial." Neither want to talk about it.

What do you think happened at the meeting? I'm not aware that Joss or anybody else ever dropped any hints, but maybe I missed something.

I think about this alot actually. I mean obviously they didn't have sex cause angel was still angel right?

I guess they just talked about what happened, how she died, how she came back, spikes role in protecting her and dawn...

This is tough lol. I really have no clue but my heart wants to say they made out a lot 🙂

I'm gonna guess it was something akin to how they spent the time in "Forever" but with more kissing 🙂

I really like not knowing though... fantasy is much more fun than fact

I like the mystery of it. Maybe neither wants to talk about it cause they both got so riled up. Personally, I choose to believe it was just like old (season 3) times with some Forever moments thrown in. 🙂

Jane Espenson wrote a comic called Reunion in which Willow, Xander, Anya and Dawn try to guess what Buffy and Angel did. It's not canon and it is no more accurate than our guesses but it's interesting to check out. Plus the art is nice.

I agree with Taake. I prefer not knowing. I have yet to come up with a satisfactory theory of what happened, in either meta or fanfiction.

I wonder if she confided in Angel where she was like she did with Spike.

This is one of the reasons I like not knowing because to me I feel like there is no way Angel wouldn't have known. If he thought she was anywhere but Paradise he would have done something about it. Even if that doesn't fly, I can't imagine Buffy not telling him. She's never been anything but completely honest with him. On the other hand I can't understand how, in knowing, Angel would let a deeply depressed Buffy just go back to Sunnydale and not be there for her.

I know the reason for all of this is down to business and not the story but, yeah...I don't like it.

So, I'm happy we didn't get the Giles treatment where he is suddenly doing the most selfish and callous things to Buffy just when she needs him most, not because it suits the story but because of an outside factor.

Maybe he went to Tibet to get the monks to help him communicate with her so he could be really sure that she was happy.

Something like this...

Angel: So, where have you been all summer?

Buffy: Dead. You?

Angel: Tibetan monastery.

Buffy: Oh.

Angel: Oh.

Buffy: The gang patrolled the hellmouth while I was gone. Spike helped...

Angel: I brought a shrunken head back with me.

Buffy: I brought a hitchhiker demon back with me.

Angel: Oh.

Buffy: Well, I'm gonna get some fried chicken and go back home now...

Angel: Oh.

Buffy: You know, this would have gone a lot more romantically if Kean had written it instead of the White Avenger.

Angel: Yeah. But, you know, WA sure is full of wit and insight...

Buffy: He's sure full of something.

Angel: Oh.

Buffy: WILL YOU QUIT SAYING THAT AND KISS ME, YOU FOOL?!!!

Angel: Oh...

Fade to black before the disgusting part starts...

Cracking up at work and my boss (a priest) thinks I'm nuts...

This.

I don't think they were tempted to sleep together that night, but my fanwank theory for why Angel let Buffy go back alone is that they probably still got dangerously close to breaking the curse that night even without sex. Kind of like in Forever, when just kissing her (sad and all that she is) affects him so much that he has to go.

See, even that causes me trouble, because I don't believe for a second that a) Angel would have tried anything sexual with her, least of all in the state of mind she was in, and b) even if something did happen it would be too filled with despair for any sort of happiness to threaten Angel.

Maybe this is why the we never saw what happened; NOTHING FITS!

I wonder I mean Buffy was very different when she came back so maybe there was just a lot of staring. I am sure it had its awkward moments.

That's sort of what I meant though. I don't think anything sexual happened for exactly these reasons, but then again Angel's curse is not about sex, it's about perfect happiness. I think that a little selfish part in Angel was still incredibly happy to have her back after he thought he had lost her forever, even though she herself wasn't, so that maybe just holding her could have acted as a trigger.

I know it doesn't really fit and it's fanwank all the way, but I can't really come up with anything better.

Or maybe Angel just smelled Spike on her and it was a terrible turn off for him.

And as for Sri Lanka versus Tibet, he obviously lied, because you can only get shrunken heads like that in Tibet. I checked.

I've never for a second had the impression that they did more than talk. No smoochies, and especially no sex. Just like when Buffy was kicked out in season 7 and wanted Spike to just hold her in that rough time she was having, she needed a friend, she needed a talk with someone that could understand her and not judge her, just help her go through all that, no sex, no kissing... that's what Buffy wanted and needed from Angel after coming back from the dead and not being able to tell anyone (else but Spike) about it.

That's an excellent point. I seriously doubt that Buffy was up for any under the cover gymnastics at that moment, even if they had found some way to get around Angel's curse,

I agree. Angel has always been a constant to her, a soul mate, if you will. No matter what their relationship is at the moment, they take care of each other.
Where?

Actually, he didn't come to Sunnydale, they've met somewhere in the middle, we don't know where.

I'm still sad because they haven't shown what happened. I guess, we can only imagine.

Didn't Angel say he was going to Sunnydale? I'll have to check that out.

There must've been discussion among the writers about it. I'm in the camp that says it mostly talk, at most a little kissing, Buffy would've told him she was in heaven or something like it and Angel wouldn't know what to say. They separated as soon as they could because the conditions that broke them apart in the first place had not changed.

Giles: "Buffy, what is it?"
Buffy: "Angel."
Giles: "Is he in trouble?"
Buffy: "He knows that I'm.. He needs to see me. I need to see him."
Giles: "Well, of course, you'll leave for LA tomorrow."
Buffy: "Not LA, and not here.. somewhere in the middle. There's a place."

I know this quote well, but I just noticed something that hasn't been discussed before (I think): "There's a place". Now that made me thinking. What place are they talking about? Is it a secret place that only the two of them know? Their special place? It was never metioned before or after.....

I've been thinking about it too, and to be honest, I can't think of anything. As I understand, that place is not in Sunnydale, and not in LA, so all their special places (like ice skating rink) are not included. Maybe somewhere Angel mentioned over the phone that is not special. I truly don't know.
