So my friend once again promotes this show like no tommorow and i have seen alot of references in the media that say that Veronica is the new Buffy . Never having seen the show i find that hard to believe. Could some tell e what this show is about and if it is actually any good?

Personal opinion... I don't think it's the new Buffy. I mean, yes, Veronica's character reminds me of Buffy sometimes, and the humor is alike on both shows. I bought Veronica Mars' DVDs some time ago, to watch it for the first time, coz I heard it was a good show. I'm sorry to say I'm not hooked yet, but it's nice. I don't wait a whole day till it's time to watch a new episode, it's not a matter of "I can't wait!".

I couldn't get to the level of being an actual fan. I don't think it's like Buffy. But I guess some people would say it is. Maybe because of the main character who's blonde and cute and smart.

I also remember some time ago, when Smallvile was still new and people were saying this was the new Buffy. But you watch it today, and let's face it, it sucks.

So I don't believe there will ever be "the new Buffy". But there are people who really like the show, and I can see that. Is it good? Yeah, usually. Is it Buffy? No. But that's just my personal opinion.

What is it about? Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veronica_Mars

The show is awesome, you'll be hooked by the first episode. Go. Watch. Now.

Thats all you need to know.

It cant be the new Buffy. Its been cancelled. However it is very good. In fact I prefer it to Buffy. But you cant compare the two. There are so completely different (besides having a little blonde lead)

I actually watched Veronica Mars before I watched Buffy, and I really think Veronica Mars owes a lot to BtVS. Sure, there's nothing supernatural in VM (or is there?), but Veronica herself really comes across as a mixture of Buffy and Willow, and the humor is at times similar. I would recommend VM to any Buffy fan without hesitation.

Yea i never watched Smallville because as far as superheroes goes i always thought he was bland and his story has been told way too many times before. Thats why i prefered Batman over him. On a more seperate note what makes it bad? I mean even though i have never watched the show i am almost confident that Angel was and still is better. I also think the WB owes alot to the the Buffyverse and its shows. For them to want to bring Buffy back at a lower budget was retarded but then again i will let that slide because we wouldnt have gotten a kick ass finale of S5. But when the WB was cancelling shows they had three choices of shows in that same sorta genre ( Smallville Charmed and Angel). If they were thinking they would have cancelled Charmed first and foremost causre they copied alot of shit from Angel in their later seasons and then maybe second guess cancelling Smallville because that show actually looks somewhat decent despite my lack of interest for Superman.

Amen sister 😉 Those who say Smallville sucks need to watch the Justice League/Oliver Queen episodes from last season.

Anyhoo, Veronica Mars. I tried to watch it. Really hard. But I just wasn't interested by it. I have a theory that it's a show for Willow fans.

i agree with Buffy Summers. i tried REALLY hard to like this show, 'cause so many BTVS fans were raving about it. but i just don't see the attraction. it's really not a show for me and i honestly can't tell you for why...

Me too, a friend of mine on here loves it, I gave it a shot. And I just couldn't sit through the episodes. But I tried a few out so that's something. It just didn't 'float my boat' if you will.

I actually think "Veronica Mars" is better than "Buffy" in a lot of ways, but I don't really draw comparisons. When critics used to say that, I believe they were referring to the fact that it was an edgy, smartly written teen drama (and the fact that it was on UPN).

In what ways is the show better than Buffy?

Yes I want to know too, how is it better? I would just love some opinions, detailed if you will. Thanks. 🙂

Its better than Buffy purely due to my preference. I like it better, thats all. It probably is very hard to get into if youre expecting something like Buffy. Like I said, its nothing at all like Buffy. Theres no way to compare the two. Its totally down to what you enjoy watching.

I loved the first season. The following two not so much. It didn't break my heart when they canceled it. I'm really looking forward to seeing Kristen Bell in Heroes though.

I personally love Veronica Mars ... But I view it as a completely seperate entity that Buffy.

It gets a lot of Buffy comparisons, because so many cast members of Buffy moved over to Veronica Mars, like Charisma Carpentar, Alyson Hannigan, etc. But actually, it is totally different.

Its a great, witty, fast moving show, about a smart and capable girl.
Like Buffy.
But everything else? Very, very different.

I would reccomend it -- But as just a show, not as the "next" Buffy, or an "spin-off" or something.
I was very, very hesitant before watching it ... It took me ages to watch Angel as well. I love Buffy so much, that when Buffy fans start raving, it, for some reason, freaks me out.
But then I watched it, and I was hooked, and I loved it.
