Buffy and Mirrors?

Okay, so a couple days ago I was browsing through btvs photos (looking for banner inspiration!) and I noticed that in a couple different shots Buffy's character was in front of a mirror. So I started looking it up, an there's LOADS of scenes with that! Check it out...

Don't know if this means anything, I just found it interesting that they'd use that shot so much! And I'm sure I still didn't even find them all. Any thoughts?


And as a side note, even in her new flicks they've got Sarah in front of a mirror 😉

The use of mirrors is a motif commonly used in literature and tv. Apparently when the character is looking in the mirror their truest self is refelcted back. If you notice in each scene that you showed Buffy is experiencing one particular emotion at the time and the mirror not only reflects this it highlights it for the viewer.

And seven years is a long time, any one could be put in front of a mirror dozens of times over a series that ran this long.

Hmm, another example I can think of would be Once More, With Feeling. A lonely Dawn sings to her reflection, echoing how alone she was/felt.

i think the director's like to see more of sarah on screen. if they use a mirror, then they wont have to pay her twice the salary! ;-)
