Buffy, Angel and Charmed

Also not to mention Billy's sister is known as the key of untold power much like Dawm is.

Edit:

Is this the one?

10 Days of Top 10s: Day Five - Best Episodes - Buffy-Boards

Actually the original claim is usually Buffy stole Normal Again from Brain Drain, because Brain Drain appeared first, but when you look at the facts it might not be so clear.

Personally I think what's more likely in that case is the origins of that particular story line are old, and you're bound to see a number of evolutions.

Another thing I'd suggest though is Normal Again is the more thoughtful, and interesting of the two. It attracts more serious study from educated viewers.

First off I have to agree with the people who said these are unfair things to compare because they came from someone else. As far as Mutant enemy copying this episode i highly doubt they need to because i do rember it was set as an earlier episode in the series anyway around the same time so neither had enough time to copy oneanother. Much like the vision thing wih Doyle, Cordy and Pheobe because that idea isnt original as well. Many shows have done "That Vision Thing" (NO PUN INTENDED) in a show before. I do agreee though Normal Again was more thought provoking which is why i liked it. I saw the Smallville episode like that as well and i think Smallville's rendetion should be in competition with Charmed and if that were the case Smallville would win because Smallville was more beliavable as far as what they brought to the table in terms of manipulation. Brain Drain was very linear and you knew the outcome of it and you knew the circumstances of the situation completely . In Smallville and BTVS you knew as well but it made you wonder is there really more out there than what we see.

I don't think its actually fair to say 'Charmed' stole this and that from Buffy and use it as a reason for not liking the show.

I will take the 'Normal Again' one as a point of reference.
Are there any ST😀S9 fans out there?
If there are, I would like to draw your attention to an episode from WAY before Buffy season 6, in which Ben Sisco has an accident and starts to believe he is actually in 1950's US as a comic writer and has made the whole DS9 universe up.
Its actually a great episode as it deals with racial inequality of the time.

Point is, even Buffy, the exhaulted one, has 'borrowed' stories. Maybe not intentionally(and generally doing a good job) but the fact is, these shows inhabit the same rough genre so there is bound to be some 'sharing' of Ideas.

By all means, compare them on quality but don't use copying as an excuse to dislike, otherwise that makes you a hypocrite.

I agree with BOTD. Everyone steals from everyone. I work in Radio, I should know. All of our promotions are almost carbon copies of other amazing promotions from around the continent. With that said, BOTD is right. We can't judge the show by saying this happened here, and this happened there first...just compare and contrast and make a sound decision on which epsiodes were more impactful.

For me it's Buffy, but that's not to say that I didn't probably giggle like a school girl while watching the Halliwell's interact.

See, you've gone from where you were to agreeing with me a couple of times...I think its love!!

Although it may seem like that was the only reason i presented thats not the only reason i hate the show I think it is a horrible addition to the genre based on its own merits and what it has stolen and dummed down from others. I know there are plenty of shows that have the same premise and somewhat even similar ideas for example The Justice League and the Xmen are two completely different universes and im pretty sure they have stolen from eachother as far as characters or plot devices but they both are good. Thats an example of two similar properties that are both good and may copy off of eachother. For those into Anime there is the whole debate between Pokemon and Digimon. Alot of people say Digimon copied alot off of Pokemon. The truth of the matter is the only thing they have in common is childeren associating with monsters. Pokemon is light hearted and repeats the same episode everytime. Digimon actually has a plot and the characters grow and learn(as much as one can learn and grown within the confines of a show aimed towards children). And even if Digimon did copy Pokemon it did the monster genre of anime differently as opposed to a cardbord cutout version of Pokemon. Digimon was better because it did itself and used original aspects of its own ideas not let aspects of other shows make it what it was.

I agree Normal Again is a horrible example of how Charmed copied the Buffyverse. The Jasmine and Avatar scenario would be a better one since its basically the same thing. Its not the concept of copying that is bad but copying so much that you lack your own voice and originality is when it becomes a problem. Take the show Moonlight for example. I know its written by Tim who has also worked on Angel but still lets use that show. When i first heard the premise i was like WOW TIMMM!!!!! if you were gonna write a new show like this you might as well just focused on moving Angel to CBS. Anywhoo the comparison with Angel is inevitable but i highly doubt it is anything like it. If it is then it doesnt really deserve to be shown because it has been done before with the same plot devices.

I remeber this one episode when cole was saying something about how he was a demon with a soul and im thinking OMG!!!!! Both Spike and Angel were vampires with souls!!!!!!!!! wtf!?!?!?!?! I mean sure one could say that it isnt copying but my jaw dropped to the floor when i heard evil being witha soul and correct me if m wrong but wasnt he looking for redemption. Things like this have been done before im sure , as a matter of fact theres a new show on the CBS i think called Moonlight about a vampire looking for redemption .

Ik it seems like im giving this show a lot of heat but if your going to copy come up with your own ideas and make the show your own. Another thing i noticed is the striking similarities between Billy and Buffy's personality when they first showed Billy.

from 00:40- 01:10 she acts basically like a carbon cutout version of Buffy trying to be witty

YouTube - Billie from Charmed

Also both Billy and Buffy are blondes who killed demons and monsters in their spare time.

Billie was trying to kill demons to get to the demon who kidnapped her sister Christy.

Purpose aside they still both are blondes with similar names who slay demons and monsters. Charmed doesnt copy verbatim except for the Avatar Jasmine thing , they normally put their own twist on things. Her personality also was very Buffy-esque so to speak. Not to say a girl cant be witty but the si milarities are there. And there names:

B ill Y
B uff Y

And also like i said before the sisters of the respective Blondes are known as "The Key" of some unimaginable power.

Buffy is one of the greatest tv shows ever made. Angel isn't quite there but is still great.

Charmed sucks the big one.

😉

Angel neeed more time to grow as did buffy they both prematurely ended and they felt as though they had to wrap things up before their time. But they were still good and the journey that we as fans went through with the characters was enjoyable.
