Buffy, Angel and Charmed

It's a fact in my mind 😛 But not for others.
I can watch Charmed when I don't feel like thinking... and I have seen a couple of good episodes, but nothing that meant anything me personally. To me it's a light weight show, moderately enjoyable, and also somewhat fraudulent, but I suppose not all BtVS and Ats ideas are original (just more so from my perspective). Maybe Charmed was driven by making money, rather then telling stories. Oh well.

I am on here b/c even though Charmed is my fav show I like Buffy and Angel too.I agree with Tabularasa that Buffy fans should not discourage other people from watching the show or coming onto this board.Charmed is just good the magic in it the demons as well as the sisters trying to have a normal life.
 
In my opinion Buffy and Angel are better than Charmed. It's just a matter of personal preferance. There's no right or wrong.

I didnt mean to come across as discouraging so i apologize for that. The statement you made came across as you having a non chalant attitude toward the show and showing little interest in it . Also i will let it be said that thats how it sounded to me and not anyone else because i dont want to speak for others.
 
I can tell you she does like Angel and Buffy because she buys the seasons. Although not finding the connection with it yet that we have, I asked her to rewatch them again when she is done, because you always miss things. And I think she will love it more than she thinks in time. After re-watching.

Well she already loves angel, atleast more than buffy and she has not finished buffy yet. She is only into season 5. I told her that when she is done she should go back and rewatch. This way she will hopefully pick up things she missed before and even maybe grow a stronger connection with it. Besides, she is my best friend in the whole world, not a stranger. So we can tell each other what to do, lol. Although I said it nicely.

lmao thats funny that you two are best friends. So how far is she into season 5 btw either one of you can answer. lol
 
I do believe she said she was going onto Listening to Fear. She mentioned Queller demon and I asked if she just finished that and she said no, heading into that. I don't think she has gotten past it yet. We'll see.

I wonder what shell think of the Body and The Gift. Two best tearjerkers of S5 hands down. You said she was watching to see things she missed. Has she seen Buffy in its entirety before or just Angel?
 
I have only seen all of Angel.Ok here is a question for someone with alot of time of their hands anyway I want to know in detail all of the ways that Charmed has copied Buffy?

I cant really recall everysingle thing in detail but the most apparent one is the striking similarities between the Jasmine on Angel and The Avatars on Charmed both trying to impose wold peace. Not many shows have beings that try and impose world peace.
 
Cool, so I've always been 100% honest and un-bias on every front in the boards...and so I'll just add my opinion to this board in the same manner. I own all the Seasons of Angel, Buffy & as of today all seasons of Charmed. I really enjoy sitting down and watching Charmed, but with that said I do believe it to be kind of fluffy. There are certain things that I like better about Charmed than I do the Buff. With that said, I love Buffy & Angel, and to be honest, I find the story lines in the Buffyverse way better than Charmed, and maybe all of the television programming I've ever watched. BUT the thing that I really love about Charmed, is how casual and cutesy the banter is between the sisters. By far the best part of watching Charmed is the relationships between Piper, Phoebe, & Paige (and in it's day, Prue). There is never any real problems between the characters. Minus the best ever storyline in Charmed, the Cole storyline. In that storyline I did feel there were similarities to Buffy. The whole falling for a demon thing, like Buffy fell for a Vampire. There were of course major differences between Cole & Angel, but the story was similar.

But with no real conflict between the main characters, the story never really gets to that "juicy" point. You love the way that season six works all the characters in Buffy against each other. Not to mention season 4! There are always huge conflicting views between the Scoobies, which gives it these realistic gritty and amazing plots that just blow my mind.

So in the end although I love to put on Charmed when I'm in a silly mood, because it's very warm, and fluffy and usually each episode ends with "hugs & puppies"...for me the better show will be the amazing twists and turns the Buffyverse takes me on every time I pop in a DVD. I do feel more for the characters in Buffy & Angel, than I do in Charmed. Charmed is my guilty pleasure, and the Buffyverse is kind of my home.

Does any of that make sense?

I don't know if we're justified in picking on Charmed. Last season on Smallville there was an episode where Clark thought he was in a mental institute. EXACTLY almost verbatim to Buffy "Normal Again".

He was fighting someone who injected him, and he thought he was in an asylum the same way that Buffy did.

Actually the original claim is usually Buffy stole Normal Again from Brain Drain, because Brain Drain appeared first, but when you look at the facts it might not be so clear.

Personally I think what's more likely in that case is the origins of that particular story line are old, and you're bound to see a number of evolutions.

Another thing I'd suggest though is Normal Again is the more thoughtful, and interesting of the two. It attracts more serious study from educated viewers.

I remeber this one episode when cole was saying something about how he was a demon with a soul and im thinking OMG!!!!! Both Spike and Angel were vampires with souls!!!!!!!!! wtf!?!?!?!?! I mean sure one could say that it isnt copying but my jaw dropped to the floor when i heard evil being witha soul and correct me if m wrong but wasnt he looking for redemption. Things like this have been done before im sure , as a matter of fact theres a new show on the CBS i think called Moonlight about a vampire looking for redemption .

Ik it seems like im giving this show a lot of heat but if your going to copy come up with your own ideas and make the show your own. Another thing i noticed is the striking similarities between Billy and Buffy's personality when they first showed Billy.
