Do you think that by the end of this season Faith will be accepted and trusted by Buffy and her friends, or will she continue to be the outsider? I would really like for Buffy and Faith to least trust each ohher, if not be good friends, but it seems that Buffy is always eager to think the worst about her. Granted, Faith has had a really dark past, but Buffy has forgiven Angel, Spike, and even Willow of a lot worse. Why does she find it so difficult to see the good in Faith?

I don't know, but I hope Faith returns at least.
Buffy and Faith are two sides to the same coin. And more simply, Buffy isn't a murderer....yet. Besides, Buffy's entire mantra hasn't been the redemption deal like Angel, which is why Angel and Wesley have an easier time accepting her and looking past, well the past. Even Giles understands what it means to be a murderer. Buffy does NOT, which is why she has a hard time overlooking it.

Buffy is at heart, kinda selfish. Willow isn't stepping on Buffy's turf by existing so she loves Willow, and has no problem forgiving her. It serves in Buffy's best interest to forgive Spike and Angel of their wrongs.

Faith is competition for Buffy. Her interactions with Faith remind me of how Buffy got towards Cordelia when vieying for homecoming queen. Buffy does NOT deal with competition very well.

Further, at the end of the day Faith is just another reminder to Buffy that she (Buffy) is supposed to be dead....

I think Faith will never be trusted she was always too tempted by that dark power thats within that no person in power should really tap. Faith Takes what she wants and does not think of the Karma . No one trusts Faith not even Giles who is her in many ways , he believes in her and what she can do but no way is that trust .Buffy will never accept Faith and no one else will untill Buffy does which will be a very long wait. Maybe Robin Wood will take her in or even Angel .

Buffy and Faith are like the ying and the yang, they kind of go together but they will never be able to be friend because they are the exact opposite. They will always have a bond between each other because they are slayers but seeing them together might never happen again

but again, who knows, sometimes opposites attract

Well at least we know one thing for sure now...

Faith really is coming back, and she's bringing Giles with her. Scott Allie says so in a new interview.

"Brian Vaughns storyarc was great and at the end of the last issue we leave Faith and Giles at a very interesting point. These both together as a team – sounds like pretty much fun! What about a Faith/Giles mini series?

No such plans, but Jim Krueger is currently working on Buffy #24, which features those two. Gorgeous cover by Jo Chen. You’re gonna weep. Jo’s amazing".

I don't think that's much a spoiler myself, but I thought I'd post it as one, because some people get so darned twitchy about such stuff.

Why? Because every time Buffy gave Faith a chance, she'd stab her in the back. Just watch S3 and you'll understand. In S4, Faith stole Buffy's body and slept with her boyfriend, so low. When Faith came back in S7, Buffy was nowhere near forgiving her (I don't blame her) but then by End of Days and Chosen, Buffy learned to put their differences aside and work with her.

In S8, from Buffy's point of view, Faith was working with some slayer to kill her. And when Buffy wanted answers to what was happening, Giles shut her out, without giving her any explanation. So she still thinks that Faith was trying to kill her.

No wonder she still hates her.

I love that one of Faith's complexities is that she's a follower, not a leader. Buffy is a total leader. She will lead even if no one follows (see Season 7). Faith would love to fall in line to Buffy's drum - but I think the cost to her ego and self esteem is too high. Buffy would essentially require Faith to grind herself into the dirt before reconciling. No amount of talking or proof of good deeds will do it. Faith may only have a miniscule amount of self worth, but I think anytime she is confronted with Buffy, she tries desperately to salvage it and the result is to deepen the rift between them.

Buffy's too demanding and Faith still too guilt ridden.

As Faith said earlier in S8 (and I'm paraphrasing): Every time Buffy comes around, Faith's not the hero anymore. If Buffy were gone, 'everyone' - by which I mean Giles, the Scoobs and the Slayers - would accept Faith.
